While I agree about Power having a terrible year and lacking significant toughness (I’ve been discussing this issue with most of the team for over a year), no way do you get rid of him.

You get in his face and challenge his weak ass. Tell him he needs to come to camp much stronger and not even think about putting skates on unless he’s at 225 to 230 with added muscle. And faster.

I agree with most of the others but Krebs. You just can’t dump half a team without legit replacements. At least Krebs adds a modicum of toughness to an otherwise soft team. The softest team in hockey.

So you want to turn into Risto 2.0?

I have absolutely nothing against the players.   This season is mostly on DG and KA - the 3 goalie tryout told us we weren’t really serious about playoffs or we just overestimated how ready Levi was.

Skinner can’t be a top 6 forward on this team bc he brings nothing defensively and he’s going to see top 6 forwards across from him.

His soft style and lack of defense are an overall net negative.

He needs to be on a physical team that needs some offense and can surround him with guys harder on the puck.  That or on a line with like McDavid.  Which will never happen.  But if it did he’d score 50.  Tags isn’t a facilitator and that’s why that line (which isn’t good on faceoffs) was figured out quickly by the league.

And when we’ve moved him to a 3rd line role he’s made no one better around him.

His game is what this team needs less of.

Yep 1000% right  He isn't a bottom 6 players either.   Skinner the player isn't really the issue - a lot of teams have a player that only cares about offence.  the Skinner persona is really the issue The 1000 games without making the playoffs, the happy go lucky attitude, doesn't seem like a guy that really cares if they win or lose. You can not have one of the 2 players on your team over 30 be a guy that doesn't bring it every shift at both ends of the ice.   He is supposed to be a role model for the youngest team in the league

relegate him to 13 forward or buy him out

Who one this roster is going to have the courage to go into the dirty areas and do the things needed to win in a playoff game or race?  They have a team entirely made up up perimeter players.  Tuch gets there sometimes.  Cozens acts like he wants to but have we seen it.  All I see is a team that wants to score pretty goals on 30 ft slap shots.  Don’t get me started with the defense.  Which one of these all offense Dmen is going to be our rock?  Someone that clears the crease, gives opponents fear when they enter the zone or god forbid hit anyone when it matters?

Who is that on the Canucks ?  They were a tire fire just over a year ago

they bring in Tochett and make a few changes to the bottom of the lineup and a couple of new dmen   Certainly didn't blow their team up

And im not saying just make a coaching change in Buffalo.  They need to revamp the bottom 6 and get guys who are physical and bring energy   But a coach can make a world of difference

If you bring back all of the same players with a different coach, the outcome won’t be much different.

    I don't agree with this
I think the Canucks are a prime example on what difference a coach can make

I can’t believe anyone is seriously wanting to move on from Power after one season where nearly the entire team fell short of expectations, as individuals and a group.

The one thing that Adams could do to signal that expectations are changing is to replace Granato with an experienced NHL head coach with a multi year track record of 45+ win playoff seasons. There are a handful currently available and likely to be more when the season ends and after some 1st rd playoff failures. Personally, I wish Granato had been provided more to work with this year. That would make the decision easier.  As is, it will take a new and experiences head coach to raise organizational expectations and fan optimism.

It's laughable.  Same people always want guys to be traded before they develop.  Dahlin and Mitts are 2 recent examples.   There is a reason there aren't many 20 year old dmen in the league.   You come off like an idiot if youve Given up on a player so young.

