  1. Got the motorcycle out of storage yesterday. Fired up after three kicks. Currently sorting out issues from the fall when I put it away, including a particular plug wire that likes to fall apart while I'm riding.

Thinkin I might paint my exhaust. The oil that leaks out of the head and burns off on it is rather annoying.

Took the Honda down to the gas station and back last night. I'd like to go further, but that brake is still dragging and it isn't running quite right. Rode Hilda to work today though, always a nice way to commute.

  2. Also, whenever I here someone say FML I want to whack them with a reality bat.

When someone uses 'here' for 'hear'. (Just kidding!)

Kinda non-Complaint: riding into fog this morning on the way to work suddenly got a lot colder for the last 10 minutes of the ride.

  3. (Had to throw my snook back. Stupid regulations.)

Throwing back Snooki is never a bad idea. Sure it's nice at the time, but the doctor costs for penicillin will kill you.

Dogfish's Aprihop. A punchy IPA, made with real apricots. Like nothing else I've ever had -- just, amazing.

You know, Dogfish Head brewery isn't that far from my house, I shoul dgo check it out one evening instead of going to Victory. (now I'm rubbing it in)

Work pot-luck today for lunch. All meat quiche, a nice phillo dish with proscuitto, sun-dried tomatoes, goat cheese, and asparagus, Buffalo chicken pie, and my savory sweet corn bread pudding.

  4. agree, most people fall between the twin characters we have created here. But that is the beauty of the "teams"! they are caricatures of thoughts and emotions that we can insert into various situations with sometimes informative, sometimes hilarious results. They are classic Greek characters of light and dark brought into a hockey discussion board. I love it.

Maybe we should call them Team Hades and the Dionysus Gang. Class up the joint.

  5. There's a number of people out there who have done the Goldwing as a cafe bike and I personally think it looks great. Good way to take a bloated highway bike and make it lighter, faster, more maneuverable and most importantly...better looking.

There's an awesome build thread on one here http://www.chicagola...ad.php?t=103354

That's a really nice build. The Silverwing I just bought looks *a lot* like the inital picture. From the looks of it, same fairing, wheels, tank, bars, and color. Probably the same year, just with the different engine. I'm getting inprired the more I find.

  6. I love the cafe scene. Problem is I'm just too tall and lanky to ride em. I look out of place. My old 350 was perfect for it, but my 750 fits a lot nicer.

All us Sabrespace bikers aught to meet up at some point. You can all call triple A for me and have my bike towed when it won't start again.

I'm pretty tall too, I'm a little worried about that. But I'm looking at using a Goldwing or Silverwing as my base. Sure, it's a little crazy using that big of a bike for a cafe, but it'll be unique at least. :)

I'm game for a ride when the threat of snow up that way subsides. Maybe I'll have the Silverwing I picked up this weekend done by then. (New2me bike == Awesome, just to keep this on topic)

  7. I'd really like to hit up Elk or Hunter Mountain. Hunter Mtn especially has insane deals this time of year ($89 for a liftside condo + a lift ticket??). Actually one of our local places arranged for a crazy good deal with Stratton in VT where you can stay at the Inn and get a full day lift ticket for $49.95 if you have a pass to the local place. I'd love to go, but have no one to watch my dog. :(

I've been to all three of those. The only thing I don't like about Hunter is too many NYC people there. In the Catskills, I've also hit Windham and Plattekill. I like Plattekill a lot, it is kinda small but has some cool terrain and not many people there.

  8. Snowboarding season is pretty much over... all the local places are going to be closed as of this weekend. :( And much as I enjoy the warmer weather, I'm always reminded this time of year how much I did not miss all the bugs on my porch in the evenings during the wintertime!

Yeah, I haven't gotten out on skis this year and I'm already thinking bikes. Strange winter. I assume the central NY places will be open for a bit longer, it's only a few hours away. :)

  9. More hop and more alcohol? How's the housing market near you?

Expensive by Buffalo standards, but there wasn't much of a bubble (so far, I bought in 2008 and my house has mostly held value). I am kicking myself for not finding something right in Downingtown right now though, being able to walk home would have been nice.

Someone should plan a 'thing' in Buffalo. I'll fill all my growlers (5-6) with the less common Victory brews and bring them up.

  10. Hop Wallop? I can't get my mouth to stop watering and I don't even know what it is.

Oh, it's *terrible*. You wouldn't like it at all. It's kinda like Hop Devil, but with more hops and a higher alcohol content. I think that might have been on hand-pull the other night too.

Maybe Falstaff and I should meet at the bar and post pictures of beer here for everyone to check out. We just better not mention the new Ranch R double IPA.

  11. Home made chocolate ice cream. Nothing beats my wife's ice cream.

Having not had it, I can't really argue. But, Victory Brewing's "Hopped Up Devil" ice cream is really, really, good. Vanila base with chocolate covered coffee beans, cinnamon, and a fair bit of cayenne. I've never had a spicy ice cream before, but I certainly will again. Mmmmm.

  12. That is a pretty wild looking machine.

I'm not sure how 'cafe' I'm going to go. A motorcycle is primarily a form of transportation for me, so having it be functional is important. Plus, my kinda-girlfriend is going to learn on it, so I don't want to throw some crazy ergos on it and discourage her. Maybe it'll be a two phase build, something a little more standard to start and then down the road the full monte.
