Yes. If good players aren't doing what they should be doing. That's what good coaches do. If guys aren't held accountable for half-assing, missing assignments, making mental errors, how do you expect them to change?

I still believe in this roster (obviously with some tweaks) long-term. But in the short term, it's up to Granato to get the most out of what he has, warts and all. He most certainly isn't doing that. Aside from Peterka, almost everyone, to a man, looks worse than last year, some significantly. They need a new coaching staff. A fish rots from the head.

So the team that was, what? Third in the NHL in scoring last season just cannot score. This was supposed to be the year the draught ends. Nope,not happening as currently constructed. Stunning regression by most of the roster and now in the midst of a losing streak in December calling further and further out of contention. That situation usually gets a coach fired. If Granato isn't gone soon, KA is content with punting this season. That is unacceptable.

Yes, UPL for sure, but I was thinking of skaters. If it was easy as "ugh, our lousy goaltending is killing us", that would theoretically be an easy fix. UPL is good enough to win most nights so far...the problems are much deeper than that. It looks systemic to me.

I don't know. I've been a huge Granato supporter. But we're seeing the same lackadaisical approach out of the gate every game. The same mistakes up and down the lineup every game. I don't know that a roster shakeup does anything. Maybe it does, but we're almost 30% through what was supposed to be a playoff year and we look nothing like a team that is ready for that. The regression is horrifying. Sometimes a new message is all a team needs. Look at Edmonton. They were the laughingstock of the league, they changed coaches, got oriented under him and now they're playing exactly the kind of hockey that was expected of them. Let me be clear - I don't think this is all on Granato, but he's the guy ultimately responsible for the output of the roster he's handed. Is this roster that great? No, but basically the same guys were playing outstanding hockey in March/April and they've fallen off a cliff. I can't point to one guy, other than maybe Peterka, that's taken a leap forward from last season.

Fireable offense in and of itself. I'm glad Meatballs was the guy after Raaaaaalph, he helped turn things around and really developed some of this young core (that I still believe in), but sometimes the message gets stale and a change has to be made. We're at that point with Granato.
