  1. You guys complaining that its late, just think what time it was here! :P
  2. Don't forget their kids in juniors, full of confidence and they feel invulnerable. Plus their around kids their age, that is a big big point. Once they actually get to the big club their a little older, a little wiser and rather than 17 year old timmy you have to hit its a 35 year called Bertuzzi who's already ended someones career. You think that won't change your game?
  3. Shopping list in no order: 1. Veteran RW that can handle 2nd/3rd line duties. (question: Kotalik? If he wants to come back to the USA for cheap). 2. 2nd/3rd line center who's got some size, preferably younger. Not Goose unless he wants to come back for no more than $2mill. 3. Ditch Stafford, we can get a 1st rounder or mid level prospect (RW/C/G). 4. Promote Tropp full time. 5. Let Boyes and Hecht walk away. Unless Boyes is willing to sign for a 1 year $1mill deal to act as 3rd line center. That lessen's our need for another C. 6. Not sure about the prospects, we're deep defensively, who would we keep and who would we move. 7. Depending on how deep this draft is use all 4 1st and 2nd round picks. If its not that deep use one from each and use the others in trades. 8. Trade Leopold, after this season his value isn't bad and it's certainly not going to go up. Maybe resign Sulzer as 6th dman if he is ok and use a Roch player as 7th. Trading Roy in his contract year seems daft and we are still quite weak at center. Stafford is to expensive and expendable. This is a quite list made during lunch at work so alll rough imho.
  4. Has Roy been tried on wing? offensively I'm wondering if it would help his game.
  5. Scott Gomez. Stafford has proven what he can be, and his a solid player (if disappointing for Sabres fans who watched him drafted). Tim Connolly also got a pay rise in Toronto come to think of it.
  6. He probably had facebook open and had to switch when the camera got turned on....
  7. Thanks for that, I still think going for a no.1 pick is a bad idea for the Sabres. I'd play the season normally and see where we land. Maybe try some new styles, focus on having fun rather than desperately winning or losing to plan for the draft. Sounds stupid but it might work for the guys who have struggled this season, especially Leino. Possibly to inform me. :D
  8. Interesting on the breakdown yesterday the guys were saying that this is a dangerous game by the Nucks as going for the 'Boston are successful so we'll be like them' mould doesn't always work. A little bit of concern thats what their trying. As an aside, I hope both players turn out good, but Hodgson fits our needs better.
  9. Yes but rarely in this kind of circumstance does it not go to a team so amazingly pathetic as the Blue Jackets. I believe the lottery works so that the worse team has a higher chance of a higher pick, hence my prediction.
  10. Vanek-Hodgson-Pom Leino-Ennis-Stafford Gerbe-Roy-Kaleta Foligno-Adam-McCormick Myers, Ehrhoff, Regehr, Sekera, Weber, McNabb, Leopold. Stafford still expendable, if so I'd look for a true 3rd/4th line RW and a 3rd/4th line center with a bit of a nasty streak. If we could I would resign Boyes for $1-2mill as a 3rd line center. If we get a good deal for Roy I'd take it but we'd still need a center. Weber as the 7th dman. Leopold expendable so that'd bring Sulzer into 7th/6th. If we get something good for Weber as well great and bring up Brennan or someone or Roch as 6th/7th. EDIT: I'd be happy to chuck Kotalik on RW and see what he can do if we can get him for cheap/afford his dent in the payroll.
  11. 1st Bolded: CLJ have a lock on no.1 overall. We have 4 picks in the 1st two rounds plus centerman in the system to sign. I'm not too worried. Also Hodgson is supposed to be a good top two center. Remember originally neither Drury or Briere were no.1 centers yet they worked well as a tandem. Maybe, just maybe, Roy and Hodgson could work as well. 2nd Bolded: Yer, centers do actually cost a bucket in this day and age. That was Darcys point. Hodgson was perfect for us. Sure someone of Myers size and mobility at center would be amazing but it's not going to happen unless we give up a massive amount. We were weak at center, we're not a little stronger. With Roy, Hodgson, Ennis, Boyes, Hecht and/or one ofthe 4th liners able to play center we should be ok.
  12. You guys realise he was told to be more physical both in Roch AND by the Sabres staff? There were articles devoted to the damn story. He just wasn't that guy, in the same vain Gausted wasn't. Their big guys who can take and dish hits and while their not Pyatt soft their not playing hockey for the physical side. If we want that we need to get someone with a psycho streak.
  13. While I value your comment I'll take the professionals opinion who say this guy has serious center talent. You and GoDD really do revel in turning everything the Sabres do into a negative.
  14. True, his proven a lot less than Hodgson. I think that if this is a major loss for the Nucks it's a good move for us.
  15. MAG trade I'm fine with. I like the look of Hodgson and we desperately needed a center. Best under the circumstances. Kassian will be sorely missed but it should be worth it.
