For those who are going
It is now customary to yell "Go Bills" a split second after a player hits a crucial shot and there is enough silence left in the crowd to make it to the microphones
It has been written so it must be done-

I'll see those crappy Vegas #s and raise you these:
Vegas -- 29 games with Eichel -- 13-14-2
Vegas -- 29 games immediately before Eichel joined the lineup: 17-9-3
I'll say it: it seems quite possible that there is something about Eichel's game, or something about his personality, or both, that brings his teammates down.
Small sample size but I tend to agree. Something about Eichel just did not gel with whatever we tried with him. Skinners 1st year appears to be an outlier.

The best decision this organization made this year was the hiring of Don Granato. The two players who would second that opinion are Skinner and Dahlin. He unchained them and set them free to exploit their natural talents.
I've got to throw in Tage Thompson at least as a honorary mention. Completely bypassed all my expectations for his career this season.

Ok... but if next year we are left with grab bag of half ass goalies, and another non playoff season, with not much G depth in the physical pipeline, I don't want to hear no complaining, no trashing KA, because we can't worry about things we can't control. So why complain right ?
I know there is nothing I can do about it, but that doesn't change the fact that it sucks-

The only reason he would walk away from the Sabres is if his play tails off and/or we have someone better that he would not start in front of, in which case, who cares.
I guess were gonna find out, but now we have 0 development goalies in our system worth getting excited for. We have drafted/traded for G's that we may get into our system but until they actually are we have very little... I really don't get a warm fuzzy feeling regarding Portillo actually signing with Buffalo. If he goes public saying he intends to sign with Buffalo I'll feel better... But if I'm Portillo at this point I would become a FA and see what appeals to me before I just sign with Buffalo

Drama queens are in abundance around here. What's the big deal with these guys staying in school?
There is a damn good chance he just walks away from the Sabres all together next year. He doesn't have to sign with the Sabres after August 2023 I beleive, he becomes a UFA and he basically can just pick his team.
I understand getting an education, what I don't understand is why the drafting team takes all the risks, and receives no compensation. -

I’m sorry but if the plan for next year is to bring back Anderson for an Anderson/UPL pair then that is a joke.
Anderson is a great guy but is in his forties and is clocking in at around a .903 sv% the last 3-4 years. That isn’t good enough.
UPL has proven nothing and is not dominating in the AHL.
Go get a legit starter. They have no idea where UPL, Levi or Portillo are going to end up. Get a proven guy.
They have to spend money to get to the cap floor.
Maybe, just maybe we should stop letting our goalies face 40 shots in a night
I agree we could use an upgrade @ G, but wining face offs and out shooting our opponents every night with O controlled play will also make our goaltending look a lot better.
Anderson and UPL is not end of the world combination... but we could do worse. Not sure how many top G would sign here. But like you said we have money to spend on a 2-3 year stop gap-

Consistent goaltending gets us 5 to 10 more wins.... A few offseason acquisition's, a few players making the jump from Rochester and of course Power and some health luck next year and we could be in the conversation for playoffs.

let him ride out his contract, then decide if he wants/deserves one more... I don't see a scenario where we would sign him to another multi-year deal

What is up with the maple leafs douche standing next to Levi. I don't trust this person -

My problem isn’t that Levi is returning for one more year of college.
My problem is we won’t be able to talk about anything he does next season because it will be sabotaged by the “None of it matters, he is not signing here, it is Cal Peterson 2.0” crowd.
Unfortunately until him and Portillo are signed and playing in Rochester, my paranoia exists.
Although I won't be posting my paranoia here accept for this 1 rant... I do fear until I do not -

Fairy tales , can come true, it could happen to you!

I believed the going back to college title, that was believable. Then I read the OP post and realized its April Fools when he mentioned does not want to play for the Sabres

What's our record since the All Star break?
10-8-2
I had to count that up myself so I may be off but this is my quick count

I'll be satisfied with a .500 run since the Allstar break. That's a team trending in the right direction
I don't think they can pull off .500 for the season, but if they did that would be incredible and very exciting.

Because it's a draft, not slavery.
The player can force a trade. But the drafting team should be able to receive compensation.
If you feel that way then get rid of the draft all together and have them all be UDFA. I don't think that will work well for the league in the long run -

Why ? If a player knows its the wrong team why stop them ?
You will have to explain to me how a team has the right to make a draft pick but then that player can decide well its not the right team ?
Why even have a draft ?

If we get burned again by any of our college draftees.....Levi, Johnson, even Portillo or heaven forbid Power....we should never draft a college bound player again....unless the NHL changes the rules so that teams can retain rights indefinitely.
that rule should be changed

I'm fine with this. Making a deal for the sake of making a deal is really no deal at all. Sabres are showing some gel so that eases any pain from the no deal at the deadline reality.
Lots of teams will still need to get their houses in order this offseason so all those Salary Cap dump deals are still there for the taking.

COVID and bridge closures to Canada had much to do with it as well.
But mostly ***** play for a decade from bad GM and coaching hires.
