Pre Sabres, my favorite hockey player as a kid was Bobby Orr.  He was young looking, and fast, and no one played like him.  He really had no peer back then

My favorite Buffalo Bison, going back to 1967,  was a guy named Dennis Hextall.    https://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=2262

He could score and fight.  Dennis would drop the gloves, win the fight, and then fix his hair while skating his way to the penalty box.  Hilarious but cool.

When the Sabres were born Gil immediately became my new favorite and the Bruins became the enemy, although Toronto was an even bigger enemy.

I've always had my greatest disdain for the B's. Born of how good they were at the Sabres birth and attending the game Schoeny fought Orr, Vadnais, Cashman

It’s funny, first thing I thought of when reading the original post was Guy Trottier.

The first pro hockey game I attended was a Bisons game that final season. Guy had a hat trick and I was hooked!

I remember still savoring the Buffalo Bisons 1969-70 Calder Cup Championship that final AHL season. Then, raising the roof on the Aud, and adding the Oranges.

While I remember it, I was young enough that I couldn't understand why we'd lose stars like Guy Trottier for the next season.

    Eff Arby’s.

The last time I went there, they refused to make my beef and cheddar on a seeded bun instead of an onion bun. Even after I told them that I’m allergic to onions, they stuck to their guns.

I haven't been to an Arby's in 35 years. Last time I pulled in to an Arby's the sign said was open 24/7 it was closed.  Never again

It's funny too, now that you mention it.

I remember my Mom and Dad getting all dressed up to go to a Sabres (or Braves) game, which was usually preceded by dinner at the Aud Club.

And while my Dad's ties were always fat....they were never tacky! (other than the material)

    Good times.

Like my Dad's ties - made from a fabric not occurring in nature!

Franchise best right winger is a good debate, in my opinion.

Nobody can come close to Mogilny’s ridiculous 76 goal-season, but he’s actually just number 6 in all-time scoring, a few points back of Miro Satan (who was too 1-dimensional to deserve consideration.)

The other 4 are all within 50 Sabre points of each other. Robert edges Pominville for #4 in a tight race for that 100-point season in otherwise pick-em careers.

Mogilny is the most talented and dangerous RW ever to lace them up in Buffalo, but too many of his seasons were disrupted by injury or drama and his career was cut short. He’s #3 for me.

#2 is the best power forward in Sabres history. Punishing 40 goal scorers don’t happen very often, especially ones that can chuck the knuckles, backcheck and lead like Mike Foligno could.

And #1 is Danny Gare who not only leads the group in career goals, but also is it’s only 2-time 50-goal scorer, who has the # 2, 3, 9 and 11th best all-time single season points for RWs and 2, 3, 4, and 8 for goals. Like Foligno he was tough, diligent defensively and a captain. Like Mogilny, he was a Rocket Richard winner before the trophy existed. He was also clutch.

I'll opine on the RW debate - which is interesting. I think Gare is the clear #1. In my opinion, Robert is the clear #2. Here is likely his greatest moment as an NHL player

I chose them at their NHL peaks (why I chose Crozier over Miller)

I choose Crozier to backup Hasek and possibly Joe Crozier as the coach

We need a 3 man booth - Ted Darling and RJ sharing the play by play, while Lorentz is in the booth with  commentary.

Yup.  Billy did a nice job until the playoffs.   That was also the year that Schoeny, Guevremont, and Hajt all missed about half of the games with injuries.   Hajt and Guevremont missed the playoffs too.    This kid learned that year that Billy Hajt was really pretty dam good back there.

That Sabres team just never got going and lost in the best of 3 first round playoffs 2 games to 1.  They blew leads and lost both of their home games, losing to a very mediocre powder blue Penguin squad.  The Sabres looked like they were playing with 20 pound weights on their legs that series.  They were terrible in that playoff.

    The Imlach era was over.

The next season started the Bowman era, with Scotty as both Coach and GM, something he had not done before.  Next season also brought in the WHA franchises and the game started to change.

IIRC, the ice was still a clean sheet when the Pens won the series in OT. Made me want to jump from my orange seat
