bio and chz, leave the room. We're getting our rulers out!
They need to stay. We need judges. Otherwise someone might stretch the truth.

Miller can only dream of that kind of goal support in Buff. Should be a great game against mother Russia.
-
My sibs are saying it's just a hockey publicity photo pose, not just Finnish.
I remember hockey cards as a kid where this pose was used. I'm not 100% confident but I'd bet Bobby Clark used it at one time.

Actually, I almost think the opposite. And it's EXACTLY why his firing was exactly what he deserved. I think Darcy KNEW that you need good centers. He just had no idea how to get them.
That could be true also. He let it go soooo long it appeared he thought you didn't need any.
-
I want the Sabres to continue to draft, sign, and trade for centers until the NHL roster has a set of three that can be good enough to contend for a Cup. Then, and only then, will I begin to care about wingers.
That's a bit of an exaggeration, but I think you get the idea :)
I tend to agree with you on this. Everyone is looking for a center. And despite what Darcy believed you can never have enough good ones. Load up baby and either switch some to wing or trade for what you need from a position of strength.

No, but I've sharted....
I almost sharted when I read that.

I have to agree that goal by the Canadian woman shouldn't have counted. The whistle had clearly bean blown and was still shrill as the puck crossed the line. A blown call which makes the fact that the goal stood after the review all the more confusing. Should have been called back. I'm not sure how the officials explained this one or if they even tried. Too bad for the American women in this case but based on officiating in general chances are it'll also go their way at some point as it will go against the Canadians no doubt. Its just too bad the officiating couldn't be flawless. It never is.

Those damn Finns are dirty.

What are these certain strenghts that his has?
lol.

in Canadian radio discussion hosts saying Canadians generally would be more enthused it Canada won Gold medal. Personally I would not trade a Leaf Stanley cup or a Sabre one for that matter. No doubt these Olympics will shape upcoming NHL playoffs, for some to the negative, that sucks in my opinion.
I agree. I'd rather see the Sabres win the cup than see Canada win the gold medal. Gods honest truth. I consider myself patriotic and a proud Canuck but truthfully I'd get a bigger boost out of seeing my team finally lift the Stanley cup. I've waited most of my life. When Canada won the gold in Vancouver I remember feeling torn because as a fan of the Sabres and Miller I was upset that he let that goal in yet I was happy we had won.

Tim Murray is my breath of fresh air. In 4 or 5 years if things are still in the crapper and showing no signs of improvement I'll call for his head. Just like I did for Darcys pretty well since I joined this forum. Back then there were many more voices that felt he should be given another chance to prove what he could do. He had already proven what he couldn't do at that point. The best thing TP has done since he bought this team was the hiring of PLT to oversee the hockey department. All I want is for TP to stay out of the wheelhouse and let the hockey guys do their jobs. We don't need a Charles Wang/Garth Snow combo for the Sabres. Its terrys team. He can do what he wants obviously. Talk to the guys. Stay involved. Feel relevant/ in charge. But for God sake let the hockey guys make the moves.

Taking two years to can Lindy and almost three to dump Darcy brings up the issue of the quality of Terry's advisors. I said it at the time ad nauseam, but Ken Sawyer, Ted Black and Cliff Benson were money, not hockey, men. The robust fan support at the time had to play a role in those guys saying, hey, Darcy's done a heckuva job. I feel a lot better now that a guy with real hockey chops in Craig Patrick is in the mix. But, man, there are a lot of guys in Terry's flat management structure. The aforementioned advisors; Pat, Craig and Tim; Battista; the HarborCenter staff; even the wifey. I'll be happy if the original advisors (and wifey) never have a hand in hockey decisions again.
I agree. This as you've pointed out was the problem. Hopefully Terry as the fanboy has taken a step back and put his trust in the new guys to bring him through the wilderness.

I thought it was great. We're watching the characters become who they will be in the new order. Rick and his son are almost switching places as the boy becomes a man. Michone has reverted back to the bad bitch. Its a new adventure now. The prison scenes had become predictable and stale. I can't wait till next sunday.
On a side note I watched talking dead and the actress that plays Michone is HOT !

I
I hate to judge before all he facts are in, but it beginning to look like this is a very bad team.
I'll be the judge.
Burn this witch down !

Moulson is out. Hodgson needs a winger to pass to and he doesn't have one. This is one of the reasons Hodgson is actually a #2 center and not a #1. A #1 could use a traffic cone to pass with but a #2 needs a decent linemate. Cody may over come some of this but for now I think his production will drop off a little.
Yeah I see what you're saying. True dat. Traffic cones is an apt description for most of our guys.

