  1. So long as we continue to pillage, there is at least one team that won't let go.
  2. Lauren Brill ‏@LaurenBrill4 55s I have confirmed, Sabres signed Cody McCormick. #nhlfreeagency
  3. I am the happiest dad in the entire world today!! From the original trade deadline thread:
  4. apparently the isles just signed TJ Brennan. We are so getting McDavid for a Vanek Rental.
  5. Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie 18s Michalek re-signs in OTT. Three years with AAV of $4M.
  6. Islanders sign Chad Johnson to play Goalie.
  7. neal ==> ehrhoff, horqvist, spalding They did not get better in the ways they need to get better (actual defense)
  8. I'm willing to taunt the hockey gods Lieutenant Dan style. Make it:
  9. omg omg omg omg here it comes!
  10. I see this as the core problem with employment based healthcare in general. But the Justices really did go out of their way to make this ruling as absolutely narrow as possible. It only affects a small group of employers who want to deny coverage to women of a very specific set of drugs and devices. Alito specifically wrote that this decision does not extend beyond those narrow parameters.
  11. He was the captain during the Canadiens recent rebuild/turnaround. That's a solid start for building a resume for leadership. And we do need him to be able to play, that's how he'll build confidence in the young players on the ice with him.
  12. Don't make fun of him for it. Quoting popular movies or songs and not wanting Liger to post the clip is like showing up at an AA meeting with an open handle of Smirnoff and telling everyone "hands off".
  13. That spot is still being filled by the Stain of Ron Rolston.
  14. Way too much Boston College.
  15. I like Gionta, so I'd like to see him brought in, and I think we may have a chance: His contract will be an over 35, so it's not like we'll be competing with anyone offering long term deals. His cap will count whether he plays or not. so that will preclude anything longer than 4 years I think. He already has his name on the cup, so that won't be a make-or-break issue. (it may still matter somewhat) We can offer him more money than anyone else in those 3-4 years he may have left playing.
  16. This guys gonna look like an idiot when we make him stop getting haircuts.
  17. The decision was based entirely on the 1993 Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA). A repeal or modification to this law would render the decision today obsolete and require new challenges to be heard on different grounds (likely 1st Amendment). So, while today's decision does set precedent, it does not require an amendment or overturn decision to change it. The court seems to go out of their way in the ruling to avoid invoking the first amendment in the decision.
  18. You'll understand the Legal Logic far better than me, but I love Ginsberg's dissent: "Approving some religious claims while deeming others unworthy of accommodation could be 'perceived as favoring one religion over another,' the very 'risk the [Constitution's] Establishment Clause was designed to preclude."
  19. Maybe a little overkill. I think nfreeman can speak for himself, no reason to put words in his mouth. well said. it's important to remember the builders who got us to this point. I also think freeman is a great choice, and look forward to all the good comments on the entire board being summarized for me when I wake up each morning. ;) __________________________________ Seriously though, thanks for stepping up nfreeman! unrewarding and demanding, you've chosen the motherhood role of the internet.
  20. from Alito's Decision: This decision concerns only the contraceptive mandate and should not be understood to hold that all insurance-coverage mandates, e.g., for vaccinations or blood transfusions, must necessarily fall if they conflict with an employer’s religious beliefs. Nor does it provide a shield for employers who might cloak illegal discriminationas a religious practice.
  21. Tavares will never be the same player again. This latest injury will devastate his production for the rest of his career. Think Mike Bossy. (the previous statement reflects the reality I have constructed in my mind to ensure that our Islanders pick is of maximum value next june.)
