  1. I think Tage and Mitts both bring up an interesting part of being a NHL player that seems to get lost in the discussion of the physical game and stats and such. I think both of these guys need cognitive development - both need to "process the game" better. How do they develop these guys cognitively other than by making them play in games? Are there specialists in this area? I'm not talking about sports-psychologists, but rather people who specialize in mental training?
  2. I'm not doubting we can move 40k cars into downtown...or "downtown". The question is where do the cars go once they get there, and where do all of the people who drive them disappear to?
  3. First you have to define what "good" is.
  4. I think calling this a "debate" is perhaps too generous.
  5. Oh, I see, we want flexibility in the parameters, do we? How far out would you like the boundaries drawn? Delaware Park to the Broadway Market?
  6. We're getting there.
  7. I lived and worked downtown for a long time. Anyway, I did some quick maths. Your average parking spot is 8' x 18'. X 40k = 5,760,000' The boundaries for "downtown" are roughly 3150' x 6600' = 20,790,000' That means 27.7% of "downtown" needs to be reserved for parking. Probably more, actually, because of vehicles that come and go during the course of business. Can we round up to an even 30% of all space downtown is solely for parking? Sure.
  8. We were talking about downtown.
  9. So, I was writing a response to this when it occurred to me that we all might have varying definitions of what "downtown Buffalo" is. I'd like to submit this Google Map (IOW, not mine) definition of "downtown Buffalo". However, I completely agree with these boundaries and, in fact, have always considered this the "downtown" area.
  10. Oh please. So your assumptions are "support"?
  11. That's the spirit!
  12. Should I submit?
  13. It is if you believe 40k cars need parking spots downtown. Downtown Buffalo, that is.
  14. You wrote words here, I don't comprehend them. It's like staring at a Rorschach blot.
  15. This is the late summer news? Better off talking about the number of cars needing parking spots in downtown Buffalo.
  16. You said people. Tangent: PEOPLE. Let's stare at that work for a minute and see if it makes sense after that. Even now, when I look at the word, it makes no sense. Maybe. 40k cars is a lot of cars.
  17. To be clear, this started with cars. Not all people coming in drive solo, and some do actually use public transport. I might accept 40k people without saying anything, but 40k cars needing a place to park in downtown? No.
  18. 30k people makes more sense. It does not equal 30k vehicles.
  19. Great! Not all people drive solo and not all people work in DOWNTOWN Buffalo.
  20. That's more than double a capacity KeyBank Centre. And people double-up, at least, with rides going there, if they don't use the train. If you multiply by over 4x the amount of traffic and people roaming around prior to a game, it doesn't seem to me to equate the traffic and population filling into downtown Buffalo daily.
  21. I looked for that number, too.
  22. Well, I gave it a quick try. Can not find the number of cars going into downtown Buffalo every week day. Still don't believe it's 40k.
  23. Of course.
  24. How is that East Side residence working out for you?
  25. The metro area includes Niagara Falls, Lockport, Amherst (Williamsville), Hamburg, Cheektovegas, West Seneca, etc. etc. Enough 9-to-5 jobs to warrant 40k vehicles coming into just downtown Buffalo daily seems excessive.