You are absolutely right about change for the sake of change, except in this instance. Regier was going no place and had no chance of going any place. Making a change was the only way out of that mess. It might turn out worse, it might turn out better but a change had to be made. I find Murray as GM interesting and with Patrick and Lafontaine along with him, I think the Sabres have a good chance to be on the right track.
I like the tact Murray has taken up to this point. He came in took his time and looked around, hopefully has created a plan and will begin executing the plan leading up to the deadline. I would be far more worried if he had come in and made significant moves immediately. He would then be in a ready, fire, aim mode and that almost never ends well. The key evaluation will be in 3-4 years after two drafts and two free agency periods and some of the current crop of youngsters have possibly moved up to the NHL. Then we will know if Murray was the right guy or not. Even if Murray is in over his head the Sabres have Patrick and Lafontaine to whisper advice in his ear.
Given the triumvirate of Murray, Patrick and Lafontaine I can't think of too many, if any, scenarios where the Sabres would be better off.
I agree. Good post.

Yulia nailed it.

Yep, having watched Highlander countless times is the reason I caught that! Great movie. Hope a remake is never made. I do think it's cool when a figure skater chooses music that is not the norm.
I'm surprised we haven't heard Bronski beat from one of the skaters.

Kris Baker @SabresProspects 22m
Nick Baptiste gets a goal and two helpers as Sudbury rolls past Niagara 7-1. Baptiste: 50gp 32 goals (t-10th in OHL), 66 pts (t-15th).
Mike Harrington @BNHarrington 3m
Connor McDavid had FIVE assists tonight at Erie beat London, 7-2, in the OHL. Nikita Zadorov had was minus-1 for London. #Sabres #tanking
Convid and BigZ future team mates. :w00t:

Miller is not going to the Islanders end of story!
True. If he wanted any part of that type of disfunction he'd simply sign in Buffalo.

I posted this in the Things That Are Awesome thread, but maybe it belongs here:
Canada Fires Back At Russia’s Ban On Gay Propaganda With Hilarious Homoerotic Commercial
Its odd that in the opening ceremonies the speeches talked an awful lot about tolerance and acceptance of diversity etc. I don't recall the exact wording but tolerance was mentioned numerous times. Lip service I'm afraid. Then the athlete that lit the torch just happens to be the same chick that tweeted the picture a few years ago of President Obama and his wife while she held the banana in the frame.

It wasn't for a lack of effort, trust me. I just don't get blackout drunk that often. I have a graduate degree from Playboy's #1 party school, which has bestowed upon me a super-human tolerance. Especially for beer. So I really can't drink enough beer by 2AM to cause memory loss. It's a blessing and a curse.
Sometimes, if I don't eat dinner and I start drinking at like 4pm, I'll be shitfaced by bar time. We used to do that in Madison. Pound beers from about 4 until 7pm at happy hour, then go to the Badger hockey game until 9:30, then pub crawl down State St, ending up at the Essen Haus around 11pm, then pound 2 liter glass boots of Spaten Optimator and dance to live polka music for three hours. That would usually do it, but I'd still remember where I was.
I remember drinking myself sober quite a few times on beer which would never happen on spirits. On spirits its drink yourself stupor. Or stupider.

Players that need to be traded to keep the tank going:
Tyler Ennis, 14 points in the last 16 games.
Drew Stafford, 9 points in the last 7 games. HOWEVER, of those last seven games, we've lost each one where he records a point. If intentional, that's some high-level ninja tanking.
Christian Ehrhoff, 20 points in last 30 games. He had only scored 5 points before Thanksgiving. He was also -9 before Thanksgiving. He's been -1 since.
Cody Hodgson, on the other hand, doesn't want to be traded. After going 12 points in 13 games, he's only recorded 1 point in his last 5.
TANKADILLO
Hodgson has been invisible. I asked during the Ottawa game if he was playing injured. I haven't heard so I'll suppose its just the usual inconsistency of a young player on a dreadful team.

Alright, my two cents. Watched the Opening Ceremony as it happened. Don't read if you want it all to be a surprise this evening, but the beer is flowing and I am babbling.
The music. I'm a classical nerd, so perhaps I'm biased, but I really loved the sequences using Tchaikovsky and Sviridov.. I read where a Russian official said basically, well, we don't have pop stars, so instead of One Direction or the Spice Girls, we have Tchaikovsky. It worked. Only thing that could've made it better for me was some Rachmaninov.
I loved the Tolstoy ballet. I thought the use of the projections and rafters was very ingenious. Then there's some odd bits that are uber colorful and artsy, and there's giant animatronic mascots that I honestly thought were well done, but could be rather creepy to some.
I was so happy to see Tretiak. Putin's mistress/lady/thing is one of the final torchbearers as well, as is Sharapova. Lots of pretty Russian ladies.
I was impressed. I honestly hadn't given much thought to the fact that many of the literature/arts that I love are actually Russian, so that made it better for me. (except Dostoevsky, my god, i could never get through his work) Admittedly, the BBC feed had the announcers breaking in with updates on the hijacking issue out of Istanbul, which made it a bit darker, but overall, very beautifully done, with a classic Russian failure in the rings not fully opening and looking like Putin's puckered ######. I look forward to seeing it on a full TV without graininess and lags. The ceremony, not Putin's winking eye.
I'm reading the Brothers karamazov. Its really good but my fave is Gogol mostly for his humour. Dead souls was great.
