  1. I voted pretty harshly against him but I don't necessarily think he's a bad coach. But he definitely is not the right coach for this team. When I watch this team it looks like a team that is poorly coached. I just think his skill set is not suited for the set of "tools" he has here. I actually do like the aggressive style of play. I think Scott should be suspended however I don't think he's a goon for that hit. It was late and poorly placed but I do not think he attempted to hurt the player. The game surely moves a little too fast for Scott, that's obvious when you watch him skate. I think I could beat him to a puck. I like Scott's presence on the team. Ron needs to go, nothing personal but he's not the right guy for this job.
  2. I've wanted to try that but I haven't found it here in the PacNW. It's what the old man in the blues guitar movie "Crossroads" was drinking. I'll chime in on my latest in whiskey tastes. I definitely go through phases. I had moved from drinking primarily Bushmill's and other Irish malts, Jameson, Tullamore, Michael Collins- to drinking Scotch. I had decided I enjoyed the blendeds more that the single malts and settled on the "affordable" Walker black. I bought a friend a bottle of J Walker green as a gift and he shared it with me. It was very good but I thought it was just a little smoother that the black. Not as far beyond black than the black is beyond red label, if that makes any sense. Well after a night of over indulgence of a bottle of single malt (half a bottle between two of us) I cannot enjoy the smoky flavor of scotch just yet. I am a 1,2 or 3 shot a night guy so a 1/4 bottle wrecked my world the next day. That being said I have started to acquire a taste for bourbon. I like Maker's, and REALLY like Hayden Basil though the $45 tag on that on keeps me from buying it very often. Woodford Reserve I enjoyed though it is not quite as smooth, I do like a good burn as it goes down. My latest bottle is Eagle Rare from the Buffalo Trace distillery. It as well is very good. As always I drink all my whisk(e)y's neat with maybe a glass of Canada Dry ginger ale to sip every so often to clear my pallet. Glad this thread was revived.
  3. Always just called those a Crown & 7 BTW, I love your "Ricky" avatar.
  4. Very good stuff. I got sick on it a few years back and can't even look at the label anymore though. Pendelton is a very nice, smooth whisky. Apparently so smooth, you lose track of how much your drinking after a bit.
  5. Very good thread, I do not really enjoy beer leaving my drink of choice to be whisky. I almost always drink mine neat, I'm kind of in the minority since I have since I started drinking whisky. I do however like a glass of ginger ale or sprite to sip occasionally. I don't know if they sell it back there though it is distilled in eastern Canada, but Wiser's is very good bottle of Canadian whisky for the money. Here in Idaho it runs $17 for a 1/5. I honestly like it better than Crown and it's very affordable. The Irish whiskies are very tasty in my opinion. Bushmills is my preference, to me they have a bit more of a "malty" flavor if that makes sense. Again I drink these neat at room temp, it's just what I like, I would recommend starting though on ice. Now, I also go through my Scotch phases, Johnny Walker Black being my favorite. I tried JW green label last week and it was AMAZING! There is no right answer here but I disagree with the above statement saying to start with single malts, they can be a bit inconsistent and the Islay's have a strong peat smoke flavor. That taste is a bit mellowed in the blendeds I think. There are a lot of good Scotch's out there for around $35. My buddy and I have what we call "Scotch Club" where we buy a different bottle each time and are not allowed to spend over $40. Keep in mind, a good way is to get into it with a buddy so you can share in the cost of trying new things. Bourbons are generally too sweet for me but when I do get a taste for one, I like Maker's Mark. Hope that was at least a little bit helpful, I enjoyed writing it though. If you travel between the US and Canada often, the duty free stores are a great place to get a good price.
  6. The game is on VS I think. In that case, it will be blocked off Center Ice. It's BS I know but it's the way it is. I have the same trouble when a game is on NHL Network because my cable company doesn't offer NHLN.

  8. HAHA So did I! I figured no matter the outcome, I'd be happy. Although the Sabres win is more important to me than my pool.
  9. Except he doesn't use the same move. I've seen the "around the world" a couple times but never a slapper from the high slot. I thought he was going to fake the shot then deke. Maybe Elliott did too!
  10. Its another nhl network tonight and blocked off my center ice package I paid a bunch of money for. atdhe.net is not working. Any suggestions?
  11. No kidding! There was nothing Neuvirth could have done on Roy's goal? How about "catch it"
  12. And just like "that" it's a game again!
  13. Eneroth was HUUUUUGGGGEEEE. I'm happy for him.
  14. EEEEENNNNNNIIIIIISSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. First shootout of the year. Let's go Enroth!
  16. I never would have thought they had it in them. Way to go Jochen!
  17. Roy to the rescue again. Vanek looks like a rookie. Skating around aimlessly.
  18. Thanks for the tip on atdhe.net. It's working well. With DVR though, I'm not used to watching games in real time.
  19. I'm actually the type who tries to stay legal. Buy my music and so forth.... However, seeing as I DID PAY for the Center Ice to watch all Buffalo's games now that I live in Idaho. I am fine with it, I feel I did pay for it.
  20. Okay, even though I pay $170 a year for Center Ice, I won't be able to watch the game since it's on NHLN and my cable provider doesn't carry it. So what are my options online? Why I am a glutton for punishment and want to go out of my way to watch this listless team, I'll never know.
  21. Wow, and I thought I was the eternal Sabre optimist.
  22. Look, I'm not going to start defending this team. I'm sickened. But realistically, Gaustad's role is not a scorer. I think your perception is clouded with frustration as maybe all of ours' is. He wins a lot of key face offs, he has 26 hits which is 4 less than Phaneuf and Byfuglien. And he's a +1 as a 3/4th line center on a horrible team. What I'm saying here is he is not the problem and on a better team, he'd be better. Nobody and I mean nobody looks like they have any passion or heart and that is a deep problem that lies beyond any one player. I have defended Lindy far longer than most but I just don't know anymore. What players I am unimpressed by is T.C. (which could stand for Turnover Constantly), Vanek, Neidermeyer, Morrisonn, and Hecht just to name a sampling.
  23. Holy Cow, pull your panties up. This team is bad but don't start whining about parents and limited budgets. You're not even thinking. Connolly-yes, Rivet-maybe but not Stafford (he said he was going to work harder and elevate his game this year and he has.) And certainly not Gaustad, what do you even base that on? He does what he's supposed to do, play tough and win face offs. Have you even looked at his pct? 65.9%, top in the league. I've followed this team for over 30 years and am thoroughly disappointed but criticisms have to have merit.
