  1. Work:

We have our monthly company-wide meeting tomorrow. While I normally hate this, because it usually turns into "you guys are not doing a good enough job and the numbers better improve or else" bitch-fest, I have two complaints about this one: 1), it was moved up a week from the normal Friday it falls on - but they haven't communicated that with everyone, and 2) it pulls us out of our branches during our busiest and mot critical month of the year.

We also did not get our normal budgetary goals - we usually get a new, termination, and net goal for each month, plus financials. We've only been given the financials and net, but that didn't stop them from sending out an email telling everyone that they are off pace for their new month-to-date pace.

Also - we are short-staffed right now and in the process of hiring some part-time help. But with a new office opening in a few months, just a few miles down the road, our bosses want to regionalize some of the PT staff. Good idea in theory. But that means that for me to interview someone I have four other people who want to be in the interviews and decision-making process. Again, understandable. The problem comes in trying to coordinate four schedules to do one part-time applicant interview. It takes forever. Then they are asking me why it's taking so long to hire someone. Really?

  2. My complaint: mucus.

Had a cold over Christmas week. No flu, I got the shot, just plugged up sinuses. Now the nose is geting better but it's all landed in my lungs.

I'm coughing like there's no tomorrow. Getting headaches from coughing so much.

    Someone tell it to stop!

I'm just getting over something similar. It lasted a good two weeks and I spent 10 minutes every morning coughing up some nasty stuff. My wife the NP was sure I had walking pneumonia, but she could never hear it in my lungs. It was probably something viral and with that I usually prescribe myself heavy doses of high gravity beer.

I've been fighting something similar for over a month. It's definitely in the last stages but the cough is still there and still annoying as hell.

When getting ready for bed, try rubbing Vaporub on your feet and the putting on white cotton socks. Sounds weird, but I guarantee you'll feel better the next morning. I do not know why it works, but it does :)

One of the volunteers at my work said the same thing. I just can't do it. I can see it working for a cough or congestion due to a cold but I don't see it for a viral bronchitis-type illness.

  3. D. Mentioned by SwampD in the "Complaint Thursday" thread, Pomplamoose frickin' rocks. Ignore her "Steven Segal" one-look pony or whatever. Her vocals are smouldering. and DAMN she's hot! Not to mention that they're just a fun, fun band.

DAH! Almost forgot the big E!

    E. Planning a 3-week road trip to WNY! Leaving July 22, getting back to Utah August 12. Could not be any more excited for this trip. We're taking the 70 there and the 90 on the way back. Lots of stops along the way, but no more than 5-6 days on the road each way.

Eyes and Voice. What else do you need?

You guys can have her. Not gonna fight you for her.

  4. Yeah, sometimes I wonder if I get that way. I mean, I don't hate my parents, and I'm too old to be a brat or "get a car," but I do wonder if my complaints (in general, not necessarily in this thread--I mean, insomnia really does suck!) are really worth bitching about in the greater scheme of things, you know? We all--and I do mean everyone on this board--have it pretty well compared to most of the planet.

EDIT: That's not meant to be a threadkiller. On the contrary, even the most petty of complaints in this thread (probably some of mine) are damned entertaining. More of an explanation of why I posted that link. And hell, I always feel Catholic guilt at this time of year.

Not worth it in the grand scheme, and most of us have it pretty well compared to a lot of people.

But all that being said, day-to-day life is full of irritants, morons, and other miscellaneous stupidity that tends to spike the blood-pressure. I like to think of Complaint Thursdays as a good release valve which keeps us from snapping and going all "Falling Down" somewhere in our daily journeys.

  5. Don't you bad mouth Pomplamoose.

That's my wife you're talking about,.. she just doesn't now it yet.

From what I've seen she has a Steven Seagal-esque range of facial expressions. It's the same look in every damn photo, video, and image.

I know we need this thread for intra-board therapy. And I know that from time to time, someone posts something here that's really, really serious. But most of the time, we're bitching about jaywalkers, people taking impermissible lefts on Delaware, tacos that aren't quite crispy enough, etc.

    http://whitewhine.com/

    Great site for that stuff.

I wonder what they'd make of us!

But this still is the best bitch thread goin'.

That site looks like a lot of "spoiled little rich brats whining about how my life sucks because I didn't get a car for my birthday so FML and eff my parents".

  6. I want to strangle the Hyundai girl with the Lexus bow.

Besides, do you know anyone who drives a Lexus that wouldn't give one as a Christmas present? You know they would.

I know they would. The commercials are pretty accurate with the level of douchebaggery portrayed.

