Putting a player in the appropriate league based on their ability is not rushing them. Whether he's 18 or 22 is irrelevant if he can play in the AHL.

I don't see that. If Mrtka isn't challenged in juniors, what is he learning? How to play when it's easy?

You're assuming because Mrtka could hold his own in Rochester theoretically, that it means he's not being challenged in Seattle. I disagree. He can learn and develop his offense more, while also leading a team. Ultimately, this is pointless because Buffalo will do whatever but I don't think 43 whl games means he's somehow mastered the lower level because he looked fine to good in a few preseason games. 

Rochester has like 11 defenders on their roster. It can wait a year.

I'm not dying on my sword over this. If they send Mrtka back to juniors it's fine. I'm sure they are trying to decide now if the AHL would be a better place than juniors.
