  1. Yep.

This is a fairly easy micro/macro dichotomy to employ.

In the micro-perspective: If the game's on, or you're in the FNC, or for sure if you're there watching in some other town's barn, then you pull for them as you normally do. You get excited as you normally would. You cheer. Oooh. Ahhh. Allathat. And if they stink it up or get out-classed, then it is NBD.

In the macro-perspective: When the game's not on (which is most of the time), feel free to think and feel and talk and type as a tanker. But no, not ever, roll like a tanker when you're present to cheer your team.

    There is no other way.

This is exactly how I approached last year, and I'll approach this year with the same attitude.

Great to finally see a GDT here.

  2. I think I ate a big Chipotle burrito before mine - you're gonna be really, really hungry as it is so I would definitely not start early. There's no real reason to, plus you're just asking for a longer period of "irritation" below the equator.

It's really unfortunate that we've never adopted the bidet concept here in the USA, I could see how that would help immensely.

So what time do you actually start?

  3. So great. I was day drinking downtown in June 99 and saw Hitchcock from a distance lumbering toward the naval park area (was he jogging? Hard to say). I yelled out some slurred combination of "You're going down Hitch you fat fukc!" He gave me a big smile and an extended middle finger. I sorta love him for that.

That belongs in the Awesome thread.

  4. Best of luck to you. My wife is a pediatric NP and she loves it, and before going back to school she was an RN at ECMC. When the new residents started each year, she and the other nurses always made life difficult for the arrogant prick residents who thought their ###### didn't stink. The nice ones they would go out of their way to help.

Yeah my wife is an RN at Roswell and they do the exact same thing

  5. PAs are typically allotted more time to spend with each patient than doctors can, which is one of the reasons that many patients prefer to see PAs (or NPs). PAs are generally much happier as well (it's one of the highest-ranking professions as far as job satisfaction), which means they often have a better disposition.

I won't say anything bad about doctors though, because a) the amount and intensity of the training that they go through is hard to even comprehend and I have tremendous respect for anyone with that level of knowledge, b) most are under incredible stress and patients can be extremely frustrating to deal with, and c) all the doctors I've met are good people who mean well (maybe I've just been lucky so far in that regard).

Here is an interesting (and very discouraging) article about all the crap doctors have to put up with: http://www.thedailyb...profession.html. I'm sure our friend Woody can elaborate if he so desires.

Anyways, thanks all for the encouragement! I'll let you know if/when I get accepted into my program...typically there are hundreds of applicants for just a couple dozen spots.

  6. Very cool. Good luck!

    Thanks!

Physician's Assistant. They can do most of the things that MDs do in NYS. Like prescribe controlled substances. So CDX will be a good person to know.

Canada is one of the few other countries in the world that utilize PAs so I'm surprised he didn't know that. Do you guys call them something else perhaps, NS?

  7. You goin' to med school?

PA (if I get accepted...I just put my application in and it's extremely competitive)

At my age (45), becoming a Dr. wouldn't make sense as I would barely if ever recoup that investment. Plus, I think PA is actually preferable (for me) for a number of reasons.
