If the Sabres keep frustrating Florida like this you just know the Radko Gudas cheap shot is coming.

This team continues to prove that it deserves better goaltending than it has been given by management.

New Sabres GM record for most free players acquired in one season?
Or is it a new record for most useless players acquired in one season?
He's definitely putting a lot of faith in his coaching staff to try to rehab the values on some pretty cheap guys. It's really not a bad tactic. Utilize the cap space you have, see if your coaches can get a guy or two going, maybe trade em at the deadline if they dredge up some value?
Frankly, I think he should be doing more of it.- 3

Free is good.
At the very least he's another body.
Not gonna get any butts in the seats though.- 2

Maybe Bales thinks he can goalie-whisper him

Tokarski and the puck's shooter probably staged the injury so he could get some sleep.

I think this team has the ability to make a heroic run to 9th (nostalgic!) if they are simply given some NHL goaltending. They are scoring enough goals to do it, and they're doing it consistently. But it doesn't matter when they're giving up so much at the other end.

Enroth .93 sv% 1.86 GAA 23gp / Mann now has 0.93 sv% 1.66 GAA 23gp
I would take both lol
Enroth would be very funny. I'd try it lol

I actually have an answer to this thanks to a great Black Friday sale deal from coolhockey.com. I'm a snob so I always buy my jerseys outside of the normal channels so that the customizations are all hand stitched like the pros.
So I ordered a Home Blue Okposo. I'm so happy for him getting his game back and he's just so likeable. There's basically no way I'm going to end up not enjoying this jersey.

Which is fine. He hasn't been that useful.

But do they want to be in Buffalo?
Most of these guys would take any sniff at an NHL job they can get

Strauss Mann (23yrs) is currently near the top of the SHL with .929 sv% in 9gp.
Eetu Anttila (22yrs) is currently in Liiga with a .933 sv% in 6gp
Nick Malik (19yrs) is currently in Liiga with a .926 sv% in 15gp
Perfect. Bring any of them in. At worst it doesn't work out and you've lost basically nothing. At best it makes the Sabres better and then you can trade him or Anderson or Tokarski at the deadline. There's really no reason not to do it.

I'm wondering if the Sabres should just do what Edmonton did a few years ago with Koskinen and grab some vet Euro goalie who is dominating in some Euro league and give him a chance?

Someone has to start in goal tonight. Dell?
Tokarski didn't get much work last night, he should be fine to go again tonight.

Not that I don't think Murray, with the right coaching, couldn't be better than Dell or Tokarski, but I'd like the Sabres to aim just a little higher if they're really committed to improving the goaltending situation. This team is scoring enough goals to be solidly middle of the pack in the East. They deserve a good goalie, they've earned it.

Damn, a lot of you have been saving up for that one, eh?
Took 16 games before they finally gave you a reason to say what you've been wanting to say.
Next game please.
I don't think I've ever attended a Sabres loss that I was less upset about.

See what I mean? I don't care how bad the team was; a good goalie doesn't let in five.
Tokarski might be barely NHL level but he got hung completely out to dry. It might have been one of the worst games I've ever seen from skaters.

I have never watched less of a game I was physically at

True. Especially when them reaching their potential can allow them to be more than just a cog in the system. More than a few coaches miss that nuance. Granato doesn't.
This is absolutely a development year as evidenced by letting pretty much everybody get time in all situations. Though he isn't an idiot about it, certain lines & pairings get more opportu items in high pressure situations than others, e.g. when their protecting a lead late Miller & Bryson will get 75% of the ice time as in his view they're the best pair he has for that role.
But it will be interesting to watch for how & how much that mindset changes when winning is the clear #1 goal & there isn't a 1B goal next season or very late in this season (please let that last 1 not just be wishful thinking).
I will note that I was a little concerned with like a minute left in the game when Skinner was out there to get it into the garage. Granato basically saying "you're on the team, you're going to play when we need you to" even if it's a terrible idea, is fine with me lol
