Okay - I see that as well. I think I'm being skewed by how the NFL harps on "conference record" for the purpose of playoff tiebreakers.

McDermott is hiring a guy named John Butler as the secondary coach. It was weird that they separated the existing coach (Byrd), after the secondary came together like it did (all 4 starters new to the team) and performed really, really well this season. Fwiw, Butler is a friend/teammate of McDermott's from high school.

It's not an actual cash out the door issue -- of that I am quite convinced. The Pegulas have never chintzed that way. I think it must be a cap management issue.

I'm being dragged along to this one. (Not a slag on the team - I just don't embrace going out for the Tuesday night games.) Let's Geaux, Buffaleaux.- 212 replies

Ahh. I think I see now. Okay. The idea is that conference finishers #3 to #8 will qualify for playoffs based on their total points (including non-conference games), but then they get re-sorted based on their conference record? But I'm not sure that distinction makes a difference. If I'm a team sitting solidly at #5 or #6 in the conference with 12 games to go, why would I give a hoot about my non-conference games? I'd just concentrate on my conference games. Maybe I am missing something.
-
What a whackadoo concept. If you're not going to win your division, what'd be the point of playing the non-conference games? You'd risk scenarios around this time of year where eastern teams vying for a slot between 3 and 8 would just tank games against western opponents.

Yuck. The Pegulas don't care about the money, I trust. I'd think the real issue relates to what the cap implications of that bonus are? I dunno. A bad look, for now, anyway. Hopefully, the team can finagle an arrangement whereby the team gets some cap relief and Wood gets his money.

I'm willing to wager: If you don't yet have stink bugs in the home on the regular, you soon will. Those goddamned things are everywhere. We used to have a few from time to time, and then two summers ago there were dozens (100s?) camped out on/around our AC window units. They've been in the home ever since. Peak season, I probably dispose of 10 per week, sometimes more. Through the winter - it's probably 2 or 3 per month.

(I thought you remarked that it would have no capacity to mate/reproduce thereabouts.)

Is this a species of stink bug that hasn’t infiltrated our region? Our home in the Great Lakes region is fairly lousy with stink bugs in late summer and beyond. I’m instinctively averse to bugs. I flush those stink bugs that I find.

Vanek a HOF player? Are any 2003 forwards Hall worthy?

For sure. Sorry I didn’t post a Vanek Face. -

NFW Vanek is an H-HOFer. He is, however, in the F-HOF. -

I read that he wanted to delay announcement until Monday on off chance he’d get the alternate call to Pro Bowl. So maybe it’s not *that* bad? Meaning, he should be “okay” going forward. (Whatever passes for okay for a retired NFL lineman.)
-
Gah. I really, truly hope that it's a situation that becomes much less complicated once he stops playing ball.

What a beast and warrior that guy was/is. And a stand-up dude.

It's Wood. Neck.

Taylor seems like the most logical candidate -- that hit he took at the end of the JAX game was ferocious. OTOH This is a good point. Yet OTOH, those head traumas can be weird. Delayed. And so on.

Mainstream beat reporter Tweeted that the player in question asked teammates and organization to say nothing until the official announcement -- hence, we don't know who it is. And the original reporting source now says the injury is a career ender.

He RT’d a video clip that showed the Sabres leaving the ice, and all (or mostly all) fist bumped Eichel as they passed him (he was stationed at a spot where he could fist bump everyone). ROR just moved by, head down. White gave it the “eyes” emoji. Then he deleted his RT. -

First: Ew. Second: I think not at all. In point of fact, "we're all buddies" can often cut against that level of success. -
McCoy has been out there practicing with the pro bowlers. Benjamin is a possibility. (If so, GOD, what of the fact that he played on a busted up knee?!) Taylor could be a possibility too. That concussion against JAX was terrifying.
-
The fact that they're having a presser, that several sources know, but won't say who or what, leads me to infer that it's going to be a sad, career-ending sort of thing.

Ah, fair. I had forgotten that. What I'd read is that Eichel was more "clowning" on ROR. But, yeah -- the middle school vibe there is bad -- all the cool kids are together, you're not there, the coolest kid is poking fun at you, and it's on Instagram. In any case, Eichel and Reinhart *barely* exchanged atta boys in that same clip. And White took down his RT of the clip. -
Twitter ablaze with rumour that the Bills are going to hold a press conference (?!) on Monday (?!) to discuss a serious injury to a starter from the O-side of the ball. So odd.
