I have a very weird mental state when it comes to the Sabres. I’m essentially trapped in 05-06 when we should’ve won the Stanley Cup. When all the stars aligned and it looked like it was absolutely going to happen.

So I don’t even know if the darkness of this stretch has really even hit me the way it has some other people. I just live in a state where the Sabres are still that team and are still a relevant franchise.

I guess it’s some sort of mental gymnastics to protect me. But your post puts it into a pretty clear light.

I think I’ll probably still stay in 2006 though, before Jay McKee woke up on the morning of game seven with a staph infection on his ankle. I still refuse to accept we didn’t win the cup. And I’ll stay here as long as it takes until this franchise sorts out the present.

I am going to watch them forever.  I’ll never change.

I stopped going to games and I stopped buying merch.  I won’t support Pegula in that way but I watch and hope for better days.

I didn’t think they had a playoff roster to start this season.  Still too many caveats requiring growth in young players.  The center spline is not very good still.  Without the concept of Norris we are back to last years problems at forward, only without Peterka.

My hope is that Terry finally cleans house and the next guy can figure it out.
