That could make sense, and would almost also guarantee that NK was right and Miller is on his way out in a seperate deal (or one of bernier or Miller would then be moved, but I doubt they make a deal to get Bernier with no intention of keeping him) -

1st, Yes statistically your best chance to get the best player in the draft that year is by having the first choice. That is true, no one is going to argue that your best chance statistically to get the most talented player in that years draft is to have the 1st overall pick. How that player and their talent level compared to the talent already in the league is going to help you become a winning team is impossible to say. Talent can be found anywhere, not just through the draft, and not just at the top of the draft. The leagues list of top players is filled with players found in places other then early in the draft. Hockey is a team sport that requires a full team to be successful. The current Edmonton Oilers are a great example of this, they made the cup finals the year after the lockout and since then they have picked at the very top of the draft for the last 3 straight years and appear to be no better each year. Are the Islanders a winning team now because of the players they have been obtaining at the top of the Draft? -
For the Sabres? maybe on the radar of players to be traded at the deadline to other teams............ Who would Buffalo give up for those guys, and if your going to say Miller/Vanek/Pominville, aren't those basically lateral type moves if your not keeping them? I thought those guys had to be moved to continue the youth movement rebuild! As for Vinny being on IR, can the Sabres trade Leino on IR for Vinny on IR? (NOTE - Thats a joke for those who may not have a sense of humor)
-
Thats the only way it would happen, there would have to be other teams involved where Miller would go to the 3rd team, with that third team sending something to LA, OR it would be done in 2 seperate trades where the Sabres could trade Miller somewhere for someone, then make a move with LA to acquire Bernier It just keeps popping up where people keep saying "Miller to LA for Quick/Bernier", that will never happen, and no one has been able to give any reason why the Kings would even take a second to consider that deal

There it is, thats my post I was refering to earlierThe response your going to get "I never said picking 1st overall leads to winning or being good" I'm sure that if you expanded what I did to include the top 5 picks over those 12 years, your going to find alot of those #1 overall teams picking in those spots too............. -
AGAIN, WHY WOULD THE KINGS WANT TO TAKE ON MILLER??????????They don't need a starting goalie, they potentially have 2 already who are both younger and cheaper and could both be starters. If they were going to use Bernier to try and get something from the Sabres, its going to be for someone not named Miller and is more likely to include Enroth then Miller so they have a cheap body to fill in as a backup (if they don't already have someone in their system to come in and be a backup) Miller going to LA is even less likely then the Sabres being able to get Crosby AND Malkin from the Pens for Scott and McCormick straight up
-
Your not getting Bernier from LA unless your going to give up something Big, and it won't include Miller because THE LA KINGS HAVE NO USE FOR MILLER SINCE THEY ALREADY HAVE QUICK
-
Why would the Kings even consider something like that? What would be their reasoning for trading Quick (a younger goalie who is viewed as one of the better ones in the league) for Miller?Maybe if the Deal was Vanek/Pominville and Miller for Quick it might be something they think about (not saying vanek and Pominville, i'm saying either/or). At the very best, its a lateral move for the Kings who IIRC, would be taking on a larger, soon to be expiring contract of an older goaltender

I think the exception is that bottoming out to get the #1 overall pick makes you a winnerI had psoted before, the last 12 years of #1 overall picks and their teams success, I just can't remember where I posted it. Only Chicago and Pittsburgh have gone on to win cups after drafting at the top. The teams drafting at the top of the draft in the last 12 years Islanders - 2 #1's Thrashers (Jets) Blue Jackets Capitals Blues Lightning Oilers - 3 #1's in a row Out of those teams, the Blues are getting good, the jets appear to be middle of the pact and slowly improving, and the Capitals and Lighting are a roller coaster of up and down seasons. The Blue jackets, Oilers and Islanders continue to be bad teams. -

Its called a joke.............People with something called a sense of humor would understand.................... -
Definitly possibe, but I can almost guarantee that the trade will not involve Miller going to the Kings (I wouldn't rule out the Sabres trying to get Bernier though if they are actively looking to dump Miller though)
-
I don't think that the list is submitted at any point during the season, only when the team asks him for one. So if he asks for a trade, or the team is interested in moving him they would ask him for the list that he would then provide.

