March 6, 1977

The Sabres beat the Montreal Canadiens at the Aud, 4-1, one of only eight losses the Habs suffer all season long.

 

March 6, 1989

The Sabres trade defenseman Calle Johansson and a second-round draft choice in 1989 (Byron Dafoe) to the Washington Capitals for defenseman Grant Ledyard, goaltender Clint Malarchuk and a sixth-round draft choice in 1991 (Brian Holzinger).

Don't forget how great that team was!... Then again, there was no regular season OT... Just ties... Not knocking the Habs... But they did have about 20 ties that year...

 

Really if you went back to that format... You might see the elite teams trying to play for the tie at the end of regulation (which no doubt the Habs did do)... I think it is doable, but it has to be back in that format...

wow... this team has a bright future with that trade. I just hope malarchuk can stay healthy!

IMO

Try 12. They were 60-8-12 and they had to score late to beat Washington in the last game to get to 60.

 

33-1-6 at the Forum (The 1 loss was to Boston IIRC). And 27-7-6 on the road. Absolutely unbelievable team and season.
