  1. I don't know where else to put this, but I'm pretty sure that today, Skynet took another step towards self awareness.

Every single piece of electronics I have either crashed or rebooted on it's own or had to be restarted before I could use it today.

…time to start stockpiling the canned goods.

  2. Can you elaborate on what the "little more" was?

As for the warning -- he was warned for what? For being a stream of consciousness wingnut prone to inscrutable metaphors and sprawling polemic?

The Ban Hammer* has, of late, been wielded a bit too freely around here for my taste. Now, that's easy for me to say, since I am not obliged to be a custodian and curator of this board's culture, etc. Even so.

*Ironically, while the Ban Hammer can be controversial, Jan Hammer is indisputably awesome.

IIRC, it was specifically about littering the board with non-hockey threads (not posts). His free stream of consciousnesswas fine.

    And yes, Jan.

  3. so, just being a stream of consciousness OT freak gets you perma-banned?

i think 2015 is the year in which the standards and thresholds for a banning at sabrespace became much less clear to me.

It was a little more than that. Plus he was warned.

  4. How messed up would that be if somehow Venus beat her?

I hate when they play each other. Don't know if the stats bear this out, but it always seems like they each have more unforced errors than they do winners, compared to when they play others. Like they don't really want to beat each other.

  5. He was physically broken on a sideline play a few games later.  He lost his starting gig to a vanilla QB as exciting as cucumbers in a salad and then lost his starting gig to an import.  His mechanics for throwing the football are wrong, his decision making under pressure is abysmal and he becomes reluctant to throw any pass to a guy in tight coverage.  That's what I mean.

Injuries happen and I'm sure he learned from it. IMO EJ could have gotten us to 9-7. He should have never lost his job to that vanilla QB, but I also think it was the best thing for him as he shouldn't have even seen the field yet. Everyone wants a Russell Wilson (whose total career, in my opinion, is still a question).

  6. I can't believe the sudden amnesia on this site.

If you don't want to answer that's fine. Not really sure what I'm forgetting, though. To me, he's looked like the player he always has been which was never as bad as people here and in the media have made him out to be.

  7. Almost forgot. This was the smallie I caught on Raquette Lake. Just a great day of fishing (either those lakes are coming back strong or we're starting to figuring them out, probably both).

It was a decent enough fish, but you can see I'm trying to show my nephews how to make it look bigger by holding it closer to the camera. The only downside is that it make you look like a fiddler crab.

  8. Been into PT for years, but the last I checked into it it's very uncertain whether they will ever record again.  Steven Wilson has been more into his solo band in recent years, and I agree with Swamp that those efforts are fantastic.  Steven Wilson's Blackfield project also produced a couple great albums.

Most people here who have listened to WGR have heard Porcupine Tree, but they probably didn't know it.  They used to play the opening to "Shallow" from the Deadwing album as bumper music years ago.

You're the one who hipped me to them/him.

    I thank you once again.

  9. Can't believe someone else has heard of Porcupine Tree. You and my bosses' father in law are the only two people I've ever heard mention them, SwampD

I can't believe more people haven't heard of them.

And I think Steven Wilson's solo LPs (sic,… I think) are even better.

  10. I've mentioned I do blind tastings with a group of people who are all in the beer industry (brewers, distributors, etc.)

This is not that group.. but I came across this the other day and figured I would post it given some recent discussion on DIPA / IPA.

and here's the IPA blind tasting

Pliny at 18, Heady at 16...

I think the list in the wheelhouse of what I would have expected.  I haven't had 3 of the top 4 (I'll seek out the Grimm soon).

Well, that's 231 beers I'm never going to drink.

  11. My take. I still think EJ is the best option. I also think Taylor gets the nod and that's okay. When he gets hurt in week two, EJ will come in and be great.

Either way, I think our D won't be as good as advertised (our secondary will get picked on a lot) and our O will be better than advertised, and we'll be talking playoffs in week 17. Can't ask for more than that.

  12. Bought a new to me tequila, Camarena reposado. Middle of the shelf stuff. Not bad. A little light in flavor but smooth. Sort of a Makers Mark for tequila.

Drinking it right now with a muddled lime slice, a touch of agave syrup, and about 8oz of club soda, over a glass of ice. Very refreshing on a warm, muggy day.

I've been meaning to respond to this post. This has been my go to tequila for a while now. I think I even posted about it a while ago and I'm sipping it over ice right now,… but,… I think they changed it recently. I couldn't put my finger on it until you posted that. It does have less flavor now. It's the same flavor it was, just less. I still like it over ice or neat, but it just doesn't do enough for me when used in a drink.

Might have to find a new one. Had a couple of fingers of Hornitos at a friend of mine the other day and thought it was pretty good.

  13. Not knowing the long snapper's name is a very good thing.

The very utterance of his name brings bad luck.

    You have jinxed this team.

I now blame immerman for all injuries and poor quarterback plan for the 2015 season.

In order to release the jinx you have placed upon the Bills I believe you need a voodoo doll of Doug Flutie and some long pins. Then immerman you  must chant "Rob Johnson was not better"

                                                "Rob Johnson was not better"

    While inserting the pins.

    This made me laugh.

  14. Don't know about this, not a fan of franson, he looked to slow a skater to me.

Feeling a little prickly, I don't know how this is acceptable

    Oh never mind then

How is he wrong in the first place, though? He said "he looked to slow a skater…"

Well, he did look to slow a skater, but he was to slow to slow that skater. Thus Hucklberry;s trepidation.
