Really hope that they've told him that he'll get to call the 1st period of the 2nd home playoff game (it wouldn't be fair to Dunleavy or whomever else it is working PbP then to take the 1st period of the 1st game &/or the 1st home game) and also the 1st period of their 2nd home Stanley Cup game (same comment as previously). That'll give us all something to look forward to, and more importantly HIM something to look forward to. He can't just go and fade off w/ no purpose anymore not that he isn't calling games anymore. He'll have to stay healthy & enthused & have a reason to get up every morning. We NEED him.

Until his final walkout onto the ice for the final ovation, it'll just be another season ender. Expecting the full barn & playing a team they "know" they're better than and wanting to have 1 final hurrah to savor as a team (knowing after stall cleanouts the team won't be back in this incarnation & they all seem to truly love each other as a family) will cause them to win this one emphatically. It'll be fun. But the true emotion will hit at the end. They're asking people to stick around after Rick James is no longer blaring from the speakers. That's when it will get misty. Rick has lost a step. He doesn't always know who has the puck, but he still has his cadence & you almost have to be listening for it to hear the drop off. So, in a very real way am glad that he is going out now while still very good. Ted Darling's disease made his last days memorable for the wrong reasons. Van Miller was a shell before he hung it up. Both had significantly diminished. RJ's not SIGNIFICANTLY diminished. Can't wait to hear him call the game when we get back home. It'll be glorious. It's the right time. It's sad that he's leaving just when the Sabres are starting g to come back. But he'll always be in this kid's heart. Just like I still get goosebumps thinking of Van's "it's pandemonium, it's fandemonium, it's faaan-tas-tic" or a smile thinking about the Sabres upcoming shhedule or the lady from Eden who got a souvenier, will always have a special place for Jeanneret in my heart. He wasn't always the Sabres to me - that was Ted, but he's become it so much. Don't know how it'll be, just know tonight in it's own way will be, in Van's words, fan-tas-tic.

Reportedly, Adams did offer to match the Bah-stan offer, so apparently he didn't stick w/ the value he put on Ullmark. And, if that's the case, & pretty sure it is, he should've given Linus the B's offer to start with because then the B's would've needed to beat it, rather than the other way round. Goalie is a different animal than the rest of the roster. An "overpayment" of what the B's did give him wouldn't have messed w/ the salary structure, would've helped w/ getting them to the cap floor, and would've provided better goaltending than the Sabres got through any stretch more than 2-3 games with the possible exception of Anderson's 1st 6 or so starts prior to his early season injury. Presuming he'd've taken the same M-NMC in years 3 & 4 like he actually did sign up for, there really was no substantial downside to making that offer 1st. Adams misjudged it. It (along w/ the previous season's goalie inaction) is his only major misstep to date that can't be handwaived away w/ the 'well, it's not my way, but we'll try 1 final time w/ 'the rotten core V2' missteps.

Don't hear Beane speak too often. What you heard is the same as here. So, 🍺 He also said that if he was gone & they couldn't trade back that they had guys close enough to 1st round grades that they'd've been OK w/ who they got. (Can't recall the exact wording of that part of his response.) He said they'll follow their board & if it's another corner, it's another corner. 'We didn't set out to draft 2 edge rushers & then 2 OL, but that's the way it fell.' They aren't necessarily looking for a CB in the 2nd, but they'd be OK taking another. And, he said all the talk of grabbing the Iowa RB didn't start from OBD. He said something to the effect of smoke signals are useless & he's an honest guy so they don't throw them out there. Lastly, his answers about Elam included something that Adams speaks of frequently - they liked the way he was questioning them when given the opportunity to ask them Q's. Adams wants guys that are curious & have a drive to get better. Both GMs do speak with each other. The answer could've been either of theirs.

Do you believe in miracles? Yes. The Amerks are still only mostly dead. IF the Amerks win & the Marlues lose to Bellville in regulation, the Amerks are in. Any other combination of results & the Marlies win. Either will have the best record of the non-playoff teams.

In OT. If Marlies win, Amerks are out. If Marlies lose, Amerks need to win & Marlies need to lose in regulation.
