  1. Which is strange, normally I'm so used to midwit TDS drones dunking on literally everyone I know and love, that I don't even notice it
  2. When I live in areas towards which people like you spit the most contempt, I make life-changing bonds with the nicest people I've ever met, can leave my door unlocked every night, and have the most resourceful and outgoing neighbors that can be imagined, who would drop everything to help anyone out in a pinch. They are the only remaining locations I've found on in America that still contain the vestiges of " a community" When I live in areas surrounded by people who say things like this (along with the people they treat as their pets), I regularly have my things stolen or trashed if not locked away, get physically/verbally harassed like clockwork, and see things in public that no person with any respect for themselves and their community should ever tolerate. My fiancée* narrowly escapes getting mugged on her way to work multiple times, the police don't care about any of this, and every one of my 'tolerant' neighbors will casually and openly berate me, and themselves, for their ancestry, over and over and over, making this into their entire personality to accumulate social capital and internet points. THEY are the most bitter, resentful, incompetent, shallow, hateful people I have ever seen in my life, and it's not even close, despite spending 75% of it in the areas that YOU deem unsalvageable. The disparity in my quality of life, along with the amount of "hate" and "racism" witnessed, between these two locations is cartoonishly large. In fact, give me a map of the places in WNY you describe, because I need to hone in on the ideal place to raise a grounded & healthy family, my search radius is a bit too big right now. *she is a teacher, and our recent decision to flee your areas for ours will, without exaggeration, add years to her life. yeah that's what I was going for when I said that. We are going to buy if the right situation presents itself (we've gotten close twice), but I expect to be renting for a bit and then building
  3. If I was dictator my first move would be to put these people in jail It is absolutely killing me
  4. Of houses? I believe it. I think there's a chance we can build cheaper than right now a few years down the line. Then again, I don't know anything about anything
  5. We could do Batavia, Leroy, Geneseo pretty easily commute-wise, so we'd probably pick one of those places. I would imagine that Batavia is the most likely, but we haven't looked into it quite yet as our wedding is still more than half a year away The land we are looking at is on top of a hill, which is nice!
  6. We are definitely thinking of building. Found a patch of land that's been listed for a long time in the middle of nowhere that happens to be perfect for both of our commutes, might buy that now and sit in an apartment for a while to see if prices will ever go down
  7. It is funny how much we can memory hole. We loved this guy until we didn't.
  8. You're in Rochester aren't you? We are basically looking in no-man's-land, in a circle east of batavia, south of Le Roy, west of geneseo, and north of Warsaw, including within those towns
  9. Can you help me find one? I'm having a miserable time lmao
  10. Mitts and Cozens made the same sort of move on their assists. It has been years since the Sabres tried, much less succeeded at, bringing the puck into that area. I used to have a soft spot for Evan rodrigues that nobody else agreed with, simply because he was the only one who played that way (he almost always failed, but with Crosby is putting together a very nice season because of those instincts even with his physical limitations)
  11. I thought the Rangers game showed the vets having a great game, but the kids having a rough go. Tonight, the vets were fine, but the kids were on an absolute tear. Mitts was dangerous, Tage was dangerous, Dahlin was humming, Samuelsson played the 2-on-1 BETTER than you are supposed to - he took away the passing lane, AND blocked the shot! When was the last time you saw that? - Olofsson had maybe the best game of his career, Asplund was causing problems on the forecheck. Cozens probably skated 15 miles with the puck tonight. Skinner could have scored 4 and drew the key penalty, Tuch with the clutch finish, Kyle doing what Kyle does. Eakin made some passes. Hinostroza continued to show that he deserves another contract. Butcher had a rough game, but that's going to happen against an offense like that. Don got them to calm down and figure out the best way to nullify a Chicago transition game that has stymied the Buffalo Sabres for a decade. Very fun, and I'm starting to feel the tide turning. Kevyn, next year, it's on you to make sure a game like that is a 6-2 Sabres win.
  12. Lmao, I was like "skinner WTF" But he was being hauled down
  13. Stylistically, the Rangers and Hawks attack very similarly. Even when the Rangers were bad the last few years, they owned us like Chicago has, like this. Yet for the most part, those teams have/had terrible records. What do other teams do to them that we can't?
  14. *Watching Chicago with the puck* Wait, why is this team's record so bad? *Watching Chicago without the puck* ...oh The Sabres need to be ready for rebounds from point shots, they've been facing the wrong way so far
  15. We grabbed our 10 this morning
  16. I do recall. My estimation of their talent does not preclude that sort of thing from happening, unfortunately
  17. I appreciate the mention OP, but I've been posting on autopilot/as a shell of myself since the covid shutdown. Build the reputation with college procrastination & autism and then coast the rest of the way :) Many others deserve recognition. The posters that stood out to me the most over the years are PA (the uncle with whom I've had a falling out), X. Benedict, Ghost of Dwight Drane, dudacek, and Neo. I think these five posters not only are fascinating to read on any topic, but would outstrip a vast majority of the general population in intelligence tests of any kind. That's not to say that there aren't other wicked-smart posters, but I think these guys combine a unique brand of wisdom, humor, linguistic prowess with their elite hockey poster traits. Other posters contribute to a unique character that only this board possesses, the likes of which I've not seen anywhere else. These posters include but are not limited to Weave, SwampD, Taro, That Aud Smell, Eleven, nfreeman, inkman, NS, Doohickie (whatever you last two are calling yourselves now). Then comes in the foundation, the worker bees that start and drive discussions at all hours of the day. Curt, bob_sauve28 and his relentless optimism (he's really funny if you look for it), matter2003, crusader, sakman, woods-racer, that JohnC guy is very good. Needs an avatar to help forge his board identity. Zamboni and his aggressive assertions that it's just his opinion! triumph communes, who weathers all kinds of antagonism for whatever reason. So many more I can't name who deserve to be named. More one-of-a-kind guys like wookie, Liger, Brawndo, pi, GASabreFan. Old guard wyldnwoody, Promo, dark (he comes and goes on geological timescales), ubkev, WildCard (yeah I know youre my age but we came on like 10 years ago, so we are now "old guard" lol), chz, Hank's drive-bys (sorry I literally always argue with you, i promise i don't seek you out for it). I see MattPie floating around again. Same with bunomatic. We have quite the crew here. And I can't forget Thorny, who will turn each and every one of us into a logician with impenetrable theses.
  18. Didn't they have trouble selling out the Pats playoff game? I know it was cold, but as the season gets longer, a higher percentage of games are going to be cold winter games. Vegas also has a smaller number of seats than you might expect. I think this is the general trend, because people enjoy watching football on tv with their family & friends. I consider myself fairly knowledgeable about the sport, and have a much tougher time watching live and telling what's going on than at home - I often can't tell if a run was 0 yards or 5, forget about judging first downs. The atmosphere makes it worth one trip a year, but on TV my buddies and I can break stuff down and argue strategy etc. in real time, the football aspect of the experience is far deeper this way. The only improvement live IMO is being able to see entire route concepts develop
  19. There are at least two seasons that showed promise recently in which blowout losses to the Blackhawks represented a final dagger to the Sabres' springtime hopes. To continue the positively trending symbolism, we need the Sabres to blow their doors off tonight.
