  1. Nolan on GR this morning, approximately 9:15 am: Enroth is maturing but is not ready to be a no. 1 in this league. Needs to stop letting in bad goals first. Wants to start Miller as often as possible, because that's what you do when you have a goalie of that caliber. I assume it will be in the audio vault later.

That's two NHL coaches, whatever Rolston was, and every hockey writer in the area. Can we put it to bed now?

and yet has still been equal to Miller stat wise the past 3 years. hmmm.... maybe ted needs to watch film of ryan the past 3 years.

  2. Look jj, more stats proving Miller isn't average!

    http://www.wgr550.co...veryon/18262281

hahahaha... m coller is a fanboy so of course he is going to spin every positive statistic he can find in millers favor.

go over to hfboards in the sabres trade rumor thread and see some of the statistics posted about miller over there. why doesn't m coller post those stats? not favorable for him that's why, and you get to see how some blues fans feel about miller, it's kinda funny actually. m coller is just another idiot media member.

  3. Even if you believe that (no arguing with those points if you seriously believe that), it actually is hard to find a goaltender who is consistently at least average.......its why there are a lot of teams that have goalie issues....Go make a list of goalies over the past 5 years who occasionally get into the top 10 of stats but never drop below average.

Lol, grizzly adams did have a beard.

That is exactly what I mean. There is only a few goalies who are upper tier, whereas most are more average than not. Numbers would have it as RM is more average than not, therefor not overly difficult to replace. Thanks for making my point.

  4. This is my issue with you.

Here is the spectrum of reasonable-ness

Enroth can't be an nhl caliber goalie

Enroth Can't be a good starting NHL goalie

Enroth may or may not be able to become a good nhl starting goalie.

Enroth will be a good starting NHL goalie

Enroth can come in and replace a franchise goalie and there is no reason to think otherwise.

Sorry, but you are on an extreme end of the spectrum, and its just not reasonable. Do you also think eddie lack can simply replace luongo, they have simliar save percentages. Do you think gustavsson can replace jimmy howard? Greiss in phoenix? Raanta in Chicago. Jones in LA. Hutton in nashville. I'm not sure if you realize this, but backup goalies tend to put up pretty good stats because they get long stretches of breaks, and coaches have a strategy of when to play their backup goalie where it will cost them less.

Im not saying enroth cant be better than miller, but no one knows. Being a starting goalie is very different than being a backup goalie. And for the record im in the camp that says you don't know what you have until you see it. Enroth has been great as a backup and I think he has potential to be a grat starting goalie. But it won't be easy to replace miller

I don't think it is going to be as difficult as you think.

Don't confuse consistency with being great. In RM case he has been consistently average and it is not difficult to replace average.

  5. Here's an overall number: 1-14. That's Enroth's record this year. And it's the most important number there is.

    Is that number lying?

Haha, yeah right, because 12-22 is sooooooo much better.

  6. This is getting stupid. Enroth is a perfectly good #1 goalie on a team that's in the bottom third of the league, because that's where he'll lead them. Miller fought through Biron and Noronen, both of whom are above average goalies, and during that, he did NOT get regular starts, and he grabbed the starting job. He was, and is, a "franchise goalie." If you can't see that, I really don't even want to discuss it anymore.

As for Enroth, he has a lot to prove. He's really not great--he can be good, but nights like last night (and I know Miller has down nights, but he has a body of work that Enroth doesn't have, and NO, Miller did NOT have that body of work when anointed the starter). When Enroth can show me that night in, night out, he can be the difference in a game, fine. Until then? He's JAG. Miller has been the difference in so many games; Enroth, a few.

    Get perspective.

It's tough to show any kind of consistency when he only gets maybe one opportunity per week. There is only one way for him to prove he can or can't do it night in and night out and that is to be given the chance to succeed Miller.

  7. Goal 1 - Backhand thrown on net. Soft goal

Goal 2 - Straight shot on net from out high. Soft goal

Goal 3 - Ott should have had his man. Saveable shot (as if he was a little taller it would hit his shoulder). But not his fault

Goal 4 - Point shot that slid along the ice. Soft goal

    3/4 goals were very preventable

And here is what would have been said if it had been Miller letting in those goals.

1 where was the defense, Sulzer sucks. Not Millers fault, he can't play defense also.

2 the team sucks, Semin went through all 5 guys and Erhroff just stood there, great defense Christian. I don't fault Ryan on that one.

3 Ott screwed up, he needs to take the body, that shot shouldn't have even gotten off. Nothing Miller could do.

4 Miller was screened in front. Defense needs to clear out and let him see the shot. Miller would have stopped it if he could see it, that one is not on him either, the defense needs to do a better job.

These are the lame excuses that would have been made had Miller performed exactly as Enroth did last night, and everybody here knows it.

  8. I'm tired of having to make people's points for them. There are plenty of posters here who understand this and make posts that are well thought out and worth a readers time. Not sure why my reasonable expectations are the problem.

ignorance is bliss isn't it. like i said, who died and left you boss?

it's an opinion board and it doesn't need you running around here correcting people because their opinion differs from yours.

  9. I'm not trying to give you a hard time for the sake of giving you a hard time, but your posts are consistently lacking and I want to make it clear where those areas are. We are butting heads for the same reason every time, which is that I am asking more from you and you don't feel the need to do it. This is not my problem to fix. It's on you.

Just curious, who died and left you boss? It's obvious by this post, you are one of the one's who thinks they run the show around here. It's no wonder why newbies don't stay.

  10. "Clearly"? His play hasn't even begun to drop off yet and you're comfortable making that statement?

No it hasn't, it has actually picked up. You are right, but, I guarantee you he is not as good next year as he is this year. He won't be as good post Olympics either because he will be pouting from not playing. Miller seems to be cyclical. Olympics ring a bell, they happen once every 4 years. That will be the next time you see an increase in his play which will have dropped off after this year. Then again it may not as he will be pushing 38.

  11. Wasn't Lori, I don't think. They did focus on her, so that's intriguing. I go back to my theory that Carl couldn't shoot his mother and Lori the walker is out there, destined to be reunited at the end after there's some miracle cure, or something.

Just watched the scene again and… maybe it was Lori. But was she wearing a blue jacket when she died? Walkers don't change their clothes do they? Or maybe they do, they get up in the morning and are like, "What to wear? What to wear? Oh, I haven't worn this filthy, tattered rag in years!"

couldnt have been lori. she was eaten by a zomball in the furnace room in the prison, then rick killed him.

  12. Learning to play hockey has been on my bucket list for awhile. You have to start somewhere — I had the first of seven skating lessons the other night. I move about as well as Dave Andreychuk on meth, but at this point, whatever. I'm on my way.

I skated in rental skates, and I don't want to do that again. Lord. So I need some down and dirty advice on buying skates, where to go, what to look for, how much to expect to spend and so on. I'm reasonably close to Buffalo.

you also might want to think about used skates at like play it again sport as they are already broke in and will be a little easier on your feet, not to mention cheaper.

  13. I think it should be Vanek. I also think we are going to see a different Vanek this year. It was no secret that Ruff rode him hard (that doesn't sound good) and they didn't get along, and I really think that hampered his play. I'm hoping Vanek plays even better under Rolston because I think Rolston will treat him better.
