  1. At least Gaustad has had enough, but I am starting to worry about this team's heart and willingness to fight through adversity...

BTW, while I am not happy about the way Miller has played of late, tonight he hasn't had much help from anyone in front of hime - like on the 7th goal when McKee and Lydman were no better than cones on the ice - just something for the Leafs to skate around...

  2. I sort of agree with DeLuca on this one. I think for the past two weeks, we had seemingly getting EVERY bounce to go our way. Cross-ice passes weren't getting deflected or hopping over sticks, pucks were hitting the post and finding their way in, etc etc.

I think that tonight the Sabres didn't neccessarily get outplayed (as they did in the OTT and ATL games), just fell victim to a couple of really strange goals. I think Miller stops the 4th Carolina goal 99 times out of 100.

    My take on the game:

We didn't get outworked for most of the game, but I think we had a couple passengers at different times tonight.

I think it was actually a blessing in disguise that they didn't come back to win the game - hopefully they realize that in crunch time and the playoffs, they can't throw together 20 minutes of hockey and still win.

We did have some strange bounces go against us, but it seems like we were also making some bad decisions at times - like the bad pass/turnover when Tallinder jumped up in the rush on the first goal.

I thought Novotny was one of the best Sabres on the ice for most of the game, and I was glad to see him get a goal at the end.

Tallinder had a rough game defensively last night. I think he was on the ice for 3 of the Canes' 4 goals, and was directly involved in two of them. Also, if I remember right, he fell with the puck late in the game and turned the puck over that turned into another scoring opportunity. He has been one of our better defensemen for most of the year, so I am not too worried. All in all I am more encouraged by the team's third-period performance than I was discouraged by their first two periods.

  3. we didnt play well enough in the first period to win, but i personnaly thought the officiating was otrocious. The fantom diving call they called on Briere still has me scratching my head.

Absolutely agree - the refs were atrocious all around, and even Lorentz was wondering how the Sabres benefited from a couple non-calls. Before the game started, I mentioned to my wife that I hadn't heard of either of the refs in this game, and now I can see why. I wouldn't plan on doing many playoff games if I were those two...

That said, they aren't the reason why we came out with no jump and looked sloppy & disorganized throughout in the first two periods...

  4. I think i'm going to call directv and complain about these clowns... I recommend anyone else who has center ice through directv do the same. Complain about NESN, pimp msg, complain that the viewers do not get to choose the feed of their choice, and demand some credit!

Not a bad idea. I, for one, wouldn't mind paying a little extra for the Center Ice package if we could get only the MSG feeds all year long.
  5. Wow, these guys are really crying about that. I am not saying Briere was in the right on this one, but that doesn't mean he dove into Thomas when he was pushed. These guys accuse everyone of diving, they need a physics lesson. For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. If you push a player, he will move in the other direction.

EDIT: They just showed the replay. While a penalty should have been called on Briere, I don't think he took a run at Thomas. His back was to him. I doubt he knew exactly where Thomas was.

I'm glad to see that I am not the onyl one sick & tired of listening to this two idiots behind the mic on the Bruins feed. In the last game the color commentator was calling for a penalty shot to be called when Numminen tripped that Bruin before he got to the loose puck at center ice, and kept arguing for a penalty shot, even after acknowledging he never had possession of the puck.

BTW, is anyone else getting sick of them painting Briere as some kind of out-of-control menace? "Typical Briere fashion?"
