Is there any more common occurrence than Buffalo teams getting ***** by refs?
I do wish half of you guys would stop it with the endless complaints. Guess what, goalies that are considered good don’t get traded. Your three options are draft and develop, trade mass assets for a question mark or sign a question mark for way more than he’ll likely be worth.

PA is onto something with Brian Duff. An animal rage triggered in my brain as the feed switched back to the studio after that period and he was cackling with a *****-eating grin on his face

The Sabres dominated that period, but it was countered by Clifton. 😡
If this was a more established team that has done things before, it would be obvious that they are going to come back in this game given the way they owned the puck. But our guys are getting frazzled at every level - in the forward corps, in net, and behind the bench. I'm hoping they can regroup and just keep doing what they were doing the vast majority of that period

Greenway has a minute of more icetime than Tage.
He's been worse today than Thursday. Terrifying with the puck on his stick.

They sure look like a team that needs exactly what the fans and players practically begged for, which Kevyn just refused to make happen in a meaningful way for the 3rd straight year

Our best players have been our worst.

The guys can't let him in their heads though. Keep this up and the isles are going to get tired.

I would be supremely confident in a win tonight the way we are playing if not for that ***** goalie

Islanders can't hang with us aside from the outscoring us part
Just now, OverPowerYou said:Telling signs that the Sabres are on their way to a losing streak
1. They can’t complete passes
2. They skate slow and look boring even though they have a fast team
3. They constantly dump it in and never go into the zone with speed
4. They get attacked a soon as they get the puck and can’t maintain puck possession in the offensive zone
Good list. Not seeing much of that tonight lol. Islanders have barely touched the puck

Victor, that cannot go into a shin pad. It just can't.

It was a sellout Thursday.
Who is going to the next home game? I’m not. But if somebody is… Please post whether or not the next home game is a sellout. 👍🏼
I'll be there

Do the Sabres have STHs or STSs?
We had 3 guys split 41 games 3 ways, for 2 seats. As far as I know, we only have to sell 1 of them and will go to the rest. It would be almost impossible for me in particular to do more than the 13 I have, so I'm not really sure how people manage 41 unless they live <20 mins away

Ha ha. I am staining/painting my deck railings today. Well, my son is doing it and I am “helping” out a bit. It’s nice that the tables turned and now he can out work me on the physical labor stuff. It especially nice that I can still beat him in golf.
I take it you're not local? It is miserable outside here today

Gonna be fun watching Cooley this year
I was very impressed with what I saw yesterday.

Last year in 3 games against NYI the Sabres were 2-1 and outscored them by a scintillating 7-5 margin. The Sabres can show how they've grown, or they can show the rest of the league how trivial it is to shut them down.
-
The Coyotes outplayed and beat the Devils. They looked as skilled as New Jersey did too. Cooley is going to be a star.

10-10-4 would not be great. You'd need a division-winning pace the rest of the way to squeak in the last wild card spot.

I only used the kid card in relation to the first game of the year. By game 4, there will be no more room to punch it.
In triumph's defense, OP has not looked very good yet this fall.
On another note, the Sabres did not start slowly last year. They were 4-1, then 7-3. I wouldn't care if they had a slow start, then gelled in January.
They also started 7-11, and missed by a point despite shitting their pants for like 4 weeks in the spring. There is loads of runway. The worst part about losing a game this early is how far away the next one feels.

I am currently in a one week free trial window with fubo. Might make a few more of those before finding something else to do

I'm so sick of the endless complaint about vet goalies; there are none available worth the price. I refuse to trade multiple top assets for some mediocre goaltender who may or may not actually be better than our present group. I had never any interest in paying Hellebuyck 7x8.5mil and Saros wasn't exactly available for any degree of a fair offer.
It doesn't matter what you think is or isn't available or worth it. What matters is, will the Sabres have bottom 5 goaltending for the 4th+ year in a row, or not?

I’m with you. Your points are very valid. I still think we are a year away from being a playoff team. Not bringing in a vet goalie yet again is near suicidal.
This is dangerous framing. If we aren't a playoff team now, NOTHING is guaranteed about next year.

Zero for the sabres, but I pretend to not care about what I wear for bills games yet often find myself avoiding shirts that I wear during losses...

The problem with last night was being entirely out of sync (maybe only 1 preseason game isn't enough Donny) and the complete lack of rushing or pinching. There were so many times last night where they would do the ***** STUPID USELESS WORTHLESS ANNOYING drop pass (which at times guys literally missed) and then all everyone else did was stop skating and waited in their designated spots for the entry or dump in. Then defenders were fleeing, FLEEING, the blue line whenever a ranger touched the puck and they didn't stop fleeing until they saw their own faceoff circle allowing easy entries. We repeatedly gave up our own blue line while also repeatedly refusing to take away the walls in both zones. It was a mess last night. Defenders would dobule cover the same guy. 3 goals happened because of players standing around. The panarin goal happened because instead of challenging him we backed off and backed off and backed off. I get you gotta watch for the pass there but you let him get into prime scoring areas.
I hated last night. It was a perfect encapsulation of all the problems we saw in preseason and what doomed them last year and no one seems to be interested in fixing it.
This is why some of us were hard on Kevyn for this summer. Until the things that sunk us last year don't sink us this year, his offseason is going to look obscene for a team trying to push over the hump, with players documented by @tom webster as really wanting the help.

Reminder that Kevyn went to the mic this summer and told us that our goaltending is a "position of strength"
They were in the WCFs 18 months ago and made the playoffs last year
