The key question is will Iginla want the Sabres. I'm guessing NO. Much like when the Sabres were hot for Brad Richards as a UFA and he expressed zero interest and we wound up with an overpaid Leino. We'll see. One possible way to get Iginla would be to re-sign Regehr and have him recruit once JI reaches UFA status.

I agree with that, but not as a rental that you'd have to give up quite a bit for with no guarantee past this season. Now if they could by some miracle convince Iggie to come here as a UFA for 3-4 years, then by all means YES.

Agreed. Goals will not be as easy to come by in the Cup Playoffs. It's why I think Fucale will be a key. They are definitely the favorites. Should be fun to watch it unfold.

The issue with the "core" guys that you mentioned has nothing to do with age.

Fucale is going to have to play well for it to come to fruition. But I believe they'll be favored should/when they prevail as QMJHL Champs.
