If our players didn’t just do drive-bys of the opposing net and actually camped out there, they might actually be there when the puck is and score some more goals. Ya know, Physical hockey.

It’s usually one or the other. If it takes a goal off the board, they don’t give the penalty.

If you go to the NHL.Com P-B-P, and look at the recorded hits, then go watch them in the game, what they call a hit can be pretty comical.

Yep. They did not hold our own physically. The score effect in the third was not enough to make me think it was a good game for them. Flinging all those shots at the net (ala Rob Ray) was useless with nobody in front of the net (Rob actually even mentions that 😀). The only time they had someone camped out was when they pulled the goalie. What is that 6 games in a row the Sabres have had to pull the goalie?… that’s fantastic.

So why should I care about possession, and exits and entries, or any stat for that matter? And as I’ve said many times, I don’t think the Sabres are too short. I think they often aren’t willing to (coached not to?) pay a physical price to make the play. And none of your fancy EA sports style hockey is going to convince me otherwise.

That third goal,… I still can’t fathom just how bad the defense was on that play. It was five on five, and Matty Beniers is left all alone on Comrie. Almost in the crease. WTF?! It’s impossible to blame hime for that goal.

I do. First minute would have had way more effect on the outcome of last night’s game. Last minute just looks like sour grapes. Not unlike the Florida game we also lost.

What’s a salary cap? I knew teams were required to spend to a salary floor. Not sure about your take on that energetic line. They have done very little over the last 10 games. JJP has looked sketchy and Quinn has looked downright bad at times. I agree on Dahlin, though. Where was that hit in the first period.

The Sabres are not making the playoffs. It's a new year,… when teams start playing their starting goalies and play more physically. We will not be able to keep up.
