Na, Mike Peca as Assistant HC be more fitting. I'm indifferent on Ruff, as I didn't see any great retreads available but Lindy without a great goalie is meh.
Most coaches need great goaltending to be fair

People told me he was washed last year and would be a horrible signing. Sometimes I get the feeling people on message boards don’t know everything.😜
You mean the ones that said they drafted the wrong player from the Ottawa 67 a few years ago? Or The ones that thought the Bills drafted the wrong Josh? Or The message boards that wanted Dahlin traded? And Thompson waived? The message boards that wanted UPL cut? The ones that said Mitts was a bust ? Or do you mean the current boards that want Power traded?
I think you might be onto something , that there are a lot of posters (often myself included) that have don't have a clue

If the Avs get any type of goaltending , they will win this series
If the Sabres find someone to stand in front of the net like on the PP like the Avs do, Dahlin could score 25 to 30

For me it's Mack Celebrini, Ivan Demidov, trade the pick.
Yes me too but let's pretend they keep the pick until they don't.

Here is a list that will have some opinions about it😁
Here are my realistic players that I would like the Sabres to draft
in no particular order
Michael Brandsegg-Nygard, RW,
Liam Greentree, RW, Windsor
Tij Iginla, LW, Kelowna
Adam Jiricek, RHD, Plzen

Assuming we don't trade #11 for some immediate veteran help, I'd say that Tij Iginla would be my first choice as a realistic #1 pick. Good chance he's gone by then, though, especially with Calgary slotted ahead of us.
That would be lots of pressure for him if the flames selected him

Listening to the press conference , I couldn't help but think that Lindy is already a done deal

WGR is debating who could be the favorite on next coach. Lindy keeps coming up.
I love the idea of Brind'Amour, but Lindy not out of the question - firey but has proven he can develop young guys in his reboot in NJ.
He loves Buffalo and would be a fan favorite out of the gate, perhaps Lindy is a credible bridge to the long term coach.
I understand the "no way to Lindy" crowd, but it legitimately could make some sense and could work.
I'm sure I'm wrong and often am. But I know I don't know and never say never.
Go Sabres!
Forever fan even through the valley of despair.
The more I think about Lindy behind the bench game 1 next season, the more excited I get to see it happen. Would be electric

Where’s the Lindy crowd?
Not far behind the Brind'mour crowd if he becomes available
bigger question - where is the Ted Nolan crowd? Lol

Sabres make a move. Que the Bills to make a big splash in the next hour to get this story swept under the rug !

Don had a lot of faults but he did a lot of good too
Plus I think we can all agree he is a good man
wish him the best of luck.

Heading to bed in Tokyo soon. I know they won game 82 against an unmotivated Tampa team but when I wake up I better frickin' see a new topic posted about Granato and staff being fired.
You will be a happy man!

Usually a new head coach will pick his staff? If so, the new guy will definitely keep Ellis away from the power play
good news !

Last post of the game day season....
there are some positives that happened this season
1) UPL was tremendous and we have to feel good with the tandem of Levi and UPL for the next while (though it's not 100% Levi will be the back up next year).
2) the emergence of JJP as a top line winger
3) Benson has been a delight to watch. I see a big increase in his point production next year
4) the play of Tage and Tuch over the last couple of months I had feared they were both broken earlier this year
5) everyone is gonna be a year older
6) Greenway was good I think a lot of us thought he was gonna be trash after last season
7) Jack Quinn looks to be a legit 25 goal player, who is intelligent, skilled and plays with intensity
8 - Dahlin may have slipped a little from last year but still scored 20 and is a solid top 10 Dman in this league and still has the potential to the best as he just turned 24
9) a lot of people complain about Power cause he isn't physical but some of the analytics community think he was their best dman this year
10) the largest silver lining of missing the playoffs is that there is gonna be big changes to the coaching staff. IMO, if they snuck into the playoffs and got swept in 4 - They would have brought everyone back So that's a positive for next season maybe?
hope everyone stays safe and healthy this off-season. I'll spend some time on the draft thread, otherwise I'll be back in September. Next year is our year ! Go Sabres !

Sorry they won and played well.
I hope everyone will take an interest in the Amerks playoff run. They are playing their best hockey now. I will start Amerk game threads the rest of the way. Consider getting AHL TV for the playoffs.
I'll be watching and cheering them on

The only player in the bottom six I’d like on next seasons team is Greenway. And it wouldn’t take much to convince me he should go to. Just a whole lot of nothing in that group. No offense, no hitting, no good defense. Just blah.
Correct the bottom 6 needs to be overhauled. greenway stays but everyone else ... see you. That includes Skinner and Krebs

Benson > Skinner and it's not close

His injury really screws the projection. He's been out almost all year and when he did play, looked meh. That said he was a 17yr old in the top Czech league so why would he look great? I think if I'm Buffalo, I'd consider trading up either in round 2 or into round 1. I don't think he'll slide much into round 2 but maybe. His 16yr old year in Czech Jr was really solid and I really liked him. Like his brother he's offensively gifted while having a physical element. With a June bday and a full year of development lost, there could be a top 10 talent there. Still, it's risky.
He's a 6'2" rhd who can skate with good offensive instincts. He's 100% worth our second round pick.
Thanks. I assumed he was going to slot somewhere from 15 to 24 or so. You are probably right , his injury could drop him down to rd 2

@LGR4GM what are your thoughts on Adam Jiricek?

I'm hoping they trade this pick for an actual NHL player.
I think a lot of us do but let's try keep the chat about prospects, until it's actually traded

I'll be Really surprised if 2 VET centres arent brought in next season
one who will be 2/3 And the other to be a 4rh liner
Pretty sure Krebs will be gone in the offseason
-
William Carrier would be a good guy to go after
I try Monahan if I can't get someone to trade them a 2/3 Centre in a trade

You don't know who he called and spoke to? We wanted an experienced, passionate, no nonsense coach and they got one
Don't be miserable just for the sake of being miserable
I don't care who you interview, there isn't a coach out there that wants to win for the city of Buffalo any greater than Lindy does.
