Okay, so who moves off the current roster to make room for "the next kid"?

But what if the Eulers don't make the playoffs?

Shannon's been beating that drum for a while. So much so that he finally did a (brief) segment on it. -

Depends what you mean by playing. 😄 -
No. This is the correct answer.

I think we can also point to Comrie's time as being "early in the season" before the offense was really clicking. I hope that's the case anyway. But if those number bear out over the next several games, maybe there is something about Comrie that inhibits the Sabres offense. For example, I've noticed that UPL is effective in handling the puck- not that he just stops it and sets it up for a skater to come get it, but he's pretty good at passing it to a specific Sabres player versus just putting it up the boards and hoping for the best.
-
That's a bit unfair comparison. UPL has mostly played behind at least 5/6 of the intended D group. Before Comrie got injured, he was playing behind as few as 2 of the starting 6 D and often just 3. Hard for any goaltender to win consistently in that situation. I'm reserving judgement until I see Comrie in the same circumstances as UPL. It's also a typo; I meant to say UPL. Looks like you read what I meant anyway. You're right; the performance to date is not fair for evaluating Comrie. I'm just concerned that the team's current momentum could be killed by a goalie switch. I guess I'll just have to sit on my hands and trust Donny and Kevyn to execute it the right way.
-
My first thought is maybe he goes home to Vancouver but Van needs assets to build (picks/prospects), not pieces to shore up a playoff roster.
-
Comrie may be the veteran but he hasn't shown he's any better than UPL. I could see UPL being sent down but if Comrie falters I think UPL may be called back up. And to be honest I can't say UPL has shown he's any better than Comrie or Anderson but at the present moment in time the team seems to play better with UPL in goal (based on W-L percentage).

Send Quinn and JJ down, pair them with Rochester's 1C and at the trade deadline (or sooner if injuries dictate) bring them back up. Let them get their mojo back. I would send them down as a pair and if they need an extra forward, bring Biro, Weissback or Rousek up for a cup of coffee in the NHL. Possibly move Cozens to the line with Ollie and Mitts and let Jost center the line with our spare wingers/rookies/whatev for less than 10 minutes/night in protected ice time. It will give a young guy or two a taste of the NHL and give JJ and Quinn enough ice time in game situations to get back in the swing, and the novelty of new faces may bring some energy to the team as a whole.

I think the shooting will come naturally as he develops but yeah they all need to go to remedial camp for faceoffs.

Are the Sabres out of the running for the playoffs?

Hey, we don't need this constant negativity from you! 😉 -
There's room for Cheeseheads in Bills Mafia. Jump on the bandwagon for a few weeks.

I didn't realize you'd moved. Where y'at now? -
Maybe JJ or Quinn. They're still waiver exempt, innit?

The one you posted fell flat when it came out and still does as far as I'm concerned. -

If all teams win their games in hand: Washington: No. of points: 50 Games in hand: 0 Points with GIH wins: 50 NYI: No. of points: 46 GIH: 1 Points with GIH wins: 48 Pitt: No. of points: 44 GIH: 4 Points with GIH wins: 52 Buffalo: No. of points: 42 GIH: 5 Points with GIH wins: 52 I get it: You can't assume a team will win its games in hand. But... Washington and NYI have already "banked" there losses. Every WC team above the Sabres is on a losing streak. Their points over the last 10 games are: Wash: 16 NYI: 11 Pitt: 8 (!) Buffalo: 16 So I guess I'm just saying that if you look at the games in hand coupled with the recent trends, Buffalo is looking pretty good to pass NYI and at least one of Wash and Pitt, and quite possibly by the end of January. I would also point out that Buffalo has been beating very good teams lately... teams ahead of them in the standings. They laid an egg in Ottawa but other than that, they are trending sharply up against quality teams while NYI and Pitt are at about NHL .500, and they have games in hand over Wash.