I don't mind the Hyundai girl. She's kinda hot. Or cute.

  7. How about these freaking Lexus commercials? Not bad enough that they are based around a jackass SURPRISING someone with a luxury automobile as a Christmas gift, but these tools rig up the elevator music, create a music box and get the Lexus theme into Guitar Hero? I watch these commercials and want to punch the gift giver and recipient in the face.

  8. Some people on the roads are NUTS and need to be avoided at all costs. A few months ago, I was trying to get into the right hand turn lane, and just needed the guy in front of me to move up a few feet(he was going straight). I gave him one small honk of the horn. He didn't budge, the light turned green), he went straight through the intersection, made a u turn, followed me, and proceeded to start screaming out his window at me. I ignored him, and he drove off.

Road rage is out of control, and like I said, needs to be avoided at all costs. You never know who you are dealing with.

    This +1000000000.

My complaints: work, or specifically the upper management who seem to have no clue WTF they are doing. Unrealistic goals, shady tactics, and lack of respect for anyone.

Websites that go with flat rate shipping/handling based on your order amount. So that $9.98 undershirt costs another 9.99 to ship? Come on.

  9. I shan't spoil't the fun for ye. T'is in here, right about the middle of the thread. Enjoy!

Damn, I did miss it! I didn't bother to read his whole post there. I saw the "Good Day Sir" clip and just assumed the text was optional.

    The circle is complete.

  10. My biggest problem with lil liger is that he and I are the same age. The fact that he can't hang with the big boys here like I have since '07 is just embarrassing for me on a personal level. I expect my generation to represent itself better.

I have watched his meltdown with curiosity; however this really offends me. Not because of some perceived generation gap, but simply referencing/giving credence to an all-too-unfunny movie/series like Meet the Parents/Fockers/whatever the hell the 3rd one was called.

  11.

Perhaps the solution is not to post ill-conceived gibberish if you don't want to get called on it.

    Nice.

Alright you guys win. I give up and I'm done. Congratulations. Reading this board is making hate hockey. Focker out.

Using "Focker out" or any other not-so-clever Focker movie line/reference isn't helping your cause.

  12. Jeez, all I have to complain about is still being sick. Oh, and tomorrow is my last day before vacation - and I am booked in meetings pretty much all day, and even have to go in early to our downtown branch for one meeting where I was volunteered to chair a committee (made up of people who are higher-ranked than me) followed by our monthly department meeting/"pep talk"/veiled threats meeting. awesome.

  13. This week has been my first all out physical activity in about 3 months thanks to the knee injury. I'm stubborn enough that I have to try to pick up exactly where I left off. My first hockey game on Tuesday was the disaster I expected it to be (but I did score on a nice deflection of a point shot). Thanks to everything over the last 3 days, I'm sore as hell right now. I'm going to go with that "wrong side of 30" cliche because my recovery time is now timed with a sundial.

I've been having problems with my left hamstring on and off for the last 2-3 months. It knots up and feels like it going to pop whenever I run. I rest it, it gets better, then it re-aggravates. Finally had enough and went to the doc today and he is sending me for PT. I asked for the MRI but he said not yet, let's see what the PT folks say. It's so frustrating.

  14. The complaint thread closing early last week.

Too much turnover at my job - too many people being transferred around to new locations.

The damn dog went outside at 1030 last night, but apparently that wasn't good enough, so he woke me and the missus up twice in the middle of the night to go back outside. So he went out at 1030, 2, and 330. I know he did what he had to do because I stood out there and froze my butt off to make sure, but sure enough he was back in here whimpering a little while later. :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash:

  15. Among NBCSports or whatever, NHLN, MSG, and CBC (ok, you don't get that in Ohio, but who the hell said you had to live in Ohio?), it's about five nights per week. That's pretty freaking good; I'm not sure that NBA has even that coverage. Eliminate CBC and you still have four games if the Sabres don't play on Saturday night.

Maybe you don't get MSG, though. In that case, I'd recommend moving to Buffalo. It's better than Ohio. I promise.

Unfortunately when the NBA is in season I get it around 5+ nights a week, between ABC, ESPN, TNT, FSOhio. For the NHL - if we are lucky we get one Blue Jackets game a week plus whatever is on Vs and NHL Network.

No arguments on the Ohio thing, though. I'd much rather live in WNY.

  16. One hockey complaint: I don't usually order the Center Ice package because of my work schedule. I don't want to pay when I know I am going to miss a ton of games. That being said - this is 2011 - how can there not be a game on cable every night? OLN/Versus/NBCSports/whatever it is now and the NHL Network should have at least one game on per night, guaranteed.
