From the New York Times in 2012: ”In one study, he examined what happened in the 10 minutes after every fight in 2008-9 for which a clear winner was chosen by fans voting on the popular site hockeyfights.com. Desjardins found that the team of the winning fighter had an uptick of 0.07 goals — or, as he said, “winning a fight is worth a little more than 1/80th of a win in the standings.” Two other statisticians who do consulting work with N.H.L. clubs, Kevin Mongeon and Mike Boyle of the Sports Analytics Institute, say that fights did tend to open up a game, increasing offense in the five minutes that follow. “On average, every 10 to 11 fights, a goal is created,” they said. But, Mongeon and Boyle added, “fighting has no effect on winning”; the goals scored in those five minutes are almost evenly divided between goals for and goals against. Another statistics group, PowerScout Hockey, analyzed the three minutes of play that followed 1,563 fights from October 2009 to Dec. 21, 2011, and came to the same conclusion. “We found that fighting by itself does not significantly help a team score more goals or win more games, but it can often increase short-term momentum for one or both teams,” said Marc Appleby, the chief executive of PowerScout Hockey. The company’s research found that it would take 30 to 60 fights to generate a single extra victory.”

I’m sure no one has looked at this. It has probably occurred to no one. Although no one tracks “corsi after fights share” for some reason and the GMs no longer draft/sign Rob Ray or Andrew Peters or anyone of their ilk. But please keep explaining to me how much it matters. The billion dollar league has already spoken. Approximate age?
-
That might have happened. I don’t know. 🤷🏻 The good thing is we got points in the “it matters” column.
-
No idea what would have happened. 🤷🏻 I know what happened with the fight. We lost. I know why fighting is discouraged in the league. It doesn’t help you win. I’ll try and dig up tough guy John Torterella’s quote about this.

That emotion needs to be find a way to score a goal. Did Dylan’s absence for 5 minutes help the team? I already said that. I’m glad you saw the same thing. 👍
-
Because the fight is worthless to the score of the game. You all can argue with a guy on the internet, but every coach across every team has made the strategic decision to sign hockey players and not fighters. Yell at them. If it was worth something it would be tracked by analytics and coaches would employ it as a tactic. I’m sorry you all miss the 70s. The game has moved on.

A goal would have meant more than the nothing that happened.

A plastic potato bothers you? 🙄

Literally made ZERO difference. Lost 3-2. Number of goals scored after the fight - ZERO. Play prior and after - the same. Thankfully he didn’t break his hand hitting something that made zero difference.
-
That’s not fair because 25 of those were probably against the Sabres.

Just like Steve Moore.

Calling him a soccer coach was a compliment?
-
So, it was just a fact free insult when you said it?

I long for the day this attitude is out of hockey. There’s a reason why it doesn’t exist in any other professional sports league in the world.

Did you say “oh well” because this is what you believed?

Krueger began his coaching career as an assistant with EV Duisburg of the German second league. Between 1994 and 1998, he led VEU Feldkirch to five straight Austrian championships, culminating in Feldkirch becoming champions in 1998 of the European Hockey League, made up of the champions of various European leagues. This experience later encouraged him to author a motivational book.[6] After the successes with the Austrian team, he took over as full-time head coach of the Swiss national ice hockey team, having split his time between Feldkirch and Switzerland in 1998. His tenure with the Swiss national team has also seen some notable successes. He led the team to appearances at the 2002, 2006 and 2010 Olympic Games and to several World Championship appearances.[7] Krueger was also a scouting consultant for the Carolina Hurricanes.[8] Krueger spoke at the World Hockey Summit in 2010, and addressed the need to co-ordinate International Ice Hockey Federation and National Hockey Leagueevents.[9] He suggested that the World Cup of Hockey be played every four years, alternating with the Olympics Games every two years. He wanted to see the Ice Hockey World Championships became an under-23 event during Olympic years.[10] He felt it would be beneficial to national teams to evaluate their younger talent at the international level. He wanted to resurrect the Champions Hockey Leagueand Victoria Cup competitions, which he felt would make the game more popular in Europe.[11] Krueger joined the Oilers as associate coach in 2010.[8] Although during his time with the Swiss team, Krueger may have been known as a defensive-minded coach, he has also demonstrated the ability to deliver the offensive style of game. This was confirmed by his performance as coach for VEU Feldkirch in Austria. He has been described as a great communicator, positive thinker and a motivator. The book he authored (in German, also translated into French), called Teamlife - Beyond Setbacks to Success, was devoted to handling problems in life, and became a bestseller.[12] The Oilers promoted Krueger to head coach for the 2012–13 NHL season, but he was relieved of his duties after only one season.[13] Hockey Canadasubsequently added Krueger as a special adviser to its coaching staff for the 2014 Winter Olympics.[14][15] Krueger was chosen to coach Team Europe in the 2016 World Cup of Hockey.[16] On 15 May 2019, Krueger returned to the NHL as the head coach of the Buffalo Sabres.[17]

GDT: 2/28/21, 3pm ET, Philadelphia @ Buffalo, MSG & ESPN+

Would you like to compare the records of Buffalo’s two professional teams since I started two websites, to their previous records? I got yer curse right here buddy. -
-
In the modern era, that includes the redlines, it is north of 255 minutes. I could not find the exact record. The all-time record is 583 minutes back in 1929 by the Blackhawks.
-
The NHL is scheduled to lose something on the order of $1 billion this year or more. The Sabres are going to lose $30 million in gate revenue plus concessions. On top of that loss you want to add another $7 million, but don’t see why?

This should have been an episode of Bar Rescue. -
Another way to interpret this is that even former players don’t agree on a right way and don’t have definitive answers.
