Many think these are threads for the sake of threads. I've been a Sabres fan since 1981 (not the longest stretch by any means) but I feel compelled to promote provocative thoughts through them. This is a team we all love (young and old) and I feel this is a monumental point in the history of the franchise. Why are any of these guys off limits. With that I say move Miller to a team like Philly. Squeeze Them. They are always a goaltender away. Schen or that French kid would be good. Look, we got rid of the Second most iconic man in Sabres history...let's not cling to the rest of these guys

I think it's time for this guy to go as well. IMHO he is damaged goods from a mental standpoint. The house cleaning continues with this move. Try to land a young defenseman with talent and high effort guy. Rip this gd bandaid off!!!!!

Yeah it is. I just think if we are truly rebooting, then moving him cannot be out of the question. He has some of the "old" culture issues and getting a young center to add to what we already have would take care of that position for years to come.

Value is high...maybe as high as it's ever been. Vanek for OReilly and a pick (#1?). Gives us a lot of flexibility at center. Some young wings are coming up soon (I'm thinking specifically of Armia) and with the extra pick we can restock. No I am not smoking anything just throwing this idea out there.

As I look through the web regarding Sabres prospects, I see so many highlights of Sabres prospects it makes me giddy at the thought of Armia, Catanecci Grigerenko Girgensens McCabe Brennan Makarov Tropp Kea Foligno Pysyk etc. skating together and firing through the Stanley Cup playoffs in a couple of years. If I had any ability to put together a highlight video, I'd do it, because I don't think I can remember a time when there was so much talent in the system. I think it's an exciting time to be a Sabres fan! (please don't burst this bubble for at least 2 days!)

Youth seems to be the consensus...i have to admit that at draft time i was much more intrigued by him then grigorenko (wanted to get that right for sanchez)...looking forward to seeing him progress over the next couple of years

That was my first long-term exposure to him...i usually see him at draft time and hadn't developed an opinion, but man watching that semi final i felt like kicking his ass every time he opened his mouth... By the way props for watching the home team live every time!!

I guess I'm wondering if he would have been better off with the Catamounts this year. Would the Vermont program be a step up from the USHL, a lateral move or a step down?

I think he gave up his NCAA eligibility once he signed a professional contract. I was thinking similarly though, that maybe there is a league he can be sent to to regain some confidence (if that is what's lacking).

good point. I hope it's just that. Given the lack of real hockey talk, I hoped to stir some debate.

I haven't seen a lick of this guy (or hockey in general for that matter), but his stat line in Rochester makes it look like he is really struggling. I hope this is an "adjustment" period. If there is a silver lining to the lockout it would be more time for he and others to develop but his apparent struggles worry me. I would enjoy a discussion.
