  1. Hopefully Ott comes back.

Having an entire team of picks and prospects isn't necessarily good, just ask Edmonton.

But Edmonton has no clue until this last year on how to rebuild that team. I just don't want to here about Sam Gagner to Buffalo any more. I don't want him.

After relaxing a bit, I love this trade. They'll get even more for at least one of Halak/Stewart.

I was getting nervous that Miller was going to end up going out for just a pick and decent prospect. In the end they get very good value.

I see him flipping either one or both of those players.

  2. I really don't like this trade, at all. In any trade with Saint Louis, I wanted Rattie back. This is now a five-year, not three-year rebuild, and I didn't even like three.

This is what I've been saying for awhile now a 3-5 years before we see the playoffs leaning more towards 5. This organization is going to develop these kids and no one is going to be rushed even if we get the 1st overall pick this year.

  3.

Is this team planning on holding on to any of their good players? Is Girgenson going to be on the next link I click on? This is starting to look like a 5 year rebuild. All of this trade talk is fun and exciting but when it's all over, and we look at the roster, reality is going to kick in BIG time. The hardest one to part with for me is going to be Miller. He has always been the one player to bring a ton of respect to this team and when he is gone, not only will Buffalo need a #1 Center, they will also need a #1 goalie. Not having a super star in this year's draft may be the most damaging part to this whole process.

I said this awhile ago that we don't see the playoffs for at least 3-5 years and I'm leaning more closer to 5. Unfortunately for Buffalo they will land a top 5 pick in a poor draft year this season. That's why I hate to say it but we need to be just as bad next year just to have a shot at McDavid. It will be interesting to see what Murray has in store this next week. It will really tell which way this team heads. I still think you need to have a couple of vets around to help the kids that is why I would like to keep Ott and Moulson unless some team offers up something that you can't pass up.

  4.

I don't think if I'm Murray if I trade Ott unless it such a great trade for Buffalo. I'm good with trading Miller, Tallinder and possibly Moulson(if it's a good deal). I still think you need a veteran or two around for this rebuild.

Ott's contract expires in 90 days

Unless the return is mind blowing why would u unload him. He said he wants to stay and I think they can get a deal done. The guy just works hard and what a better guy to help the kids!

  5. If am were St Louis or Minn. I would be selling assets for Miller. It gives either team a legitimate shot at a cup. Halak and aging Backstrom not so much.

I'm not sold on Minny at all. I think Miller makes them better but not better than Chicago, San Jose, Anaheim or Los Angeles.

  6. I totally get it a lot of teams don't want to overpay for a ufa. If I'm a GM the only way I give up a first and a solid prospect if I'm already have people good enough to fill spots and if I feel that player we are trading for will put us over the top. I feel St. Louis should pull off a trade with Buffalo. I'm not sold on Halak or Elliot and I think Miller gives them a solid shot at going far.

  7.

Seriously. We've been dealing with the "might be his last game" stuff since last trade deadline. I'm just happy that we now (appear to) have a competent hockey department who might actually get a solid return for him.

I also agree we have a solid hockey department but as much as I hated Regier he hasn't done bad with the last two major trades of Pom's and Vanek. We could potentially see two top ten picks this year or next depending on what the Islanders do. He fleeced Snow big time in that Vanek deal.

  8. Based on all the variables at hand , what is realistic to expect to get in return for Ryan Miller. Increasing chatter St. Louis interested, Jonas Hiller a free agent at seasons. end Ducks said to have three young goalies to step in next season. Is it possible Ducks would want to keep Miller from St. Louis thus making a credible offer for Miller thus two teams competing for Miller , Sabres getting better value. ?

I wouldn't even mind signing Hiller to be starter next year until whatever goalies we have are ready for nhl duty.

  9. Make it stop. I can't take any more swan songs for Miller. How many times has exited stage right?

It's wierd but I would like to keep Ott and Moulson and trade Miller. I just think a lot of teams don't want to give up a first and a top prospect for a guy that could be a possible rental player. This should be an interesting trade deadline to see which way Murray wants to rebuild this team. I for one at least want one more year of the tank job to at least have a shot at McDavid .

  10. I could see if they peppered Rask and couldn't score but they didn't even show up today. Very disappointing.

American team didn't even act interested. I think all they cared about was the gold. I couldn't watch it straight thru, but the bits and pieces I did see were awful. I recorded the game but doubt I will even bother watching. That was a fugly outing.

At least only 3 more days until the NHL season starts again.

I'm more interested in the trade deadline. Draft lottery and the draft now. Plus now with Tavares out the Islanders will probably keep their 2014 1st rounder since they will finish in the bottom 5. Which is okay with me because who knows how long Tavares will be out for and if he misses any of next season so I think they won't be much better. It's not like free agents are lining up to go to the island.

  11.

Screw that. Leave Miller on the bench thank you. I'd rather not see him play and get injured going for a Bronze medal and killing any trade.

I agree leave Miller on the bench. I'm sure he's pissed he's not playing but quick is a better goalie. He just didn't get any support. Kane created some chances as did Kessel but not much from anyone else. If I'm St. Louis I trade for Miller I think he would be a big upgrade in net.

  12. I would laugh if teams lowball snow for Vanek. I wouldn't overpay for a rental. I'm sure he has certain teams on his mind that he wants to play for at the end of season.

I also agree now with Tavares done I highly doubt we get there 2014 1st rounder. I just don't see the Islanders being any better in 2015 which gives us a great shot at McDavid with their pick. I hate to really say this but Regier looks like a genius in this trade . Snow should have never put Moulson in that package. But lucky us!

  13.

One big reason to support wanting them to give us the 1st rounder in 2014 is that if they know their 2015 1st rounder isn't theirs, they're going to go all-out doing everything they can this summer not to hit rock bottom. They're not going to let themselves be in the bottom 5 again in 2015. They'll overspend on free agents or make crazy trades to help them immediately, but that management team does NOT want to give us the first round pick that ends up being McDavid or Eichel.

All they have to do is keep their 2014 1st rounder, then overpay Ryan Miller as a free agent, and what we'll end up with is a 1st rounder in the 10-20 range for 2015.

Miller is not going to the Islanders end of story!

  14.

Even if it's top 5 I'd prefer the isles defer, with them losing vanek and having a tough time attracting free agents I doubt they will be much better next year. If they end up in the bottom five this year it's a win win in my eyes.

I agree I don't think many players are wanting to go to the Islanders. Now if they can keep Vanek and maybe trade for another decent player and goalie I think they would be a playoff team. Maybe not this year because they are far back but in years to come. If snow is smart if they lose Vanek and get nothing back I would almost certainly keep the 2015 1st rounder and give my team a good chance to land McDavid. I just don't see the Islanders being that much better next year losing Vanek and it's not a place where free agents want to go.
