  1. Please let it be something worth getting excited about. A Robertson trade A big middle finger to Drury with a Cuylle offer sheet. Fresh gunwale wax on the SS Pegula.
  2. $2M here $3.3M in the Clifton deal $1M not qualifying JBD $5.5M in the Peterka trade. What the hell are they up to?
  3. Kinda surprised we got a pick for him and had to add a pick to dump Conor Clifton. He might have cost $1M more, but least Clifton is a right-handed defenceman, which should have meant something.
  4. And another salary dump/roster clean-out. Very disappointing addition. Liked what I saw of him prior to Buffalo and thought he was going to be a good add. But he brought essentially nothing.
  5. More than any team beyond the Sabres, yes, yes and yes. I’d take him over Luukkonen. Pretty sure he has no trade protection though.
  6. Three years is interesting. The idea of having an NHL blueliner at that wage for three years seems like a win for the Sabres. Its only a win for Johnson if he fails to make the team. Kinda the opposite of betting on yourself.
  7. Yep. I have now problem with the Demko contract, or the Lankinen money in a vacuum. On the same team, with so many issues up front and not many options to fix it, it’s an odd choice. I guess they felt their other options were making their team worse.
  8. ***** man, Im struggling to figure out JBD’s non-qualifier. Now you want me to figure out Kevyn Adams?
  9. Possible scenario: Sabres: OK, I’m going to offer you Cozens, Gilbert and a 2nd. Ottawa: value seems fair, but we’re looking at other moves and need to save space under the 50 contract limit (or the 23-man roster, or the cap, etc.) Sabres: well we could use another D to play out the season, but it has to be an expiring contract. Ottawa: what about Docker, he’s the odd man out now with Gilbert coming in. Sabres: minimum wage guy, right? Sure, let’s do it.
  10. No, I think we’re all out of Latvians now.
  11. Once again the Sabres showing they have a good handle on what’s wrong with their product and how to fix it.
  12. It’s almost like they only took on JBD in the trade for contract reasons, meaning Ottawa wanted them to take him to complete the deal. There’s no way you want a guy, ***** up his immigration papers, play him - successfully - 14 minutes a game for 15 games, then decide you aren’t going to qualify him at league-minimum money. Turning Clifton, Gilbert and essentially 2 seconds into Conor Timmins is one of the most inexplicable pieces of GMing I’ve seen in forever, and I’m a Sabres fan. You can get a Conor Timmins for a 5th-round pick. PIttsburgh did exactly that just 3 months ago. Clifton’s bad and on a bad contract, but it wasn’t anything you couldn’t eat. There was no cap pressure to do anything. There’s a difference between “I don’t like the trade” and something like this that defies logic. Something else has to drop. It feels like they randomly lit a match and burned 2 2nd-rounders.
  13. Buckle up boys and girls. Feels like we’re going to need a lot of comfort food today. Adams is feeling the pressure and won’t get any significant UFAs to bite. I smell Byram for a lesser Dman and a pick and Rust for Helenius or another prospect we like.
  14. Surprised to see how many games he’s played over the last two years. Kinda in that perennial Adams sweet spot of good enough that he might be someone we can ride if Kevyn’s favourites suck again, but bad enough that you can discard if they come to play. Probably not as good as Reimer, but he could be. Sometimes teams get lucky with these guys. Given the goalie market and how early it is, I suspect the contract may raise our eyebrows. Essentially running it back in net again.
  15. Nathan Bastian, Scott Perunovich, Dennis Gilbert
  16. I thought he was like $1.7M with arb rights?
  17. I’m pretty sure Bo Byram has a Stanley Cup ring already. But more misleading stats.
  18. Did the exact same thing to Bryson 2 years ago didn’t they? Didn't qualify him, then signed him for less? I think this forum overrates JBD, but if they don’t spend the cap space it makes no sense at all.
  19. Is it possible the Timmins trade was half a deal? As in Pit wanted the pick, but couldn't move Rust until tomorrow? So there's a Rust for ??? coming soon that would make that deal make a little more sense?
  20. Perbix, Ryan Lindgren and Nate Schmidt are veteran LHDs that I could see the Sabres kicking tires on if they move Byram. Brandan Tanev in the hard-to-play-against forward category? Edit: correction, Perbix is a righty.
  21. None of them seem like reach for the stars players, but they are literally #4, 7 and 9on the Athletic's big board. Slim pickings out there. By the way, qualifying offers are due sometime today I think? Any word on the Sabres?
  22. I'm seeing 8 years, $6.1M?
  23. Every year since Taylor Hall, the Sabres have made some signings. Every year since Taylor Hall, they have been of largely of the Ilya Lybushkin variety. What are your hopes and expectations?
