Zegras to Philly

I would agree JohnC but my thought is this: Dahlin and Thompson are not going anywhere. EVERYONE else IMO 'could' be available for the right package. Afraid to deal Tuch? Remember when Florida dealt for Tkachuk and they traded a 100 point winger as part of that deal and Florida was ripped for it? Sabres can't be afraid right now. Be bold. Aggressive. And have the right plan to truly build a winner here. Example: I may catch flak for this, but if Jason Robertson was every truly available (highly doubt it now) but I would not be afraid to include Tuch. Players like Robertson do not grow on trees.

Jason Robertson rumored to be on the trade block

I would agree with this. Power is far from a finished product. My biggest issue was paying Power 8 years. Would have preferred a bridge deal. Would have provided us with 2M or more of cap space the next few years, and also made Power a more attractive trade piece of we did decide to go that route. -
I am not on the Dobson bandwagon. We need RHD options who complement Dahlin and Power perfectly.Dahlin and Power take up over 19M AAV, I don't need another 10M defenseman. Way too much $ to allocate to defense. Plus 3 #1 PP defenseman isn't an ideal use of assets.

2025 NHL Entry Draft Thread, Sabres Draft 9th
Palm Trees And Taxes replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
One problem the Sabres will have with moving Pick #9 is the pick does not carry as much weight as usual. The draft isnt great at 9 and other teams also want to move off their 1st round pick. It is a buyer's market so the Sabres wont get the usual value that comes with Pick #9. In this case, I am ok with Buffalo keeping this pick provided they are utilizing other existing prospects in the pipeline to upgrade the current roster. -

Sad but true the Sam Bennett effect and emulating SC Champions builds is real. -
Konsta Helenius getting some accolades
Palm Trees And Taxes replied to inkman's topic in The Aud Club
Well this is true, where the tax advantage comes into play is generally after the team is constructed, to then be able to add an extra 6-8M to the books AND re-sign players at lower rates to sustain excellence. -
The Houston Sabres? Well at least Kevyn can have his yearned for Palm Trees and No taxes

Friedman- Sabres looking to move prospects for players
Palm Trees And Taxes replied to JoeSchmoe's topic in The Aud Club
The NY Rangers 2025 1st round pick was Top 13 protected this year (was in the JT Miller trade) so doesnt that mean the NY Rangers 2026 1st automatically goes to Vancouver? -
Friedman- Sabres looking to move prospects for players
Palm Trees And Taxes replied to JoeSchmoe's topic in The Aud Club
The only way I am dealing Helenius is in a package for a player like Jordan Kyrou or Jason Robertson -
If JJ Peterka signs an offer sheet with NY, the AAV would make the compensation be a 1st, 2nd and a 3rd. IF the Sabres were able to land another top forward like a Jason Robertson, or even a Jordan Kyrou (who is rumored to be available), I would gladly let JJ walk for that compensation.

Whenever I think of Jake Oettinger I say to myself: 'He is really good, BUT' Just do not feel he is a top tier goalie. IMO he is a very good goalie who is boosted with a tremendous roster around him. And now with that large AAV kicking in I would not want the Sabres to make this kind of move.
-
I like this idea. I am absolutely not married to the idea of Levi becoming a franchise goalie. Demko has a lot of skill and IF he can stay healthy, can be a steal for Buffalo. And he is only signed for 1 more year
-
So how are we all feeling about the possibility of landing a player like Marco Rossi? Is this a player that we SHOULD covet or pass on? Could we see a RFA for RFA deal brewing (BB for MR) and some other pieces mixed in?
-
Personally, if the right GM was brought into this organization RIGHT NOW, Tage, Dahlin and probably Tuch aside, I would not be afraid to trade anyone on this roster. We have the flexibility and pieces that a sharp GM would SALIVATE over to take this team to the next level. And any good GM that comes here knows, they can't go anywhere but up. But Pegula has some strange fascination with Adams, so it won't get any better.

Agree. Think about it in these terms: About 8100+ players have played at least one NHL game since 1917. The fact that he got that cup of coffee in the NHL puts Rousek in elite company when you really think it through.

Mitchell Marner, Unrestricted Free Agency

Florida, Tampa Bay, Vegas, Dallas are all in the front of the line for obviou$ rea$on$ After that, let's see if Buffalo has a shot at Marner. -
Hockey Heaven? what the Sabres are competing with
Palm Trees And Taxes replied to mjd1001's topic in The Aud Club
The Sabres don't even need to look at the NHL for who is their competition. A Lacrosse league in their own CITY is running laps around this NHL organization. If that does not sound off the alarms nothing will. -

Players like Marner rarely hit UFA. This feels like when Panarian was a UFA and the Rangers overpaid for him. Say what you want about the Bread Man in the playoffs, but he did help the Rangers quite a bit. Marner is the injection this franchise, and fan base, needs. 14M AAV? Done. -
Dallas vs Florida SC Final. Might as well wrap the Stanley Cup in a 1040 tax return form for a better more accurate effect on today's NHL.

2 of 4 Conference Finalists from Tax Haven Markets. What a $hock

Exactly, and this is why this Byrum decision IMO is so crucial. Dahlin and Power are already getting top $, do the Sabres really want to have a 3rd that offers a skill set that might just be a little too much overkill for this defense group? Should the Sabres move BB for the right defenseman that has some term and some experience that can help Power especially? Or Trade Power? Buyout Samuelsson? Such a huge off season IMO on how this franchise will look the rest of the decade.

Its both that need to be used: Watching the game and seeing that the goaltending and some of the defense suck is still very valuable but i also like the charts as sometimes they tell other stories about this team: The defense isnt as good as it seems, or as bad as it seems. Analytics and eye test should and can exist.
