  1. I just realized he was Geoff’s son. Carry on.
  2. If we had drafted Thompson people would be excited about his prospects. Because he was part of the worst trade in Sabre’s history, and the Sabre’s have been bad for so long, people are skeptical and with good reason. I am glad that while the team isn’t counting on it, they know they may have something special.
  3. It’s funny, you mention Smith and Oglivie and you are told they didn’t show enough in the AHL. You mention Tage and you are told his tearing up the AHL doesn’t mean anything.
  4. That’s a notch above Ecklund
  5. 99.9% of me really wants want some astute drafting but I’d be lying if I didn’t admit that part of me wants them to pick LGRM’s least favorite player just to read his venom. And I hope he knows I say that with all due respect and appreciation for what he brings to this board.
  6. Top 10 by what metric. Two different columnist posted they were 18th in yards allowed last time. Don’t have time to check it out now but I will later.
  7. And, as someone pointed out, the Chief’s D was 18th last year, the Pats were 19th the last time they won. Two of the Bills SuperbBowl teams were mid 20’s on D. Besides the points you made above, teams that score a lot and score quickly are going to give up a lot of yards for reasons that should be obvious. The trick is holding your opponent to field goals and forging mistakes.
  8. Have you watched the Chiefs play? This is exactly how they won the Super Bowl. Their defense gets torched half the game until the opponents offense makes a mistake and the Chiefs offense makes them pay for it.
  9. Don’t be so hard on yourself. I’m sure there is more you know. You just have to find your calling.🤪
  10. You are missing the point. All I said was that these guys will have a shot. Either one will have to step up their play to actually contribute on an NHL level but I don’t dismiss the possibility.
  11. I do. I think there will be better options. The one interesting thing is that if there is a compressed schedule, teams may want a veteran for their third goalie spot as well.
  12. I know. People whose opinion I trust think him and Smith could be intriguing prospects. Nothing you would count on but a chance to be decent depth players.
  13. Still scored 15 goals and apparently his underlying numbers were very good.
  14. It’s the new financial landscape, especially with all the goaltenders available.
  15. A) actually they do B) I’m on record as wanting Larsson back C) I’m an Okposo fan. My hope is that fourth line is Larsson, Okposo and ???! D) I think Lazar, Oglivie and Smith all will compete for 12/13th forward E) guys like Smith and Oglivie come out of nowhere all the time. Sometimes they just click. I didn’t say I’m counting on it, I very much doubt if all 3 see significant ice time but, unlike you, I don’t have a crystal ball. It’s why even the staunchest analytic guys created the “outlier.” Because it happens and I predict this year, with every team struggling to be under the cap, it will happen more often throughout the league.
  16. If he’s in Rochester, he’s top 6.
  17. Larsson is exactly the kind of guy teams going into playoffs look to acquire. If they can lock him up at a reasonable price, they should do it.
  18. Yes, we want to complain that they never get contributions from undrafted players but think that the Sabre’s can’t win if any of theirs make a contribution. Every Cup winner gets contributions from guys like Smith and Oglivie.
  19. I haven’t given up on retaining Larsson only because I can’t see him getting a lot of offers with most of the contenders cap strapped. I could see him going overseas for a year.
  20. I think oglevie and cj smith will both be given a shot at fourth line wingers
  21. I guarantee that will not happen.
  22. There you go, him on the left, Okposo on the right, might be the slowest line in the NHL.
  23. The problem becomes when those supporting the likely outcome use absolutes and insist there is no chance. It’s always nice that whenever they are wrong about someone they just fall back to that “outlier” excuse.
  24. I’m almost positive there used to be a “clean hands” provision where they would call the roughing penalty.
  25. Travel and back n forth to the coast is underrated. That’s why Buffalo’s stretch of Vegas, Nashville and a Thursday night game against KC will be a monumental task.
