  1. "Legitimate sports talk" is a bit of a stretch. I find it no more legit than discussing the content of goal celebrations.
  2. Just keeping the memory alive.
  3. There's a simple answer to that: because it wouldn't then be genuine thanks. We are allowed to be humans with faults because, after all, we are humans with faults. It's okay, then, to admit that a "thanks" given after a challenge is put in your way would really be humanly disingenuous, because we would actually be aggravated, irritated, upset, and honeslty not thankful for the the challenge (in this example, losing the fumble). It's better (more honest, more genuine) to recognize that, and, therefore not fall into the trap of being disingenuous to your God.
  4. Very nice. This is an effective explanation of what I see happening out there and it makes complete sense.
  5. While I understand you're speaking to the general "fan" and not me specifically, but you're giving a fan like me a bit too much credit, or, perhaps, too little credit. I don't know, take your pick. All I know is that for most of the season I thought the Bills offense looked pretty good and capable of winning any game. Tonight, they didn't look that way. My comment was based upon an eye toward the playoffs. It'd be cool if they weren't one-and-done. I will say that it looked to be like both teams went into this game putting defense first, or, in other words, both went into this game expecting the defense to "win" the game. Which is a weird concept to me because if the offense doesn't bring it, the defense doesn't matter. None the less, because of the way football is played, you know strategies and plays and all of that, it was a D-first game in my view.
  6. Wouldn't that have been darkly poetic. So, the Steelers had/has the number one defense? Does that fully explain how bad our offense looked? I know the talking heads were saying this was going to be a low scoring game, but let's hope whoever we take on in the playoffs has a far worse defense than they faced tonight. I guess that seems all pessimistic. Sorry! Good win, nail-biter!
  7. 7 D. 7 D has worked.
  8. I don't know, man, you can also look at it in a different way: because of the present lack of secondary scoring, this could very well be sustained if the secondary scoring picks up. It could possibly improve if the first line continues producing.
  9. We have four legit top 6 forwards, two of whom are scoring at an ideal pace. The other two, Skinner and Samson, need to pick up their games. That would help. I think you can be more specific here; what we need is a second line Eichel equivalent.
  10. Count me among those who think this was a good loss. They played a solid game, but were mugged all afternoon. Frankly, this loss was due to the officiating.
  11. So, I know we didn't end the period with a lead, but that was some solid hockey by the Sabres in the second. If it weren't for some cheap penalties, they might actually have an extra point by now.
  12. To be fair, life on a message board is lumping all of your personal impressions into a ball and assigning that ball of impressions to the entirety of the board's membership. When, in truth, maybe only 30% of the membership contributed to that ball of impressions and the remaining 70% have a different point of view on whatever the subject is.
  13. If I only looked for today's interviews on the Sabres' site, I wouldn't have had to ask here for the videos, looking like a lazy dork. Therefore, I want to both thank you for your response (providing the URL to the video) and laugh at myself for being an idiot.
  14. You have to pay Larry and Gus if you want their performance. You can't not pay Larry and Gus just because Okposo is there. That's foolish.
  15. Look at that vein or artery popping out of Bogo's temple while answering questions today!
  16. Not in Mitts' case, as far as I'm concerned.
  17. Wish I could do two reactions @Doohickie, because I'd put the laugh in there, too. For some reason I though this might have come from an unofficial press scrum.
  18. You don't sit a bad contract because you want to pout about it. The situation with Okposo is clearly, obviously not Botterill's doing. You know how Botterill "solved" it? You do what RK is doing and make the most of it. People can bitch about the ROR trade and it's valid, especially because we're missing details. Bitching about the cost of our "fourth" line because Okposo is on it is absurd.
  19. Is there video/audio of this? I went looking but so far no luck. Absolutely. All of this. These are the kinds of stones I needed to see from the guy, and they're very big and solid stones to be sure.
  20. Why? Z makes it possible. We have seen that line without Okposo and it's equally effective. Z hasn't done anything but be on a line that is as effective in its role as the first line is in producing points. He's still young and takes a pounding every night without complaining.
  21. Scandella can take all the slap shots he wants so long as they injure enemy players.
  22. Is it tonight, or does it seem like that immature cockiness is missing from Jack's demeanor?
  23. I didn't miss them, and was glad they were scratched! Actually, the team missed their roster spots being taken up by non-contributors. That's one of many differences since they emerged from November. This. If the PP were working, this team would look dangerous again.
