  1. I would blow up the ENTIRE franchise:

    1. Trade Evander Kane. Get 2-3 strong assets back especially on defense.

    2. Fire Housley. This guy makes me miss Bylsma, and that speaks VOLUMES

    3. Call me nuts: Trade #15 and get a real TEAM here top to bottom. There is something about Jack that says to be 'diva' If there was a cant pass up package available for Jack Eichel  I would explore it.

  2. I feel the writing is on the wall with EK. Just feel he would have been signed awhile back if the Sabres were truly wanting to keep him. It isn't like the Sabres can ink Kane and sell him on the tax breaks like Tampa Bay did with Stamkos with the unfair advantage they and other teams in more tax friendly states have in Gary's hard cap world.

JBot will maximize the return for EK and I predict he may try to attach a bad contract to the EK trade to help on that front as well.

  3. They were given Crosby in a rigged lottery to save the franchise from bankruptcy

I agree with this 100 percent

And Toronto got Matthews cause they are the centre of the hockey universe and we all know McDavid HAD to stay in Canada.

I'm thinking the cancer man from the x-files hates the Sabres as well as the Bills.

I truly believe that Bettman and his cronies messed up the McDavid fix and missed it: They wanted CM in Toronto and they missed by 1.

The objective though was clear: Ensure Buffalo does NOT get Connor.

How DARE the Sabres tank. I'll show em.

Toronto tanks? Odds get worse to get #1 pick? No problem! They win Austin Matthews lottery with EASE.

  4. REMEMBER:  JBot builds from the farm up.  The winning team isn't the one in the NHL.  The winning team is being built in the AHL and will then be moved up to the big club.  Look at all the journeymen on the Sabres on 1 year deals.  1 year for a reason.  I'm not saying next year it all gets better, but when the Sabres get there, it will come from Rochester.

While in some ways I agree with you: Yes JBot was able to make this happen in Pittsburgh. Only small difference is: when you have a Crosy and Malkin, it sure makes that task much easier. Sabres have nothing even close to that duo.

  5. The Eichel tank was worth it one million percent. Perhaps where the Sabres went wrong was ANOTHER tank for the Matthews/Laine lottery should have been done. Imagine Eichel and Laine on this team as an example. And in addition, imagine this roster with better contracts and not ones that are saddling them down and will continue to for awhile.

  6. If I were Jbot:

    1. Can the Sabres get Kyle Okposo on track?  Kyle had a rough year last year and so far is off to a slow start: Is there any way we can turn this 6M cap hit into at least a 50 point player. It's unrealistic IMO to think JBot can deal Okposo with that contract at this time. If KO can get back in track, MAYBE a deal can be made.

    2. If Evander is traded, attach Bogosian back in a deal with another team: If JBot does this, it will bring down the return on EK, but it just might be worth it to clear Bogo's terrible 5.1M cap hit for 3 more seasons.

    3. Sam Reinhart RFA next year: The Sabres need to find out what the heck they are gonna get out of Sam. Either move him, or play him with skilled players to see if Sam can return to the promise we saw early on.

    4. Goaltending: A mess. I am thinking JBot had a vision to possibly move one of these goalies for a draft asset. Neither of these guys are a long term solution. Move on from both and look to the 2018 offseason to address this need.

    5. Moulson: Another disaster that is hurting on and with the cap. Not sure there is a clear solution here at all.

    6. Tell Eich to be Eich: I love his passion for the game and he wants to win. No more words, Just produce and elevate to the elite player we all know you can be. Leadership takes time to develop. He is 20. We don't need rah rah talk. Just be you and the leadership and results will come.

  7. Im enjoying this 2017 season to the fullest: Zero expectations.

If the Bills keep winning, great let's break that drought.

If they don't no problem tank and get a better pick.

Just sit back and enjoy the games; Enjoy the enthusiasm the team is showing.

  8. I never thought as a now 20 year resident of Southern Nevada that I'd see my Sabres actually play here in a regulation game. Very excited to be attending tonight. I grew up in WNY and a grad of Orchard Park HS so I will be rocking the Blue and Gold #15 jersey tonight. But the Knights are now my favorite Western Conf team for sure. They have been off to a good start. Subban played lights out vs Boston on Sunday and was 30 secs away from a shutout. So awesome having two official teams to root for! But tonight I'll be hoping for 2pts Buffalo!

The Strictly Hip will be playing pre game outside NYNY Hotel and there are already tons of Sabres jerseys around town that i've seen. Many former WNYorkers live in Vegas so the T-Mobile will be rocking tonight with Blue n Gold!!

    Very cool!  Enjoy the game!!

  9. One of the things to remember about last year is that the Sabres defense played a very passive box system. Their job was to basically keep everything to the outside of the slots. This lead to a ton of shots from outside. How this will impact Lehner in a new system that doesn't do this is hard to predict. I think Botterill rightly wants to see how Lehner adapts and if he does well he can be signed at any point this year to an extension.

    Excellent point and completely agree

  10. Robin Lehner is a solid goaltender. Love his intensity, he has moments where he can steal a game here and there. The shootout record is something I completely agree with. In the 'hard cap' era of the NHL (Florida, Texas and Nevada and their insane tax advantages notwithstanding), these teams are razor close. Being solid in the shootouts is a necessary evil. I hope the Sabres have a plan to either help Lehner get better or another backup plan.

  11. Been saying it a few times this offsesason, but it's so odd how, well, perfect this offseason has been for us. Almost everyone got the GM (or at least, 1 of the 3) they wanted, almost everyone got the coach they wanted, almost everyone got the draft pick they wanted, we shored up the defense, the moves in Rochester (both FO and player wise) are being praised by everyone...there hasn't been a single thing wrong with anything the Sabres have done really. It's very surreal; I keep waiting for an ankle to snap or another DUI somewhere

    So true
