    And Adrian Dantley.

RIP to the man who destroyed NBA basketball in Buffalo and laughed all the way to the bank, swapping the Braves for the Celtics.  Talk about lopsided trades.

Sadly had Brown kept the Braves together, we could have had a team of HofFers Malone, Dantley, McAdoo, with all-star Randy Smith at the point, and all-star Kauffman as the other guard.  Instead Malone, McAdoo and others were traded for cash, picks and junk players to help pave the way for the David Stern brokered swap of the Braves for the Celtics, so that the Celtics owner could more the corpse of the Braves to San Diego.

Wasn't Kauffman gone by the time we had Marin, McMillan, Heard, etc?

What is the difference? It’s called player development. For some patience is a virtue. For some patience pays off. I am personally not surprised that a young player, over the course of four or five or six years gets better and better and better with the proper development. And development is an all encompassing word.

An example was last night - the two goals they gave up at end 2d, start 3d would have led to an avalanche and loss in prior years. Here, they bucked up, steadied themselves and won against a good team on the road.

No shame in that. Far from it. The A is (arguably?) the second best professional hockey league in the world.

A friend of mine has a kid (no longer a kid) who's made a career in the AHL. There have been probably fewer than 30 NHL games along the way for him. The guy's into his early 30's now, has worn a letter for at least one AHL team, and has been smart with his money. Perhaps he hasn't lived "the" dream, but he's lived "a" dream.

There are definitely worse ways to earn a living

Until his final walkout onto the ice for the final ovation, it'll just be another season ender.

Expecting the full barn & playing a team they "know" they're better than and wanting to have 1 final hurrah to savor as a team (knowing after stall cleanouts the team won't be back in this incarnation & they all seem to truly love each other as a family) will cause them to win this one emphatically.

It'll be fun.  But the true emotion will hit at the end.

They're asking people to stick around after Rick James is no longer blaring from the speakers.  That's when it will get misty.

Rick has lost a step.  He doesn't always know who has the puck, but he still has his cadence & you almost have to be listening for it to hear the drop off.  So, in a very real way am glad that he is going out now while still very good.

Ted Darling's disease made his last days memorable for the wrong reasons.  Van Miller was a shell before he hung it up.  Both had significantly diminished.  RJ's not SIGNIFICANTLY diminished.  Can't wait to hear him call the game when we get back home.  It'll be glorious.  It's the right time.

It's sad that he's leaving just when the Sabres are starting g to come back.  But he'll always be in this kid's heart.  Just like I still get goosebumps thinking of Van's "it's pandemonium, it's fandemonium, it's faaan-tas-tic" or a smile thinking about the Sabres upcoming shhedule or the lady from Eden who got a souvenier, will always have a special place for Jeanneret in my heart.  He wasn't always the Sabres to me - that was Ted, but he's become it so much.

Don't know how it'll be, just know tonight in it's own way will be, in Van's words, fan-tas-tic.

Couldn't have said it better myself, especially Ted and the lady from Eden getting a souveneir. It simply reminds me I'm not a 10 year old listening to the transistor radio in bed as a west coast game starts against the golden seals!

Despite setting an AHL goal record, Guy Trottier did not have much of an NHL career with the Leafs. Villamure backed up Eddie Giacomin on the Rangers, who were the Bisons parent club.

I was old enough to go to games and remember the championship, but young enough not to understand the farm system. I think my thoughts we - just because we’re changing our name doesn’t mean we should get rid of out best players

I listen to that Bison Championship win on my Sylvania transistor radio.  I just can’t remember the announcer.  It should have been RJ.

I cared more about Guy Trottier and Gil Villemiere at the time.

I remember my disappointment that Trottier and Villamuere wouldn't play for Buffalo the following season!
