Genuinely important faceoffs happen a couple times per game. Center ice goals only happen when PK Subban scores them, which happens once every few years over thousands of games

If Mitts is "in play," it's not for picks. Sportsnet is trash They would say this if the Leafs called and asked for Mitts and we said no, probably

I'd settle for Dach or Debrincat, if they toss us a 2nd.

Every bit of new information that has come out, pertaining to Hall choosing Boston, Sabres holding salary, Bob saying no one wanted to give a first, whatever. Every single bit, you have shifted to a new "yeah but" angle, without actually incorporating that new information, you've just skirted around it. As to your first point, would you have preferred the news coming out in October that "the Sabs had a shot at Hall actually, had him all lined up for a 1 year prove it deal, but refused to stick a NMC on that deal in the event that they might sell Hall at the deadline, to improve their draft slot by a handful of picks in that scenario. So Hall is actually now a Leaf." Of course you wouldn't, you would have been even more apoplectic than you already were, so your entire first point and everything built off of it is nonsense just to make yourself more angry

Was wondering when the conversation would veer in this direction. It's an interesting point, but I don't think there's a hockey fan or person in the world that didn't understand us doing this at the time. "Holy crap, we've actually got a shot at Hall? Okay, one year, that's reasonable enough. An NMC? Okay, so if we DID have to move him at the deadline, it might hamper our return, but hey, it was found money anyway, so it's essentially just free assets. Whatever, just get it done and let's try it out" The big picture sucks because hall sucked way worse than anyone expected, but the logic still applies and using THIS hindsight maneuver is just finding something to be mad about, IMO

The request for sources, in my experience, is far more common in internet discussion than real life discussion Pretty standard on this board to use "I think" or something of that nature if the information being stated isn't established in some way

Ruotsalainen is welcome to enter training camp and attempt to be the best of 12. I want to build a roster for next year as if he doesn't exist. Bro, you posted this, and then just hours later wrote out your 15th consecutive attempt at next year's roster containing literally zero additions or changes and presenting it like it's a good thing, after your millionth tirade about how Adams didn't do enough and doesn't know how to do anything and needs to make changes This has to be a joke lmao

Agree on the Sam point. If this twitter guy thinks that he has fully and accurately encapsulated the nuances of the "asset management" involved in signing Jack to that deal, though, then this guy can be exhibit A in twitter hockey takes being useless

It could be that I just am put off by the character limit. I think worthwhile hockey takes are best fleshed out in a forum-like atmosphere, where ideas can be easily unraveled in long detail, and conversations (especially with several people) are much easier to follow. Hockey twitter just smells bad to me but this could be why

"I would have simply sat Taylor and said 'you will give me 3 more teams or you will sit in the box the rest of the year!'" Is this really how things work? It's that easy to make an ultimate determination that Kevyn should have bullied more than 1 team out of Hall? If Hall only wants to go to Boston, he has full leverage to only accept a trade to Boston lol In that scenario, I'd rather trade Hall to Boston for a 2nd and bjork than have Hall anywhere near my team the rest of the year

What I'm saying is, the hockey names you're likely talking about that I could be "missing" are almost certainly not only people I followed, but people who I paid money to for full access to the websites and tableaus they built for their latest stats databases and tools. So I don't think I'm missing anything. I ultimately found them uninteresting and often condescending. Once I stopped doing stats projects on here there was no need to get the platforms, and their tinny content wasn't worth the follow

A funny-looking man once said that "there are decades where nothing happens; and there are weeks where decades happen." Similarly, there are individual moves that alter the trajectory of an NHL franchise, and there are piles of moves that don't influence its course a bit. There are some posters that try to tell me the pile of meaningless and harmless trades is a harbinger of doom, who also tried to tell me that moves which sent 5-years-or-longer spans of hockey into a tailspin were not only insignificant, but were good things Some of y'all should recalibrate. These trades are disappointing, like almost all deadline trades when your team is selling. The meat and bones of what will dictate our path forward will happen this offseason. That will be the time for Kevyn to make or break his tenure and our future

Source?

No, because I want this team to win as much as possible the rest of the season, and I think swapping out Linus for goalies that are 1-19-3 would warrant the literal arrest and imprisonment of Adams There is virtually no chance of winning more than a couple of the remaining games if Linus is gone, and I don't want to torpedo the young guys' confidence and spirit yet again. IDGAF about a third 2nd rounder and another rando we could just sign the equivalent of for a million dollars in the offseason

I want nothing more than for Asplund/Casey/Tage to cement their arrival in stone as this season winds down against some of the best teams. Skinner - Jack - Sam xxx - Cozens/xxx - Cozens/xxx Asplund - Mitts - Tage Girgensons - xxx - Okposo/xxx, depending on if Okposo can still play If that third line is legit and really getting better and better, the offseason gets so much easier. I would flush all of our 4th liners besides the two shown and find a legitimately good 4C for those two. Then I'd probably move on from Olofsson, and go all-out on finding the best two skaters I can to play with Cozens. I'm also open to moving any of the names in that lineup out (besides Cozens) depending on the return.
