This isn't my baby but I don't understand why you would rank them. It doesn't make any sense. If you're not building a team why would you draft Connor McDavid? Clearly he's not one of the best players in the NHL given the fact that he has never played in the NHL.

I would say no. You are building a real team. Or at least the top two lines/pairings.

If every person is representing a team (or two) you draft a team. You could draft for near-term, you could draft for the future, or you could try to do a little of both. Personally, I would draft 12 forwords, six defenseman, a starting goalie and maybe a back up.

You could consider this a fantasy hockey draft that was a keeper league. But you're not concerned with scoring the most fantasy points per se but how that player with fits in to your overall team.

Please don't exclude this years draft. The rules were for all NHL eligible players. It specifically includes McDavid and Eichel. I think the correct way to look at this is that all 30 teams will be drafting just like a regular draft.

If I don't go McDavid to get his entire career then it would certainly be someone in their early 20s so that I got the majority of it. Taking a guy with concussion problems drafted 10 years ago? I don't think so.
