  1. We were spoiled getting Miller so soon after Hasek. I like getting spoiled though, so let's make it 3 in a row

Contrary to what you may believe about Miller, based on numbers, Miller, Ullmark and Johnson are all pretty even.

The myth that Miller was some sort of great, we were spoiled to have him, goalie is apparently still alive and well.

  2.  I'd love to see Kane drop the gloves (and I feel like he's been looking for an opportunity to do so but hasn't found one yet) but it gives me a little pause because the man is made of glass and I have no doubt he'd hurt himself even if he battered the guy he was fighting.

I just wouldn't want Kane to injure his repaired shoulder. Lots of torquing and shoulder use during fights.

  3. Thanks for confirming what I already knew. For years with Sabres rosters crammed with mostly mediocre and bad players you instead chose to pillory the guy who was the least of our problems. And the number of posts you've made in this thread doesn't support your waning interest.

And that is the rub.  You think he wasn't a problem and were totally fine with average play, apparently, whereas me and some others didn't buy into the Ryan Miller is elite propaganda machine that many fans spewed and thought he was a big part of the problem and wanted a better goalie and better goalie play.

  4. Let's wait to judge our goalie situation until we need our goalies in big game situations.  Whoopteedo, our goalies have mediocre stats and the team is in the bottom 1/3.  Let's see if we'll miss reliable goaltending when we are working our way through the top 8 teams in the conference in 7 game series.

Miller, in his day, showed up in the playoffs.

When and where? Name a huge spot where Miller showed up and stole the show!

  5. It never is.

Yeah, right! I was going to say the same thing.

I remember when it was said to be careful what you wish for if Miller was traded. Well, I for one wished for Miller to be gone, as I couldn't stand him. Guys like Hackett, Lieuwen, Enroth, Neuvirth, and Lindback were nothing more than average, just like Miller was, and the sabres goaltending didn't miss a beat without him.

The biggest hockey myth ever was that Ryan Miller was an elite goalie.

The fact of it is that Ryan Miller was/is the most overrated goalie of all time.

And he chokes on the biggest stage, good riddance.

  6. We need to help those 100's of thousands of men, women children trying to escape the violence. I'm sorry, your post is the exact type of reaction that terrorists are hoping for.

No we don't. There are over 200 other countries in the world, let them start helping for once. I'm ok if the USA stopped helping/paying to help other countries. Enough is enough! I can't afford it anymore.

  7. Judging by their screen doors I guess TrueBlue and D4rk have something to offer in that department...

But otherwise I think the first two names they ask for are Bogosian and Ristolainen. I can't see that happening and would be highly disappointed if it did. I don't think it will.

Outside of them we've got Zadorov, Gorges, Pysyk, McCabe and Weber to offer in a deal. Zadorov is the popular name, and I would expect that he would be a key piece to the deal if Colorado believes that he can play in the NHL right now (which could be why Murray/Bylsma put out to the media that they believe he can). The most popular offer is some variation of Zadorov, Grigorenko, 21 and maybe another piece. I could see Colorado pushing for something like Zadorov and one of the other dmen I just mentioned excluding Bogo/Risto, 21 and a prospect (Grigorenko, Larsson, Compher, Hurley).

If the deal is Zadorov, Weber/Gorges, Grigorenko and 21 then I think it's a definite yes. If Weber/Gorges has to be one of Pysyk/McCabe then I don't give them the extra prospect and might want a lesser defensive prospect coming back our way.

That's way too much to give up. IMO

  8. He's 31 and a left hand shot, and will command too much money.

If we are going to spend that kinda doe we need a young rising right hand shot.

Vanek is right handed all day and everyday.

  9. 1) those are definitely Bob's old friends.

    2) I really think he was bitten in the basement.

    3) what did the priest do?!?!

I think the priest was a human supplier for Terminus. People would feel safe at his church then he would turn them over to Gareth and his crew for food. That's why that phrase was etched on the churchs outside.

And yeah I too think bob was scratched or bitten on the leg.

  10. Nailed it!

I think it's still possible that Miller resigns in St Louis, but it'd be a quite unlikely and curious move. Keep in mind that Brian Elliott hasn't ever played a truly "full" (>55 game) season. Does a wannabe contender go all in on Elliott and developing goalie Jake Allen? Or do they bring in a veteran, have him split time with the guy that's been splitting time, and let Jake Allen take time to develop in the A? That'd be a lot of goalie insurance, but a defense-first team may be looking for that- because if one of those guys goes down or, in Elliott's case, they can't handle the workload, their goaltending situation becomes an enormous question mark.

Nope, not going to happen, and I don't think Ryan is going to have too many other options starting July 1.

  11. Wow — now Miller has reached the end of the line? Back-up or retirement is the best he can look forward to?

Are we talking the same Ryan Miller who stood on his head for most of the season before he got traded?

His performance in San Jose last fall alone should earn him an offer from the Sharks.

Given his makeup I see him taking a two-year offer from a contender (San Jose, Pittsburgh, maybe Anaheim) where he can probably be number one, over more money from a lesser team where he would be an obvious upgrade — Islanders, Caps, Canucks, Oilers, Jets, Flames, or even the Hurricanes (if the Ward rumours are true) or the Sabres.

Dallas, Detroit, Minnesota, Philly will probably kick his tires.

Is he going to get a five-year, $35 million offer? I doubt it at least not from a place where he wants to go.

But he will be playing in the NHL next year somewhere, and almost certainly as a number one.

While I concur he may be a #1, I don't see him being a #1 on a contending team. I do not think a cup contender GM is willing to put his job on the line for Miller after his most recent Blues performance.
