So the titans are for real and the chiefs are pretenders eh..... Kinda makes me feel bad about the bills making a super bowl run.

At the end of the day they were the better team last Monday and came up inches short of winning that game. The Bills are contenders but they’re not alone.

  3. Ian Rapoport says the expectation is Watson WILL be traded by November 2nd (the deadline) and he mentioned Miami, Carolina, Philly, Denver “and others” as being involved. The most notable part is he says the expectation Watson would play for his new team this season because he will not be placed on the commissioner’s exempt list.

Going back to that game on Monday, Josh still needs to learn to take what they give you.  Especially when he faces a "shell" coverage scheme.  A lot was open underneath multiple time in the game.  You could see guys waving.  Not every play needs to be a 30 yard gain.  Brady became the goat by simple diagnosing and taking what was given.  Often times 5 yards at a time. Josh is a superstar for sure, but that is one flaw he still has imo.

The second-to-last drive might be what cost them the game and it was entirely on Josh. He had multiple first downs wide open but just chucked it into tight coverage deep hoping to end the game. He needs to learn a long, effective drive also ends the game.

Jack’s preferred surgery is doctor approved?

    By which Sabres medical expert?

Read the interaction again. I never said it was Sabres approved. The original post never said it was Sabres approved. I was just noting that it is indeed doctor approved even if the Sabres doctors allegedly don’t approve it.

The Sabres doctors won’t approve it. Jack and his team are scrambling trying to find doctors to approve it for his situation to present to the Sabres.  The reporting has been that a lot of the NHL teams and their medical staff aren’t comfortable with it.

your argument is that Sabres will lose goodwill over this when they are relying on medical opinions which think Jack’s option is dangerous.  They are looking out for what is best for their player.

It’s pretty clear they’ve lost goodwill.

My position has absolutely nothing to do with me being a Sabres fan and I categorically reject your insinuation.

Your position is that the Sabres should take all the risk in a trade or in a surgery to just end the situation.  My actuarial training screams bloody murder at me for that statistically reckless position.  Moreover, every insurer for Pegula's companies had better have told him that his insurance costs would skyrocket if he OK-ed the surgery.  That does not even count that he would legally be on the hook for every neck issue Eichel has for the rest of his life.

I empathise with Eichel.  My health insurance forces me to pay the entirety of a drug my doctor and I find superior to their recommended one because they don't get a kickback to have it in their formulary.  That's $10 a pill.  And I assumed the risk.  That's life.

Even with the empathy, as a practical matter, I think that the Sabres must stay the course and live with the consequences.

Your position will always have to do with you being a fan. It doesn’t mean your position is right and mine is wrong. My position will also always have to do with my being a fan. Our experiences always shape our positions.

But I also never advocated for trading him just to end the situation. Read it again. I said they should do it as long as there is a reasonable offer on the table and there may not be. The Sabres could actually be thinking the exact same way I am and still not have what they view as a reasonable offer to execute.

So the Sabres asking their player to get the safe, doctor approved surgery instead of the more dangerous, non doctor approved surgery is going to cost them goodwill with players?

If my kids want to play in the middle of the street my consideration isn’t whether other kids will think I’m cool or not when I tell my children to get out of the street for their safety.

This falls on Jack. If he would have gotten the fusion surgery back when this began he would be back and this mess never would have happened.

Jack’s surgery is doctor approved. This is all garbage straw man.

    I mostly agree.

Someone wants to get a certain surgery to fix their injured neck.  Their employer, says, “No, sorry, you can’t get the surgery that you think is best.  Our doctors don’t think it’s best and our insurance just wouldn’t cover it.”

I understand why it’s happening, but Sabres organization doesn’t exactly come out on the moral high ground.

I knew I’d get steamrolled for it (this is a Sabres fan message board, we’re all fans), and what Dark said in response is a good retort, but it’s just a nasty situation that the Sabres have both the power, control and ability to end.

It’s long been time for the Sabres to move on. I completely understand wanting to get the absolute best return but as long as there are reasonable deals (unclear if there are) the team should accept less and move on. It’s morally right by Jack, the team and the league. At the end of the day, this is absolutely going to cost the Sabres a lot of respect and recognition among players in the league. Is the cost of dragging this on worth the difference of a trade return available now vs what you’re demanding? You better hope so.

There are no bad guys here, man. It's just a bad situation. Jack can get that treatment anytime he wants, the Sabres aren't stopping him from doing it. His desire to continue having this particular NHL contract is the only impediment. If the surgery is so important he should just take the boatloads of money he's already made and get on with things.

    Fair points.

  10. The Sabres are the bad guys here. That can be okay if you’re into “winning at all costs” (even though this team won’t be winning any time soon). They have someone who wants to get treatment for a serious injury and serious pain he’s dealing with and they’re refusing to let it happen. They’re demanding that he get a treatment he is not comfortable with and therefore prolonging the pain and injury. There’s no other way to see that, in my opinion, than the Sabres are the bad guys. It’s immoral. But it’s also standard practice in sports.

Leaving aside the civil lawsuits, is Watson not accused of rape by multiple women?  And are there not 10 criminal complaints?

If he gets convicted on multiple rape counts, he's going to prison for a real amount of time -- enough so that his career probably is over.

The problem, of course, is evidence.

I do not believe there have been any rape allegations. From my recollection of allegations so far the worst account is that Watson coerced one woman to perform oral sex which is certainly horrible but the use of the term coerced vs forced seems to be an important distinction. Another woman says he hit her hand with his penis intentionally. Beyond that the allegations mostly seem to be that he was creepy and has a fetish - asking massage therapists to focus on his inner thighs and butt which I’m still kind of battling whether or not is even an issue.

Trying to be sensitive to these alleged victims but most of these allegations seem to be women who heard he was being sued, remembered him being creepy and joined in. People should not treat their massage therapists like this but in every massage I’ve ever had I’ve had my inner thighs and butt massaged without me asking.

Sorry, meant 327 ... as advertised, my typing is not very goodly

My main point was that nothing really has canged.  Is that right?  I can't read all the recent pages.

Nope. A report that trade talks are essentially dead so Jack’s camp is throwing medical opinions at the Sabres trying to get them to approve his choice.

  13. Watson has never really been in danger of never playing again. He was always going to be back at some point. Unless more allegations come out that put it beyond what is already known. What he’s done is predatory and wrong but falls well short of the many things other players have been penalized less for. I’d guess he’s back before the end of the season.

    Tier 1 Assets:

    2022 1st (Top 2 Protected), Drysdale, *(2023 1st (Top 2 Protected))*

    Tier 2 Assets:

    Perrault

    *2023 2nd*

    Tier 4 Assets/Cap Dumps

    Henrique

The 2023 2nd would have some type of conditions on it related to Eichel's play. If Eichel bounces back fully, the Sabres get 3 Tier 1 assets that cannot be 1st or 2nd Overall in 2022/23, and a Tier 2 Asset along with taking on Henrique's contract.

If Eichel takes more time to get back Buffalo gets two Tier 1 pieces, again that can't be 1st/2nd Overall, two Tier 2 pieces along with taking on Henrique's contract.

Its akin to potentially getting 4 1sts for Eichel and taking on a 3x6+ mil contract.

I don't see that as unfair in the slightest.

What’s fair and what’s real are definitely two different situations right now. I agree with you in that this is what it should cost to get Jack, but it’s not what it will take.
