  1. Read complete scouting
    report from EP draft guide

Anton is a big centre with good wheels. He is a fast skater with a long stride. He is strong on his skates and covers the puck well. He likes to come with speed and challenge the defence. He is good at deking close to his body and to take the puck to the inside. Wahlberg can truly hold on to a puck. He has the qualities needed to work the boards, extend possession, and create better offensive looks for his team.

I'd re-hire Ruff in a second to replace Granato.  He is the only coach in Sabres history who proved he could adjust his style to maximize the players he had.  No coach can succeed without good players, but some coaches, and I include Ruff in that group, can make a good group better.

Of the 3 highest peeks in Sabre history, Ruff was the coach for two of them.

I would try and go after a coach with a better history of winning is the jist of the whole thing for me.  Neither are good enough.   Maybe one does not exist??

    Dooooooood.

How can you look two records where one coach won more games than the lost and the other coach lost more games than they won and go "Seeeeeee they have the same win percentage".

    Lindy: 571-510 (571 wins/1081 games), W% .528
    Meatballs: 112-144, (112win/256 games) W% .437

For W% you have to move OTL to L. Otherwise you have to use P%.

I don't know what you did, but you didn't math properly....like at all. They don't have the same W% or the same P% and it isn't particularly close.

Ties are not considered in "winning" percentage.  It is based on WINS.

    -Chris Drury

    -Daniel Briere

    -Dainius Zubrus

2007-08 after season lost  (still got the team to 41 wins )

    Brian Campbell

I understand, compare those teams to the one that is on the ice now.  Which one would you choose?

    Lindy is 571-432-78 in Buffalo with a .560 P%.

***** Ranato is 112-118-26 with a .488 P%. His best season is .555. His career year is worse than Ruff's average year.

I think there is a chance that you just made this up.

EDIT: Aparently D-O-N-G Ranato gets censored. What a bummer. Such a great opportunity there.

Games played is off by 84 for LR

Not sure why the difference in the actual numbers between the two sites.  80 somthing off for games played for Ruff and 20 something for Donnie.

I copyied the info from Hockeydb.  Winning percentage = Games Won divided by Games Played.  It is in the spreadsheet and can compare to Hockedb.

Why is it so hard to think DG and Lindy have the a similar wining percentage?  Dg's numberes will change alot because of the small sample size.  As a wise person told me, perception and reality are two different things.  That is why we have data.

Ruff had one of the deepest and most  dangerous teams But ownership decided to just destroy it.

Ruff Would have had a cup or 2 if Terry was the Owner

If ifs and buts were candy and nuts we would all be president of the team and won 7 stanley cups...

    They're not even comparable imo

Ruff had to deal with Larry Quinn and golisano Ripping apart his roster every year, not signing his players

And he still managed to put a good team on ice

How people forget how buffalo nuered ruff Is mind blowing

Hasek would make any coach look good and get you in the playoffs.

When you look at the rosters when Ruff was in the playoffs, he didn't have any stinkin putty cats.

    Don Granato (2021-present):

    Regular Season Record: 111-117-25 (.484)

    Lindy Ruff (1997-2013):

    Regular Season Record: 571-432-120 (.571)

Stats from Hockey DB.  DG wins 112 games played 256  equals .4375 win percentage

Stats from Hockey DB.  LR  wins 571 games played 1165 equals .490 win percentage

And goalkeeping has been a chronic problem for Ruff's teams after Buffalo.  IMHO, Ruff's system requires a good read-and-react goalie.  That is a strength of both 6K and Levi.  I suspect that he would be successful with this roster.

Interestingly, DG and LR have similar winning percentages in Buffalo.

The schedule coming hone is very hard.  However of the 20 remaining games after tonight there are 9 games left against teams between us and the wild card.  We play Det 3 times, Wash twice, and one each with TB, Philly, NJ and the NYI. Add a game against imploding Ottawa.  If they Sabres can win all 10 of these games and split the other 10 games against Tor (2), Edm (2), Dallas, Seattle, Nash, Calg, Florida, and Van, then they’ll have a legit shot at the playoffs as hard as that is to believe.

Winning tonight against Wpg would help.

