There are two lottery slots. What do the Sabres do if they win the No 1 slot? What if they win the No 2 slot? How does it change KA’s off-season game plan? Are any of the prospects NHL ready? Is Wright the dynamic center the forward group needs? Would KA consider trading down a slot or two to add more draft capital or a player?
IMO it changes nothing short term outside of having another top prospect re-tooling the pool. You grab the highest ranking prospect on your board
I don't think Trading down is wise as the top picks in any NHL draft are almost always a solid step above the rest. If anything you eventually move another lesser piece from your organization when needed to make room for the new prospect. The lesser piece being moved can still net a player / draft pick/ or both -
the Sabres do not have a 10% chance of winning the lottery. You cannot add the odds of draw 1 and draw 2 together. That's not how it works. It wil depend on whom wins the 1st draw and has their chances removed, but the 2nd draw odds will not vary much from the 5.4% posted above.
This is not rocket science

Barry and Winning Time on HBO have both been very good shows
I still have to finish Ozark... -
Betting on Sports will eventually lead to us to more Pete Rose situations. Some may never get caught and we might never ever know. Conspiracy theories will fly.
Adding betting parlors inside Stadiums and Arenas will create more gambling addicts.
I have friends that gamble, or gambled at one time.
1 of them had to go to Gambling anonymous.
The other friend, after a night of playing cards and watching the pot build to a few grand, he sat there with a potential winning hand. When the cards were shown another player had a better hand. My friend cursed a little but calmly got up from the table grabbed a beer went outside leaned on his car took a sip then proceeded to grab a baseball bat and literally destroyed his own car in a rage. All the windows the head and taillights major dents everywhere.
He didn't have much money and the loss was unbearable... Now he needed a new car with no money. This was 25+ years ago but he was a 25 year old man living with mom. Drinking and Gambling.- 1

Let's see how draft and free agency goes (particularly college signings).
How many College players do you foresee making the jump to the Amerks ?
The draft maybe gets us 1 or 2 AHL ready players IMO. -
We are seeing some real progression with our pipeline to the point that we need to fill it up again
We more than likely will see a few more Rochester players make the jump next year which means Rochester needs to be restocked- 1

has anyone ever suggested we sign a player to a non team friendly deal?
I suggest we sign a top G to an unfriendly team deal for a couple of years

Two GMs didn't know what to do with him, how to build a proper team around him. That tainted him. The third didn't either but made the decision to ship him out which now that the bandaid has been ripped off was clearly the correct move.
Personally I think the organization tried to hard to appease Eichel. Game plans, personnel/players, acquisitions/trades were mostly made with the thought process of how it affects Jack. I think that is a big part of what doomed the Sabres tank... They weren't rebuilding a franchise, they were building a Jack Eichel support cast.
Now we see we may actually be much better off without him. Sad part is it cost us Reinhart to.

The guy blossomed overnight. Never in a million years would I have predicted such a breakout season this far into his career. I was pretty much giving up...
He is a big piece to the puzzle we didn't know we had- 2

He followed the instruction perfectly...
On a side note. Youth hockey from ages 9-10 are considered Squirts.
SO.... are Youth Hockey players from Hershey PA known as Hershey Squirts? -
Boy has the narrative done a 180 degree flip... Sabres look to have gotten this one right and its becoming noticeable to the media and Joe and Jane Fan
Sabres have definitely shown to me that they are a better team minus Jack, and its not lost on me that many of the players who have been around Jack are actually doing better away from him

COVID and bridge closures to Canada had much to do with it as well.
But mostly ***** play for a decade from bad GM and coaching hires.

For those who are going
It is now customary to yell "Go Bills" a split second after a player hits a crucial shot and there is enough silence left in the crowd to make it to the microphones
It has been written so it must be done- 1

I'll see those crappy Vegas #s and raise you these:
Vegas -- 29 games with Eichel -- 13-14-2
Vegas -- 29 games immediately before Eichel joined the lineup: 17-9-3
I'll say it: it seems quite possible that there is something about Eichel's game, or something about his personality, or both, that brings his teammates down.
Small sample size but I tend to agree. Something about Eichel just did not gel with whatever we tried with him. Skinners 1st year appears to be an outlier.

The best decision this organization made this year was the hiring of Don Granato. The two players who would second that opinion are Skinner and Dahlin. He unchained them and set them free to exploit their natural talents.
I've got to throw in Tage Thompson at least as a honorary mention. Completely bypassed all my expectations for his career this season.

Ok... but if next year we are left with grab bag of half ass goalies, and another non playoff season, with not much G depth in the physical pipeline, I don't want to hear no complaining, no trashing KA, because we can't worry about things we can't control. So why complain right ?
I know there is nothing I can do about it, but that doesn't change the fact that it sucks- 1
