With the upcoming schedule, I see a 6 game losing streak
i don't see how they win any of the next 4 on the road. Maybe if one of the teams takes a night off like the Sabres did today
I don't think you can play UPL again. I hate to be too hard on a goalie when you get shut out but he has to make the save on the 2nd goal. This team isn't good enough to overcome a bad goal against every single game he starts

How many glorious chances have they had in the game ?
answer is 3
Doan had 2 - both set up by Quinn. The other by Tuch (he who shall not be criticized) and again missed it. But hey , at least he hit the net
-
First time since game 3 their effort is missing.
game is extremely boring and I'm moving over to Football.-

You are on a anti-Ruff Crusade. He is one the the better players on team. Not a perfect player, but he brings a lot and he is far from being a problem on this team.
Tuch Shooting Percentage - Career: 12.4%
2024-2025 season: 18.3% (82 games, 36 goals)
2023-2024 season: 11.5% (75 games, 22 goals)
2022-2023 season: 16.5% (74 games, 36 goals)
2021-2022 season: 8.6% (50games, 12 goals)
Now factor in hits, blocked shots, PK, leadership/toughness.
Not all shots are the same. He misses glorious opportunities.
And I like Tuch but he shouldn't be above criticism is my point. especially last night he missed a complete open net on the 3 on 1 You could hear the exasperation in Rob Rays voice right after he missed ithe missed a point blank opportunity right before the Utah goal and it was literally his man that got away from him
He seems to be the one guy that always gets a pass. )

I think people blame Power too much. I pointed out a few games ago.. power was on the ice and a goal was scored against the sabr.. when if you break down the replay he was the actual only player on that entire side of the ice that played it correctly.
So yeah, I agree. There are people who have it out for power that will just blame him for things that aren't even his fault if he was anywhere near something bad that happens.
Quinn, on the other hand, I have been very tough on and I believe he fully deserves it. He has played somewhat better this year... But still not a complete game. Last year, however, I truly think he may have been the worst forward in the NHL of guys who played a regular shift in their top 9 around the league.
Tuch is good, he is solid all around, he plays a complete game. He's not perfect though, he does make mistakes And he does have bad games.
If Tuch only had a bit more accuracy on his shot.
I dare to say, no one misses the net on high danger chances more than him-

You can say "bottom line" all you want but you are blatantly wrong. I already acknowledged Tuch missed his man, that doesn't pardon Quinn for his play. He was in position and another player would have moved up and used his body. Quinn just tried a feeble stick check and got walked past.
Look, it's a TEAM game with interconnected responsibility. If there was a breakaway and you were across the ice you don't say "Oh, not my man, I can go to the bench" you hustle across the ice in desperation and try to cover for the guy who missed his check. This wasn't a breakaway but I hope that illustrates the point for you with a blatantly obvious example.
So it's fair to say if Tuch gets his man Quinn doesn't have to make the play but it's not fair to say it's not also Quinn's fault.
They aren't desperate enough and aggressive enough in OT. They love open ice and think they can just take turns at possession and make nice plays. They need to use their speed and attack the other team's puck carriers more. Create puck battles and then win them.
Ok so why did your original post only blame Quinn?
if Tuch converted on any of his two glorious chances (including a wide open net). This conversation doesn't even happen
my point is, for many on this board the fingers are always pointed at Quinn and Power.
On a night like last night a guy like Tuch shouldn't be above criticism.

Ok but your replacement can not be Bryson

They have a good roster, a HOF QB and less than $3 mill in cap space. The opportunities are limited. You could argue that holding onto draft picks extends the window of opportunity as those players (see Max Hairston and Cole Bishop) can help the Bills get the chip.
Would I have been excited to see a new player on the team? Of course but I’m not crying about them not getting anyone. They signed Bosa in the offseason. He’s rounding into form. Losing Hoecht blows but injuries happen.
At some point you just have to go for it
Look at the Eagles. This year and last
way more aggressive

You might want to put this narrative forward and it might be Tuch's man, but go ahead and explain what Quinn is doing there. If he steps up and plays the body the play doesn't happen but since he's soft, he waives his stick and does nothing. When a player loses his man (like Tuch did) it's incumbent on the next guy to step into that gap and take him. Quinn was right there.
Quinn has a responsibility of his man. He gets caught flat footed as he first moves towards his man before realizing Tuch got beat
bottom line. That was Tuchs responsibility.
he should get called out, just like anyone else on this team-

