Oh sure, NOW the ref blows the whistle....
-
How is that NOT a trip of Gionta?
-
Personally, I think any touching of the goalie by the opposition should be goalie interference. PERIOD.
-
I see both sides of that. Had the puck been under, instead of behind, Linus, they would have overturned it.
Sabres: 0
Isles: :death:
We got 'em right where we want 'em. :nana:
-
Well hell. Goalie interference?
-
ULLMARK :worthy: :worthy:
-
Eichel back out.
-
Even without Eichel, Girgs is still looking dangerous.
-
Eichel not on the ice for he second period.
-
Great period in all respects except the scoreboard.
-
Ullmark had no idea where that rebound was.
-
I've noticed three distinct times that he reached for the puck instead of simply taking a step and securing it. Lazy play or extraordinarily bad play prediction...
And yet he's a lot better on the back check than I think any of us realized.

The power play looks very good so far: Everything but the goal.
-
Problem with an umbrella style power play is the defense can rim it around for the clear with no one on the point.
-
Well yeah, the refs finally realized you can call a second penalty when a team is already short.
-
More hard work by the Sabres, here comes another Sabres power play.
-
I guess you can trip while defending during a PK, eh?
-
Zemgus is great at getting into the offensive zone with possession.
Tru dat.
-
Maybe someone else beat me to this, but it just occurred to me that with Gionta and Zemgus with Jack, Jack can focus on offense and not spend his whole shift in the defensive zone. Not great skilled wingers, but they help Jack where he's worst
Definitely a couple of responsible wingers.

Nice clear, Bogo. Holy hell
No worries, the Isles helped him out. :D
-
Hard work by the Eichel line leads to a Buffalo power play.
-
Good pressure from the Eichel line right out of the gate. Picking up where they left off. Eich and Girgs go so well together.
Throwback to 16 year old Zemgus
Holy moley what did he do to the guy? Looked like an honest shoulder to shoulder hit.

The bottom line is that Bylsma is a pretty good coach, but hasn't displayed any high end awareness or tactics.
I still think he's working strategy (i.e., rolling out his system). He's not worried about optimizing the tactical game (i.e., the lines that will produce goals while giving up the fewest) right now because he's still working the system with a team that was working a totally different system last year, and has had >50% turnover over the last season. So he may know that playing Eichel's line a little less, or tweaking certain line combinations, would be likely to improve the team's standings, but he's been ignoring that up until now because he's more worried about implementing and reinforcing his system.
Right now, he's teaching a teenager to drive. At some point he'll get them to drive at a NASCAR level, but not yet.

1 thing: The Sam Reinhart jersey my wife ordered for me for Christmas showed up today.
Not so AWESOME: They shipped the wrong box to us. The invoice inside has someone else's name, and a Jack Eichel jersey that's too small for me. :(
Mr. Reinhart's jersey arrived today. I'm kinda psyched. The DFW Bills Backers are having a watch party for the Jan. 2 Red Wings game and I'll be there properly attired.

Larsson passes to Moulson, then has to skate over an pick it up when Moulson flubs the pass....
An opponent's goal is like Festivus.... it leads to an Airing of Grievances.
