  1. Bump Foligno to the 4th line and put Grigs on the line 3 wing.

Don't see that as matching Murray's vision, and personally I think Foligno has more to offer than a Kaleta or a Deslauriers.

I think he is pencilled in long-term as adding heavy to the top nine, either with one of the young centres, or on a shutdown unit.

And I think his play most of this season has shown he can do that: 15/15/30 with a lot of hits, some PK time and some protection for the kids.

In Murray's world, I think Grigo for Foligno makes our top nine too soft.

(Isn't it nice to talk hockey?)

  2. Tank-busting isn't going to happen because it ignores the best business interests of the league.

The NHL sells its customers hope and dreams of glory. McEichel is why the Sabres' fan base has endured this miserable season; it may be hockey's only hope in the desert. Most of the league is not Toronto and Edmonton. Most fan bases that have fallen on hard times need a reason to come back next season.

  3. I posed the seemingly nonsensical idea that Murray might want Eichel over McDavid. Took some catcalls. Fine. Murray at least seems to be doing his due diligence in going to watch McDavid and Eichel play. Is his mind really made up? Or, more plausibly, is he actually going to see other guys? Strome etc.

Due diligence, Strome, O'Connor, Baptiste, location, and just a chance to watch some good, meaningful hockey?

  4. If no other changes are made up front, next year we are looking at:

    Kane Reinhart Girgensons

    Moulson Larsson Ennis

    Foligno Grigorenko Gionta

Add a McEichel, a free agent and a possible Hodgson rebound and I'm not sure there is a spot for Mike in the top nine.

    He's not a fourth-line player.

He's looking more and more like the square peg, and trade bait as far as Buffalo goes.

  5. No sympathy for the butthurt fan justifications for cheering the opposition.

It's like going to your daughter's piano recital and booing because she sucks and the sooner she realizes it and moves on to other things the better.

Fans need to remember this suffering we are all going through is 10 times worse for players like Weber and Kaleta.

It will all be over soon. Have a little dignity and show a little respect.

  6.

And correct me if I am wrong, their coach has preached all year about he has had"passengers" , even said post game last night he had some guys who were not "ready to

    Play".

Lost in all this big picture discussion, it looked like Cody Hodgson apparently wasn't one of them.

After Ennis went down it looked like coy  played on the second line until the bitter end.

Sure it was only 11:09 ice time, but it was more than Dalpe, Varone and Kaleta and almost as much as Desauriers.

(Of course Teddy might have been referring to Nikita — 9:46)
