I agree. This is why I mentioned that the Jets effectively became a win now team with those deals. They are all fine and dandy, but if they don't win a cup in the next 2-3 years, it's not going to get any easier.

    ---

Speaking of Myers, that "best trade ever!" chant Jets fans levied on the Sabres and Kane for a few years after that trade isn't looking too smart, now. What do they have to show for it? Armia gone for nothing. Lemieux an afterthought. Stafford a distant memory. Looking to unload Myers. So they got a 1st, who turned into Roslovic, who's plateaued this season so far with 9 points in 40 games (14 in 31 last season).

We got a first for Kane. And Bogosian.

"Best trade ever!" it was not.

Had Kane not had his few off the ice incidents, and had Bogo been healthy, the trade would have been a huge win for us.

Really? Little's contract is already basically there.

He's making 5.3 million, and has 6 more points (and one less goal) on a vastly deeper offensively Jets team. 5 years left after this one, Okposo's has 4. Little is 31, KO 30.

I’ll give you the contracts are comparable, the difference is the Jets are competing now for a cup and he’s an important piece whereas we’re nowhere near ready to compete (2-3 years away) and Okposos contract is just an albatross preventing us from acquiring talent to compete.

As a fan, I don't have to give him ***** first of all. It's on him to entertain me, not the other way around. I'm the paying customer, not him.

Second of all, he is 18 yrs old, I expect the mistakes, but not so often for where he was touted.

Are you familiar with Phil Housley early years?  He was so poor defensively that he was moved to forward. He’s in the HOF. Rasmus will be amazing. Do you know who was the last 18 year old defenseman to be great in his rookie year? Bobby Orr.  That was 50 years ago.

Why is Nylander a bust but Mittelstadt isn't? Nylander is only 8 months older, lost some development time due to injury, but is now performing very well in Rochester. Mitts has 5 goals, 6 assists, and probably 0 pull-ups in 42 NHL games. Are people even watching these games? Mitts looks terrible. Nylander deserves a call-up, and Mitts needs to do some remedial AHL work.

Mittelstadt belongs in Rochester. I think he’s only here because we traded ROR. He clearly isn’t ready. We are very weak down the middle. I’m not sure how we are going to improve the center position in the near future. Asplund isn’t ready either.  Samson can’t play center. Maybe Girgensons is the best answer for now.

I'd love to see the PP improve.....but I have no confidence HCPH can get them there.  Disco Dan's 2016-2017 team had a 24.5% PP success rate, which was #1 in the league.  HCPH's team only hit 19.1% last year....ranked around 20th or so.  This year, the percentage is even worse with arguably more talent (18.8%).  It's actually getting worse, not better.  Just part of my skepticism that he is the right man for the job.

Yikes those stats are an indictment of HCPH.

I agree. And they don’t even need to capitalize on it. They just need to look not completely inept.

it was a weird game. Pretty scrambly and lots of home run passes from both sides.

Bout what I expected with a Jackless squad.

Still can’t figure out why Elie getting hit at center ice before the puck got there wasn’t interference,... oh, yeah, Boston.

I can’t figure out why Elie is on the team.  He showed me nothing. I’d rather see Nylander or Olofson.

Did Housley spend some of that time at center?  I know at some point he was moved off the blue line, I’m just not sure when.

FWIW, I've been a frequent critic of Reino's over the years and I think he's playing the best hockey of his career.

I still think he has limitations, he's not as good as Draisaitl, he's not as good as what most would probably want from a #2 overall pick and he hasn't shown yet that he can be a consistent 5-on-5 player -- but IMHO he's still a good player on a good contract who has played very well on a high-end #1 line this season.

I agree that on his current contract he's fine.  However he is useless at even strength without Jack.  I'm concerned that with his inflated numbers from being with Jack and on the power play will result in an Okposo type deal which would be terrible.  Pommers numbers get similarly inflated and you see what happens when he gets moved off of Jacks line.
