they're not good enough to be a second line, either. well, not a good second line, anyway.

i'd failed to pick up on this until now.

will you still be around these parts when the world cup starts next summer?

Thanks, I still will be in Germany but i most probably won't be able to visit the world cup games in Den Haag.

Why not? They sure have been playing like one.

Moulson's a proven commodity. Ennis has shown second line talent, albeit not consistency. Girgensons has a pedigree and work ethic and continues to improve.

    Their chemistry has been excellent.

I think i am with dudacek on this. On the other hand i was wrong with regard to FES ( Foligno, Ennis, Stafford) before. Time will tell if they can be more constant.

If the players weren't the problem, how was the GM? After all, he acquired all of them. Unless you're going to argue Regier's only mistake was choosing Rolston to succeed Ruff, you don't have much to stand on here.

Vanek and Pominville would make this team better, but so what? They'd still be at best a fringe playoff team without any realistic chance of winning the Cup. If that's your definition of something that would "work" then okay, but otherwise, having your best two players as wingers would still be a problem.

You are right i was not precise there. Of course the gm did not trade or sign the right players. The Ott trade was a good one, the Hodgson trade too, the Gaustad trade too, but he was not able to finalize the picture by adding one or two more center(pieces).

Regiers biggest mistake was the decision for Rolston and to fire Ruff way too late. This he totally mishandled.

With Vanek and Pommers we always only had one scoring line. Now we have not a good one(Gem is great but not a first line) but get good support from our bottom nine. They score not to many goals but the opponent can't score too much either.

A hot first line with Vanek Pommer Hodgson/ Grabovski with Gem( of course we would not have Moulson without Vanek trade), the best 6 of our current bottom nine with the current good D and excellent goaltending would be a team which in my oppinion could go deep.

Of course Chicago, Boston or St. Louis would still be the better team, but in a 7 game series everything can happen. A playoff team which goes deep once is an excellent basis to build a cup contender.

But there would not be a guarantee.

Can you follow me? Of course you don't have to agree but i am happy if you understand the logic of my post ( from a non natural speaker)

We're talking about a 26 year old who is getting better. I don't know about "inspiring his teammates to be better." I'm not sure if that is even a real thing. He certainly is able to create space and opportunities for his teammates.

He passed 65 points his last full season, and is on pace, baring injuries. to finish with 70+ again this season.

I would love a 26 year old like Kessel on the Sabres to build around. Right now the Sabres have nothing close to a Kessel talent wise.

Very true! No one is saying he is the best player in hockey. Once you get past the top 5-10 uber-elite players, Kessel starts to fit into the conversation.

I would also add speed to go along with his shot.

A player like Kessel would be a fine core piece.

Pretty much. Kessel is great, but I don't know how any Sabres fan could possibly want to build around wingers again.

I would love to have those good wingers again. We would not be so far away from a good playoff team.

Not the players were the main issue but the gm and coach. This we learned ( ok we knew that for long) the hard tour. Pommers and Vanek with a coach Nolan would have worked.

    Ok this is bygones now.

I believe you have to build around the stars you have. If these are wingers you build around them. Centers would be better but the Malkin and Crosbys are not growing on trees.

  4. The Thornton assault is inacceptable and gut less. To jump on a player from behind/ side and then knock him out whilelying defenseless on the ground is shameless backdoor alley style where a thug knife down his victim.

This must be 20 games, but the Boston bonus will lead to delucas suggestion.

The hit on Marchand was also gutless ( although particullar Marchand earned it somehow).

I am not sure about the Orpik hit yet. He did not need his elbow to balance after the hit like Scott, but i looked evil. Erikson is really unlucky. And while Seguin dominates in Dallas, Boston will complain about the trade, because currently it seems to be they lost this trade by a large margin.

  5. The father of Leon Draisaitl, Peter Draisaitl, was a very good player for my favorite German hockey team Adler Mannheim (Jochens home team as well).

You pronounce the name as you read it. In English more like dreyeseyetl. ai in German = eye in English. I hope this helps.

I would really like him on our team.

A lot of us are actual fans of the game. We care about more than just the Sabres. I also enjoy seeing guys that have been around here for a while play elsewhere. It's fun to see how their style changes. People sound so bitter when they are so against paying attention to players that leave the organization.

    I totally agree.

To ease the pain the Sabres are causing this season i watch the highlights from Minnesota and see our ex captain burning due to his hotness scoring goal after goal.

Am i bitter that he was traded? No. But i still have some kind of bound with him, like i have withVanek.

  7. So are the Flyers. And the Devils and the Panthers are pretty crappy too.

But none of them are as bad as the Sabres.

I don't know. The Sabres are bad. But Edmonton is a wreck. They're just as poorly assembled as any Regier team.

They won't make it easy to claim the number one ticket in the lottery. What i have seen from them is nearly as bad as the Buffalo perfomances of this year. I think we will overtake one or two of them.

  8. I am sad because i really loved TV. He could have been a legend in 6-8 years with a lot of Sabres related records.

But on the other hand he did not want to stay for a rebuild. So Moulson a first and a second it is then.

Maybe we are lucky and Moulson playing style fits somehow, hopefully he has the right mindset and is a worker kind of player. Many of his goals are dirty goals so this maybe a sign for that.

When he has some chemistry and plays well, i am open to resign him or to trade him elsewhere. If not just trade him away on the deadline.

And in all honesty, I'm shocked there was no retribution. That's pretty much the point...for you to get open to pull that sort of bologna, the other team has called it a day. Next time I bet they don't call it a day.

The Hockey Gods have taken notice. I'm predicting within the next few weeks, Hertl goes down with an injury....not caused by anything nefarious. Just a good ol', hockey gods putting the little DB back in his place injury. 4-6 week minimum.

And how does Pegula not make Darcy draft a guy named Hertl? If there is a player named Joe Cheektowaga, you bet he's Sabres property.

Ahh..now I see why nothing happened. They benched Hertl for the rest of the game!!!

That lil' sh!t will get his......

If this happens this will be sad.

    Hockey needs artists.

Of course we also need hard checks and fights ( I love fights). But to send goons against super stars because the scored an awesome goal is crazy.
