It's possible that players just aren't using them in their negotiations. I think if it were more publicly known that "x player has requested offer sheets from x teams" then there'd be less stigma around their usage. But it's very obvious that offer sheets are being treated as a thing that GMs do to other GMs, the player left faultless in the process.

Jason Spezza is still playing hockey?

I saw an interesting framing of the offer sheet thing the other day that makes GM aversion to using them even dumber. Offer sheets aren't tools for GMs so much as they are tools for RFAs in negotiating their next contracts. Since RFAs don't have much else in the line of leverage, it's fair for RFAs to reach out to teams that might want them and say "hey, offer sheet me." And other GMs should be more than happy to do so. GMs should be using offer sheets ALL THE TIME because RFAs should be requesting it ALL THE TIME.

John Gilmour Agrees to a One Year 700k Deal with Sabres

Both of these are also available at Aurora Brew Works. Saw them on the list tonight.

Deger is wrong. They can't keep Risto now. Reducing his role on this team is only going to make things worse. He's not going to get better with a reduced work load and it's going to crush his trade value. Plus they have too many defensemen they need to protect for the expansion draft now. Risto is gone.

Trade:Defenseman Colin Miller to Sabres for Picks
darksabre replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
His playoff experience, and experience playing for Gallant, is going to be important in the room. -

I believe the thread is titled "do something already", not "do multiple things over an extended period of time". -

I'm just happy that one thing happened. It means more things can happen. -

They're both trash at breaking up stuff at the blue line but Miller is better at clearing the zone and better defensively in general. He's not going to eat minutes like Risto but he'll get a lot of o zone starts and actually *do something* with them. Wow. If that's all we gave up then that rules. -

I just don't see it happening. Money is good, but guys want to win too. The only way he's coming here is if no one wants him and the Sabres say "hey, if we're out of the playoffs at the deadline we'll trade you to a good team". But he could get that same offer from a team that is in way better shape than the Sabres.

Ain't no one gonna take Reimer.

There's no way Boyle is choosing to come here though. He's a mercenary now. He'll be looking to slot onto a playoff team.

So I figured maybe we could have a thread where we post car shows or cruise nights that come across our calendars for the benefit of our fellow club members and anyone else lurking. This weekend is actually looking pretty good (and the weather too!). We have the big Central Terminal Car Show tomorrow, Saturday the 29th. FREE to the public. It starts at 11:30 and judging is at 3:30, so getting there after lunch is probably a perfect time. http://broadwayfillmorealive.org/2.0/2019/06/central-terminal-car-show-on-saturday-june-29th/ It's also Niagara Swap Meet weekend at Lancaster Speedway. Swap meet and car show that goes both days. https://www.lancasternationalspeedway.com/event-details/niagara-swap-meet/

Yup. No news is, frankly, good news.

This is generally what I assumed you were getting at. Type A people are Type A people. I think what sets Rapinoe apart is that she's a major icon in the LGBT community, a voice for Women's equality in sports (especially soccer where the women's team is arguably more popular than the men's), and civil rights in general. Male athletes don't tend to take their Type A to other areas outside of sports.

I'm a little unsure of what the line of thought is here. The qualities you outline are ones typically praised in athletes, but I can't say I've ever seen anyone question whether an intense athlete is difficult to...be friends with or something?

Good for him. One of the most likeable players in the game. I hope he lands a nice TV gig somewhere.

It could literally be months before anything happens. -
Here's last season for comparison:

The thing is, there's nothing to indicate that he's bad in his own end. His Corsi numbers are solid and he breaks the puck out well. He's not good at defending zone entries, but the puck doesn't seem to end up in his net much when he's on the ice, so maybe it doesn't matter for him. For the price he'd be a good 4-5 d man.