You were correct here. Sabres being the physical team was a new thing in this era. Aside from the OT, this is not the same Sabres team as last year. Much much better. The OT, well, that looked like the same old Sabres. Quinn just waiving his stick in the guy's direction and letting him go right to the net. You just have to play the man and the body there. But lots of things to like in the game as a whole. The Swedish kids have some chemistry too.
Quinn is the weakest link.
Rewatch. That's 100% on Tuch.

The OT winner has nothing to do with Quinn. It’s Tuch’s assignment and he gets beat to the inside. That’s the breakdown. Period.
Also worth remembering:
Tuch had an uncontested shot from the slot and didn’t score
Tuch had a wide-open 3-on-1 and missed the net completely
But everyone’s dumping on Quinn and Power because it fits the narrative.

Just quickly scrolled through the game on replay
My simple analysis is :
Our guy Tuch missed a wide open net
their guy Schmaltz buried his chance with the open net
I do like Tuch but really really wished he could be a slight more accurate on his shots. Too many glorious opportunities where he completely misses the net
Not too disappointed overall with the game Good bounce back by Lyon from his last start
need to beat the Blues on Thursday

Agree. Norris is a bust, imo. Adams took a chance and lost.
So, after word gets out Power and Quinn are available, Adams answers his phone and attempts to turn a magic trick into a magic show by putting together a deal for 2 Top 6 proven scoring Forwards with speed and grit in their prime. Toss in some SC experience.
Only Dahlin, Benson, Tuch, and Levi are untouchable.
He has plenty of other cards up his sleeve he can play.
Abracadabra.
Why the heck would Tuch be untouchable?

I'll add Kulich is dealing with something that isn't an injury.
Seems to be an inner ear issue that he picked up while he was sick
hopefully not out too long

Zucker is sick
Kulich is dealing with someone that isn't physical (non-injury)

I will never understand why we always have to have this winning percentage argument. All I know is that I sure am glad the Sabres went 3-0-3 over the last 6 instead of 4-2-0.
Excellent

Guess UPL has reclaimed his net
Great job by him and the Penalty Killers!!

Someone else did. The rest I agree with.
EDIT:I mean the “their goalie was better than ours” bit. Not the calculator bit.
As long as you don't plan to argue that the Sabres scored 3 and were expected to score 4.21. That's not .21 difference

So, wait,… the expected goals was .21 above the actual?
I guess I stand corrected.
That was some other worldly goaltending that I should probably rewatch to see what I missed the first time.
We did not get goalied.
What was the final score? Should I mail you a calculator?
Didn't say goalied either. I said their goalie was much better than our goalie -

That’s after their goals, not after some crazy save by Korprisalo. His saves were what you expect an NHL goaltender to make.
Expected goals Buffalo 4.21 Boston 2.41
probability of winning was 70% Buffalo
the goalies were the difference. Case closed. On to tomorrows game

Dahlin took a stupid penalty early in the 1st period that resulted in a Boston PP goal. Dug a hole for the team.
That in no way shape or form was a penalty that should have been called

I still disagree.
Honest question. At any point in the game did you say to yourself, "I can't believe we are not winning this game!…"
I didn't. It's not like their goalie stood on his head making unbelievable saves.
Yes at many points in the game I thought they should be winning.

As goalies are part of the team, the Sabres were not the better team.
Sorry. I should have qualified
if you don't include the goalies where Korp was clearly better than Lyon , the Sabres were clearly the better team

People are making excuses for Dahlin when he f**ks up saying that his mind is on his fiancé. If his mistakes are because of that then he shouldn’t be playing. He should get his mind straight by going to her. Plain and simple.
imo I don’t think that’s the case. I think he’s is just making bad decisions like the rest of this team.
How exactly did he ***** up? He blew a tire trying to make a smart play

How anyone disagrees here is amazing
im serious considering just skipping the next week of Sabres hockey
if they get a win in their next 3 , maybe I'll watch the game against the wings
fully expect them to go 0-3 though