Actually no, N missed the point, he still thought Enroth was at .910%, not .911% -

But TPs filthy rich and lves to throw money around like its candy so he can just buy out Bryz at the end of the season and do the Flyers a favour by making them better...... -

LA has no need to trade for goaltending right now unless they deal Bernier away. Quick is going no where, and with the year he had last year, LA is not looking at getting a replacement #1. Miller isn't going anywhere to be someones backup, maybe in an uncapped NHL where teams could spend til their owners wallets were empty a team might try and stockpile as much of the best talent as possible and could decide to make a move to get him, but thats not reality. LA would be more likely to have an interest in Vanek or Pominville before Miller. Heck, They would probably have more interest in Stafford then a #1 goalie.......... Didn't you here the update, he is now better then Roy, he is now at .911%!Wow, one win in over a year and its back to deal Miller, Enroths ready to take over the #1 spot around here from some (not refering to you n).............. -
I think you mean Darcy and Lindys guys, or do we only say that Ruff had control over the roster for things that are bad? ;)
-
Depends on the player and franchise he plays for......

For those thinking the Sabres would get a nice return for Miller, When was the last time a good starting goaltender was traded, and what kind of return did it bring the other team trading him? Recently it looks like backups that have shown potential and look like they could become starters have been moved but can't think of any that got a good return for them. Halak from Montreal to St. Louis? Hasek from Buffalo to Detroit? They say his best value is at the deadline cause next year he will be in his final year of his deal. So at the deadline, what team will be looking for a Goalie and what would a team in playoff contention be willing to give up for a goalie? The team would have to be someone looking for a starter and not a backup. Regier said last night that teams who are Buyers at the deadline aren't looking to deal away good roster players for guys, they will give up picks and prospects. If your going to move Miller then, your gonna need someone else here to take his spot for the rest of the season so your gonna have to get back a goalie or make a seperate move to get one (limiting your return cause your either taking away some value of your return by taking another goalie back, or giving up something to get someone else here. Looking at the Standings, I would say the top spot could be Detroit (would Darcy go back and deal another great Buffalo goalie to Detroit to help them win again?) Detroit could use an upgrade with their weaker defence. In return I would expect Buffalo would get back either Howard (if they don't wan to keep him as a backup til Millers deal is up and they don't want to re-sign him) or Gustavson. Either have potential to be decent starters (good but no where near great) until they can farm another great goalie for Detroit Other possibilities include Toronto - Looking for an upgrade, could get back Scrivens or Reimer (both have decent starter potential, good but not great) but would you want to help out a rival? Philly - Can't see it happening without the Sabres having to take Bryz off their hands (TP could do this as a favour and use one of their buyouts on him this year, which could maybe get teh Sabres a little extra in teh deal for doing them another favour) Tampa - Move would be a good fill in til the goalie they drafted is ready to come up, could send their starter they picked up from Nashville in return Winnipeg - Possible if they feel they are good enough for the playoffs and have lost faith in Pavelac, but from what tehir owner said when he purchased them, they weren't going to be big spenders and would build the team through the draft Dallas - Doubtful, but they could surprise everyone and look to bring in a former friend for Roy Teams that Miller would probably be an upgrade but are doubtful that they would want to make a move to get him might be Phoenix - No big contracts are going to be brought in to Phoenix until a permanent owner is in place Washington - Could use an upgrade but don't see them as a buyer at the deadline San Jose - Only likely California team that would want him (LA has 2 very good goalies, Anaheim already had to move Hiller to backup) but I don't think their issues are goaltending enough to want to make a deal for Miller Edmonton - Millers an upgrade, but they aren't close to being a contender yet, even though they have been doing what everyone here wants Buffalo to do for many years, "Suck for (insert this years #1 pick)!" They won't be buyers Columbus - Same situation as Edmonton and Washington, he's an upgrade over what they have, but they won't be Buyers Throw in other potential #1 guys that are also on the market right now like Luongo and that can also limit the kind of return Buffalo can get for Miller.

So you would be fine sending Vanek to the Press Box so that Grigo can get his minutes? We already know what we have in him and just have to explain we don't want him hurt, gotta see what we have in Grigo Seriously, the only ones that don't know what the team has in a player are the fans. Evaluating players is what the preseason is for, the coaches and Organisation know what they have in Enroth, they know he is a backup at best. If they were uncertain of his ability to even be a backup, giving him a few more starts isn't going to change their mind, just create more of a divide between the fanbase who will start up the "We should trade Miller cause Enroths shown he is capable to win some games now" They know what they have in Miller, a goaltender capable of playing at a high level in the league alot of games. -
You can get something decent for Pominville too, ship him off as well, you can replace him in the new core with Stafford who can take the 'C' from him..............