Need 30 points in 20 games to hit 92.  I don't think 92 is going to be good enough.  95 would work, which equates to averaging 1.75 points per game...

If a season ticket holder boos, I get it. Imagine that layout of $ to see no improvement.

My hope is some trades now or in the summer. Talent has to be traded to get a different type of talent that can change the direction.  Trying to be positive long term.

Can't defend the above record. Speaks for itself. Go Sabres but come on !  Win at home.

Don't Boo - Cheer for the other team.. Make it seem like a road game.  Maybe the players/coaches/GM will  get it then.

As an oldster, I am still salty about the failure of the 1986 Sabres-Oilers trade that was rumoured for Gil Perreault.  I hope that Girgensons and Okposo go to teams with the best chance of winning the Cup that is possible.  The return is borderline immaterial to me.

Also pick a fan base that won't boo or say bad things about their play.  Maybe send them along with a box of tissues.

So the coach was bad? Or the players needed to wake up ?🤔

Not sure about those other teams and their reasons for making a coaching change, but with everything going on with the fans comments from the locker room and the coach, that a change is not warranted?

    "Losing is a disease".

Wow- After reading this, I can't believe how deep this runs.  Trying to switch the narrative to the fans because you have been playing s_ _t hockey.  If I owned this team, this whole mess would go away by removing the cancer.

LOL - just had a thought, instead of booing, maybe the fans should cheer for the visiting team!  Make the sabers feel like they are on ther road so they can pretend they are not in Buffalo.  Also can pretend to be hockey players...

Zemgus is not the problem.  I’d go as far as to say he’s not part of the problem.  His leadership and the game he plays is a need.  If we move him (or KO) it will make the team worse in the short term.  There is no Rochester player that can be brought up that will make the roster better.  None.  The problem is, KA set this up so Zemgus is THE leadership and defensive game focus along with KO.  In that respect, Zemgus and KO are set up to fail. Just like the rest of the team structure, they didn’t get enough roster support from the GM.  Those two are simply not enough to lead the charge, but that is exactly how KA set it up.

You put those two on a good playoff team and the conversation will be about 2 more Ex Sabres that performed well in the playoffs.

His leadership.  I like leaders who win.  2 cents.

Sorry but the above is an excuse for the two.  They just don't have the Kahunas. They are sea level players, keep their heads above the water to stay alive and don't splash or make waves.  I have seen leaders stand above and take over when upper managment /coaching falls apart.  Athletes are no different.  The barn needs to be gutted.  Will ownership do the right thing and end the friendship.

Agree… but that would have to be a Pegula order… and is unlikely…

Odds are Pegula will keep KA… who will keep DG… and keep our roster of under performers and unproven prospects… as he listens to KA whisper… “Stick with the plan.”…

Pegula will keep discounting tickets until he can’t even draw double digit attendance anymore…

And the fans who attend will still boo when the team fails to make an honest effort to entertain them…

Pegula will decide what kind of team the Sabres will be next season.

Will he be a man of action or take easy street.

I get Okie is a positive guy and that is great but sometimes you need a good threat, wake up call, some yelling,  DG I like but someone needs to bag skate these guys... have them practice running into the boards, put some blocking dummies on the ice and do grass drills.... friggin wimpy Sabres... get TT in the weight room... grr gonna die before this group ever win anything...

KO -Likeable vs winning.  Maybe his two-faced comments is destroying the culture and not allowing the team to move forward.  Nice captain pic.

Lets not salute the fans - great locker room...

On top of that - coach allows it and GM does nothing.

Need to empty the barn.  Clean out the leftovers from the last 13 years of losing.  Get rid of the stench.  Anyone affiliated is out.

I figured this deserves its own thread.

Harrington quotes an unnamed veteran Sabre (gotta be Okposo), who confirms that, after the “fire Donny” chants amidst the 9-# loss to Columbus, the team decided to stop the stick salute to fans after a win.

    What in the actual fu*k.

When does the no-salute policy stop, Kyle? What’s your endgame here, you dipsh1t?

Look, you get to retire and go do whatever the fu*k you’re gonna do, but this is my hometown team. And you and your equivocal soft ass leadership is helping to atomize it.

This is just crazy...Only one way to fix it.  Don't support them.  Bud Light them.