The first two players I want to see traded are Alex Tuch and Dylan Cozens just to wake some Buffalo Sabres fans up they aren’t that good. Two very overrated hockey players. Pick two defenseman to keep between Dahlin, Byram or Power. I would go with trading Owen Power. Even though I am tempted to trading Rasmus Dahlin he is well paid and his act is growing old another player that is overrated for his yearly pay scale level. I expect a lot more from that bum than the Sabres are getting. I keep UPL but on a short term contract not long term with two levels of pay structure depending if he can beat out Devon Levi in training camp or not if UPL can’t he gets a lower NHL salary. So if UPL wins the Sabres job in training camp he gets what he asked for if he can’t he has to accept the Sabres lower salary. That to me is fair with UPL. I am open for all trades regardless of the player. If someone wants to overpay for Tage Thompson or Devon Levi the Sabres should be open for business. I am also open to selling Buffalo Sabres players if it keeps the Buffalo Sabres games affordable. It’s not like these bums have won anything. Also new Buffalo Sabres policy any Sabres player or Sabres employee that lashes out at Sabres fans in post game interviews or not saluting the Sabres fans is suspended 1/10th of his yearly salary that will take care of that crap the ungrateful bums in my opinion. Go Sabres! Let’s Go Buffalo

Love it.  April fools joke obviously.  Good job!

Here's are team PP stats... Skinner is out #1 power play guy.

Skinner is not our problem. OUR REAL PROBLEM IS SKINNER IS OUR #1 PP GUY. If you want to blame anyone, blame Cozens, Tuch, and Tage for sucking so hard compared to last year.

Combine this with the fact that year after year our 3rd and 4th lines are a bunch of scrubs.

The 4th line should be guys who wear hard hats and bring it every game. Play physical and provide energy  Not sure I would call them scrubs but definitely not your Jeff Skinner types either.

WHomever had their hands on the construction of PP, be it either Elllis or DG (or both)  needs to be fired into the sun.

My guess is that until his production falls off a cliff he'll be on our roster. If he scores 30 this year that will be 3 years in a row he's hit that bench mark or above so I don't see them moving on until that total comes down but I'd love to see them add a better top line LW, maybe Peterka takes over that roll with Thompson and Quinn? That's the hope, then Skinner, Cozens and Tuch line 2. If we can get some better caliber players in our bottom 6 , more Greenway types imo, maybe Kulich makes the leap, Rousek and some veterans would be ideal.

In the 3 years prior to be traded by the Hurricanes she 24, 37 and 28 but they realize its not just about scoring goals and were a much better team immediately after trading him for Cliff Pu and some draft picks.   Sabres need to do the same.

I already posted the advanced stats (ex GF%). It says he's not so good 5 on 5 at 45.8%. The not-so advanced stats (GF%) have him at 55%. That's pretty good actually... 4th on the team.

But it's his PP where he excels. He's far and away our best PP guy.

You might not like it hearing it, but without question he helps us win games.

I think he is terrible on the PP. Yes he has 8 goals and that leads the team but he isn't strong on the puck and isn't the best passer in the world. Think he is now on PP2 which is where he belongs.

More from Brind'Mour  after trading away Skinner " I  think it sends a message of what kind of Hurricane we're looking for, what kind of player we want."

The 6 years prior to trading Skinner, the Hurricanes have a record of 192-198 with zero playoff appearances. 35-35-11 in the 2017-18 season.

The next year after trading away Skinner, adding Svechnikov as a rookie and flip Hanifan for Hamilton they go 48-29-7.

That 35-25-7 record seems familiar to Sabres fans.

well sure - if there are enough solid veterans and leaders around him and the culture is pre built - he is a nice 3rd line winger that gets additional minutes when the team is down multiple goals going into the 3rd period.

the sabres are not that team.

also - he is probably not a 25-30 goal scorer in that scenario - probably a 15-20 goal scorer if he maintains interest levels.

Actually the reason I don't want  him on the Sabres next year is because I don't think he should be in the Bottom 6 and I think both JJP and Benson have passed him as the top 6 wingers going into next year.

  10. Here is a question for the peanut gallery

skinner has 3 goals in his last 9 games.   Which would be about 28 over an 82 game season

now all 3 came in one game

would you consider this player a consistent scorer or inconsistent?

    Rod Brind'amour knew.
here is a quote before Jeff was traded to the Sabres

"Now we've got guys to push him out of spots," Brind'Amour said. "If you're not going to quite dig in every shift then maybe you don't get every shift. That's definitely what I'm trying to preach and I've got to back that up."

yes he scores BUT at what cost to the team?
