    Blow a 2 goal least. Typical Sabres. At least they don't disappoint. The Sabres are consistently crappy. Oh well....78 games to go.

    Crappy defense in their own end by the Sabres. Weber slow to the shooter.

    Sabres with a lead going into the 3rd is a mild surprise this season.

    Sabres are treating this like a pick up game. First 3 games in....the team can't score, play defense in their own end and the PP is nonexistent. Hope the young guys start to shine but it is a a rerun of the past 2 seasons.

    Team is out of steam and has legs of lead in both 3rd periods. Need to easy off the gas in the first 2 periods? We shall see how Nolan handles this.

    You can tell some are itching to do it. Give them (Meszaros and Gionta) time to mesh and see what happens. It is a long season.

    This team is much more different than last season's soul crushing squad. They are young, hungry and hustle. This squad might not win a lot of games but they will make watching the game enjoyable.

    New era is at hand in Buffalo. A GM who wants to shape a team of young guns into achievers. The days of giving lip service to winning and not gutting it out on the ice are over. If you don't want to be a part of the solution, don't let the door hit you in the rear. Erhoff wanted out but he had a contract no one wanted to assume. Was he an asset? Yes. Could his trade brought in another player of picks? Yes. Was it doable? No. Tough decision had to be made and Murray was up to the task. After the bleak end of the Regier regime this is a bright dawning of a new day and I like it.

    Sabres will get Sam Reinhart. The Hockey News Draft Preview had an interesting analysis of the last 10 years of draft picks after the second round. The best percentage to have picks play 50 plus NHL games was Columbus (19.3%) and WInnipeg was worst (1.8%). Sabres were 9th at 14.3 %. NHL draft is a crap shoot at best after the second round. NFL 5th and 6th round picks contribute. Interesting difference. I would go for college grads in the late rounds, you know what you got and they can fill spots in the minors while the higher picks get groomed for the big show.

    Miller, on a better team, was not better. Save percentage dropped from .923 to .903. Was not a difference maker in the series. Ryan is past his prime so I would let him play out his career on someone else's roster. Now he realizes that he was on a team that was favored to make a strong run to the Cup but now he is going home.

    I knew it! They tanked and can not catch a break. No big loss. No consensus who is the number 1.
